    F tilt also knocks opponents off the ledge, that’s really where I use it the most, and you can poke at opponents pretty safely too.

  • @legionssb
    @legionssb 3 года назад

    Using f tilts range to outspace out of shield options really is important, mixes up greninjas ground options cuz you can’t spam down tilt forever. Pivot grab is greninjas best grab too, also can be used to outspace stuff, especially at ledge.

    Hey Venia! I finally found the time to watch your video and as promised here: twitter.com/King_Venia/status/1392212311541223432 , I will give feedback. I watch a lot of Greninja players as a Greninja main myself, and you're definitely one of my favorites. So watching this guide was very special to me as it opened my eyes even further. I definitely learned a lot even though I always say to myself "I know everything about Greninja". I was engaged the entire time and the transitions were so sick (shout out to your editor by the way). I also looked through other comments to make sure that I wouldn't repeat myself, so here's my summary. Use the description, as it can be good for more reach (viewers) and timestamps/chapters (which are extremely useful for guides). The thumbnail is great, however, I think it could use some text such as "Vs. Mario". You should also include Cards and End Screens in your videos as they're nice to have, and they benefit greatly in the long run. Telling people to check out a certain VOD (of you Vs. a pro Mario) or video (personal video on your channel), telling them to subscribe, or having them check out a playlist (example: All MU Breakdowns). The matchup breakdown series can also include stuff like stage lists, and I think it would be beneficial if you also talked about stuff that Mario has AGAINST Greninja. Like how Greninja being a fast faller makes him get spiked harder by Mario or Greninja's OOS game being much weaker than Mario's, etc. That's about all I had to say and I am really excited for more guides in the future. Best of luck to you, Mr. Venia! ◥θ┴θ◤

    This is really great content, super happy to have watched. The only note I would like to add is if we could see some actual footage of the principles in action. Either just some highlights, or if you could breakdown some interactions for us. I thought the advice was extremely good, and I feel that we are going to be hearing a lot about greninja entirely outclassing other characters with its movement. I do think some additional content that you can put out would be how to deal with character archtypes. I already know that not only am I going to put this advice when I'm fighting Mario, but I'm going to be incorporating this pretty much into all my matchups where I both have a speed advantage down the board, and a longer reaching projectile. Overall really great video, editing was on point, the content was great, I'm really looking forward to more from this series. Honestly, you are such a fun greninja to watch, any content of you playing is so much fun.

    This comment is continued in the replies because apparently it's too long lol. Real talk, the production quality on this video is INCREDIBLE. You bring tons of new input to the table, whereas a lot of other Greninja players trying to do a matchup analysis tend to call it at "use Fair in neutral." You breaking down concepts of static positioning, threat zones, and movement attributes is really eye opening and provides a lot of clarity on what to do rather than tossing moves out 24/7. On top of breaking down what you want to do as Greninja, you do a really solid job of breaking down Mario's game plan as well. You cover the options that he's looking to do (punish with his shield game, catch approaches with Bair, playing patiently, etc.) and talk about the ways that you'd work around them (choosing your approaches before being cornered, outranging his aerials, and setting the pace of the game with shurikens). Great stuff! Also, major props to Cashanator with the editing on his end. These transition cards are super clean, and he's cut the VOD up in a way to never break the flow of what you're saying. Especially with how interactive you are with stream chat, the way that he's managed to piece together your points without breaks in between is great. Also, the thumbnail for the video is amazing so props to your secret agent who put it together! Some things that I would recommend: Use your description!! What you have now isn't necessarily bad, but there's a lot more to be added here. In my descriptions personally, I break it up into a few sections: video introduction, social media (including your discord link), resources referenced (frame data for this video), time stamps, and music used. While the video itself does look really well polished, there are a few things that you'll want to do on RUclips's end as well. Putting together a well made description only takes a max of 5 minutes, and you can copy and paste a lot of what you have on your previous videos into your future videos. Time stamps in the description also make the video look super well organized, giving us different sub sections (chapters) of the video to click on rather than having just one big red bar to skim through looking for something specific. You already have Cash's incredible transition cards, so breaking the video up into chapters shouldn't be a problem. I'd also really recommend using tournament sets for better showcasing interactions that you've mentioned. A lot of this video is just you standing around in training mode with Mario at 4.8% and this doesn't come across as the most entertaining thing in the world to watch. Granted that you are on stream, you won't be able to do this effectively at the time, but showing highlights from VODs would be something that you could definitely work on in post production. There are times where you being in training mode isn't bad at all and actually adds a lot to the video on its own. 2:31 is a great example of this, where you accurately show the range that Greninja should be playing the game at. I'm well aware that Ultimate's training mode is awful to work with, so recording examples of interactions that can play out can be really tricky. I do recall you mentioning that you'd record clips to better showcase some of your points in post (5:38 is an example), but simulating these occurrences, especially with the training mode that we have to work with, doesn't highlight certain interactions as well as an actual match can. This would help with knowing exactly how an interaction will play out rather than just taking your word for it, like at 7:10. Stage select. A lot of players are really curious when it comes to what stages it is that you're banning or prioritizing going to in certain matchups. Luckily for us, Xeno happens to show us directly on the screen what stages you or your opponent bans in a set. Giving just a tiny bit of insight on those stages that the opponent could benefit from, or the stages that we could benefit from, could help out a ton for a bracket match. On top of that, certain characters play EXTREMELY differently based on the stages that they're playing on. Mario on Yoshi's Story compared to Mario on Pokémon Stadium 2 is a massive example of this. Talk about how their game plan might change depending on the stage that they're playing on at the moment. Also, it would help to give insight as to what stages the opponent might ban, and what stages you could use to work around them. For example, I know that you and Mr. E go to FD very often in bracket, since the stage works out for both Greninja and Lucina fairly well. But if the Mario player bans FD, Kalos, and Town, what stage do you like counter picking to? A simple list of your stage selections in order of priority could be great. Viewer input. You do an incredible job of taking input from your viewers on stream and answering questions or breaking down interactions that we ask about. There's absolutely no rush when it comes to getting you to make matchup break downs, and we really do appreciate the time that you put into them, but giving us the opportunity to come up with discussion topics in advanced would be great. I noticed that in your discord, there's the matchup breakdown channel, and it honestly seems a little bit dead at this point. If you post an announcement in advanced letting people know that you plan on doing matchup X next, and to post any questions they have regarding it in the channel, it could give you more topics to talk about during the breakdown streams. This would let you organize the stream into sections as well, rather than saying "okay, what do you have questions about?" I know that this was a little while ago, but this was the case for the Ness matchup, where you started off by covering Yoyo at ledge against a Ness before covering Greninja and Ness' game plan in neutral. It seems a little bit unorganized and would break the flow if turned into RUclips format.

