      We’re validating the measurement taken was accurate. There are times you will get false readings and shim incorrectly. • @paragonarmory
      @paragonarmory 2 месяца назад

      Krytac sector gear tappet cam timing is really advanced (meaning early). You will need to compensate for this by trimming the pickup portion of the tappet plate. Go little by little until you have your desired results. Be careful not to trim too far down towards the middle of the fin as this can prevent how far back the tappet / nozzle can retract.

  • @error262
    @error262 2 месяца назад

    It's worth mentioning that you also DON'T want too early tappet pickup. Above 25RPS on SSG you'd get tappet PME where tappet gets picked up before the piston has flown completely forward. In those cases you want as late tappet pickup as possible. For 30+ SSG RPS you need JVAN or similar gears that have really late tappet pickup. I've tested a set of 13:1 SHS gears that were short stroked by 2 teeth at the pickup with a small delayer chip facing towards the nearest teeth (go the right if the pin is at top). Results were around 1.5J 25rps, 1.4J 28RPS, 1.3J 32RPS. Checked with adjustable speed T238 brushless. Same is valid for 50+ RPS DSG builds tho there's not a lot that can be done. You can cut the tappet pickup to be as late as possible and get gears with the latest pickup possible (JVAN) but you'll struggle to get no fps problems above 50RPS.

    • @paragonarmory
      @paragonarmory 2 месяца назад

      @@error262 tappet PME is certainly a concern for some builds. I probably should have spent more time talking about this. If we follow the rule of the tappet starting its retraction around the same time the piston does, we shouldn’t encounter tappet PME. The tappet pickup would need to be extremely advanced for it to occur. I run the default timing on RA tappets with 33k brushless and 14:1 short stroked. No issues with this timing. I’ll need to record a follow up video to cover a few more topics in depth.

    • @meanmarine24
      @meanmarine24 2 месяца назад

      I've found that tappet PME is more an issue for short barreled builds. Most likely because of two reasons: 1: The BB exists earlier, letting out the pressure and letting the piston move/settling fully forwards earlier 2: A stronger spring is used to compensate for the shorter barrel, which again brings the piston forward faster. In those cases, working with the Tappet engagement is critical and very easy to correlate the FPS drop with RPS increase.
