I will admit to being enough of a narrow-minded mystery freak that I got way less invested in the series as soon as they started deemphasizing the whodunits around book 3, but Ii-kun's character and NISIOISIN's prose could carry me through pretty much anything.

@MitsudaMadoy idk, i think psycho logical had a cool enough whodunit. And ngl I think the whodunit aspect of strangulation only really worked well in building ii's character. Otherwise the actual logic behind it wasn't super interesting.

The game's critique of visual novels begins and ends with the assertion being somehow immoral for fictional characters to serve narrative purposes instead of being fully formed living individuals, despite the game itself being guilty of the exact same flaw because the former is elementary economy of storytelling and the later requires literal magic. Why is pinkette (I'm not going back to look her name up, I recorded this video several months ago and haven't thought of the game since) being scripted to help the protagonist get his life back together her being exploited, but being scripted to abandon the entire population of her universe to help the ACTUAL protagonist get better at throwing balls for money not exploitative? I thought the contradiction was fairly obvious. I'd also like to point out that I cancelled this playthrough a very long time ago specifically because I couldn't make it at all entertaining, so I don't know what you think you're accomplishing by whining at me now.

Fascinating! I'd never heard of this before today, but I looked it up and I 100% see it. I wonder how intentional the resemblance is. Osamu Sato, this game's lead director, was inspired to develop LSD specifically as a non-gamer using games as an art piece. I suppose tank controlling in a first person view is sort of the "default" approach to game making, as long as you're on a system that can make 3D games. Watching the showcase, I definitely thought the music that played during the first phase was particularly LSD-esque... although in Solaris, the background noise was just randomly generated...

@@MitsudaMadoy I've actually heard a few people compare Solaris- especially the betelgeuse payload- to an LSD trip, which is pretty interesting to me. I never realized how similar it was until watching a gameplay of this game. Nice gameplay, btw.

It's pretty confusing now, and I've heard the game's laid out to get progressively more hectic as you progress. Which, considering that we're only an episode in and I've already been mauled by a lion, is... certainly something to look forward to.