    • @apolotion
      @apolotion 3 года назад

      Stream VODs. While truncating the original stream into a nice 12.5 minute video format like you did here is nice, some people (I don't know, maybe it's just me) like to understand interactions and points that you touch on in as much detail as possible. While I don't have the original Mario Twitch VOD to work with, I was watching the VOD for the DK matchup recently, and there's a lot of information that may go overlooked when condensing the video. Examples of this are understanding the armor on DK's grounded Up B and knowing that jabbing it isn't the right play because of the startup, breaking down the angles of counter you'd want to go for when edge guarding him, or covering the fact that he doesn't take knockback from Hydro Pump when recovering off stage. I do recall talking about edge guarding versus Mario on stream, and information like that being available through a VOD archive could serve useful. Since Cash put together this video, I imagine that he still has the original stream on file, and uploading it to RUclips wouldn't be an issue. If you do so though, I recommend linking it in the description and setting it to "Unlisted" so that you can bring attention to the actual truncated video when going to your channel, instead of a 1.5 hour long stream that didn't see any edits. Playing the matchup. This is something that would definitely take a bit of work and collaboration to put together on your end, but playing the matchup with notable players would be absolutely amazing for seeing how you apply all of the information that you've given us. Getting into a voice call with Dark Wizzy and doing a best of 5 while getting his input on the Greninja matchup would be incredibly entertaining to watch for one, but also extremely helpful when it comes to getting clips to use for the breakdown video. You've done this with Light before, and it really supports the argument you make that Greninja beats Fox. I know that it's a bit to ask for, but seeing that there isn't a single recorded set of you playing against a Mario player, this would be a massive insight to your gameplay compared to another Greninja player like Lea or iStudying. Little bit of an editing advice for Cash. First of all, Cash did an amazing job on this video, and I really do appreciate him for the effort that he put into it. There are just a few tiny things that I noticed in production that could be tweaked a bit. At 5:38, he uses a clip of Greninja hitting Nair, but it's pretty loud. Seeing that the rest of the video didn't even have sound on for Greninja's moves, I'd opt to just strip the audio from this part entirely. Furthermore, having audio in here can interrupt the ambience of what Venia's saying with the background sound already playing from training mode, if there is any. I personally don't think that including audio here would be the play, and even if it is, I would recommend making it about 10 decibels quieter than what Venia's audio is set to. He seemed to get it down at 8:18 though, so it was likely just a tiny slip up. Speaking of the 8:18 section though, reading the text is a little rough on the eyes since there's quite a bit going on in the background. I'd recommend just adding a blur to the video layer underneath it, similar to how it was done at 8:21. There was a tiny bit of audio coming in from Venia's end after the transition at 8:54, where he didn't quite start his next talking point yet. I'd split the video and audio sections into two different parts there, and mute the audio up until he starts saying, "So it's not about..." Other than these very minor details, Cash did an AMAZING job editing the video together, and I'm definitely taking notes for my future uploads. Overall, I loved the video and it was definitely worth the wait! I've gotten requests to do videos talking about matchups myself, but I certainly don't have anywhere near the level of expertise that you do. That being said, I'm glad that you went through with this project and are starting on your path of content creation. I know FOR A FACT that other Greninja players are extremely appreciative of you putting so much effort into your streams and videos to give us so much information to learn from. And with that said, I'm looking forward to more content coming out from you in the future. Welcome to RUclips Venia :)
