Shame to hear you have to do a lot of unpaid work, I am more interesting in the technician side, but maybe you should look into getting the files of performance captures you do, and then you can put them up as assets that can be purchased and used like Movella, Actor Core and Mixamo.
@@Henbot of course I’d love to have the footage myself but often in the agreements they state they have the ownership and rights to the footage and is pretty common with most studios and companies. But if you had a set up yourself then would be perfect!
@ damn shame and seems unfair. They likely are selling that sort of stuff on the mocap libraries and you won’t be getting any royalties
@ yeah unfortunately doesn’t really work like that with Mocap data and footage rights
Cool video, thanks for the info
@@Henbot no problem! Thank you for watching!!
Represented in US (Oklahoma, Texas and Atlanta) I have had agents charge a percentage of anywhere between 10-20%. A lot of it depends on if it is a SAG project or not.
@@DerykRonk oh really? That’s good to know. Yeah I guess it does depend on which state you’re in could differ in percentage. Thanks for letting me know!

I already have a career in Opera Performance and I found the field of Mocap pretty late in my career. But I'm really interested in preparing myself for it, since I have a vast dance background and theater acting experience. Is it unusual to find singers or other artists in the mocap field?
@@HighPear100 oh that’s so awesome! Nope! Never too late to get into it and I honestly wouldn’t doubt your current skills could help give you a different edge in the field. But having a dance background will definitely help of what I’ve seen of people I know. Not unusual to be honest as a lot of us are theatre kids 😜 If there’s anything else I can help with just let me know!
I recently went to a job fair, where I wanted to talk to this actor who was there (Michael Strickland) Couldn't find Michael at first, but I did see another group that had a TV showing animations for video games, so I went over there and asked what they do, but mainly asked if they do mo-cap work. Where the lady there said they do - but they're a small group, sort story to that is I basically said how passionate I am on mo-cap and she gave me a card to contact someone to see if I can help around the studio. Though talking to Michael was very nice, I got straight to the point on wanting to become an actor for motion/performance capture, where we talked for 45 minutes on acting and the industry and his acting classes he teaches. (The only reason I did go to the job fair though was because of this video, plus the genuine happiness I felt talking to people who had interest in the things I wanted to learn, plus I didn't show up unprepared.)
@@just_kelly8838 awe I love that so much!!! I’m so glad it went well and yes makes such a difference with putting yourself out there. Is such a cliche but networking and getting to know people can make such a difference but also just great to know there’s other people doing what you do / would like to and that it is all possible!! Thank you for letting me know, made my day!

Hi Gemma! Great video, incredibly helpful! So basically a Imdb credit usually would qualify for a Spotlight credit? X
@@Ags12345-y thanks so much! And yes - pretty sure it’s still as long as it’s an official credit and speaking role. Hope that helps!
@GemmaWallaceActing thanks so much ❤️
I'm an artist. It's a far cry from being an actor. You sit isolated working away at your craft most of the time. Watched this out of morbid curiosity. I don't have the confidence to put up with half of this. Don't worry about the commercial comment. You look great. Take it from a professional. Good luck!
@@pronoydutta614 that’s awesome though being an artist! Thanks so much and for watching, appreciate it! All the best to you to!
Wow you are really great at acting I wish you good luck 👍
@@SAM-ns9ro thank you for the kind words!! Appreciate it!
Wow You are beautiful 💯❤
I have no idea how this got reccomended to me by youtube. But the southern texas one was insane looking. What movie is that from? And what the heck was in your mouth. Good acting.
@@GodzillaRodeo haha well thanks for watching!! Ah I appreciate that thank you, it was toffee and a lot of syrup 😅🤣
Is that healing scene from a full movie? I was getting into it 😄
It's from a pre-vis film - hopefully will be able to share full clips!
Hello! Next year I’m wanting to take mocap / performance capture classes. My question is for (Let’s say I do make it into mocap / performance capture.) Do I have to live close to the city where a mocap / performance capture studio is? I live around an area that will be pretty far for me when I take these classes, and I don’t think there’s a mocap / performance capture studio near me.
@@just_kelly8838 hey! So I feel this is a similar comparison like with acting for film or do you need to be in london for acting. I feel that it can help, but they can also cover your travel if you land the role or you would take the hit of travel coming out of your payment. A lot of my roles have been in London and I currently live in Leeds - you just have to be happy to travel. I don’t think you have to - but of course it could help or just be prepared to travel! Hope that helps! Wish you all the best in it!! 😁
I'm entering college, but I dont know what major I should take that will help me with mocap acting.
@@christianvillagomez7569 ooo that’s a tricky one. In my opinion motion capture is a mixture of theatre and screen acting depending what you’re shooting. But either way I believe will benefit! Maybe look at the course curriculums prior to see if any of the modules cover Mocap in any form. Hope that helps a bit!
@GemmaWallaceActing what I'm shooting with mocap acting is this ruclips.net/video/6gskZdJ8rF8/видео.htmlsi=Ic_WmzGMK5C_P0Zi Also, mocap acting doesn't necessarily require some college degree, right? What are the requirements needed or what is best for this work field, especially with what is shown in this video I send, and how can I do does requirements? What courses are up-to-date and their locations(my location is in the northern parts of Texas and if there's any close here, I would like to know, but if there's isn't, I would still like to know where are they mostly located). I'm sorry if I'm asking too many questions, I'm just soo into this field since it's a field where I can keep up doing MA. Even today, it is hard to get info for mocap acting, and hardly anyone knows about it, my high school and college advisors didn't even know this existed.
@@christianvillagomez7569 so that is a lot more combat / action. Involved. There are more courses these days that include stage combat - that would definitely help you get into Mocap down the line to have other skills alongside acting 😁
Blink for life...
The movie biz is all who you know. Legally they have to do auditions but they always give the jobs to their close friends and inner circle mates. The industry is BS.
This is the first video I've come across of yours and I instantly subscribed. I'm always so scared I'm too late/old to jump into the mocap/performance capture field but this video was super insightful. Time to get my foot in the door. Thank you! also, the doggo was a pleasant surprise <3
Awe thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed! Noooo! Never too late as I honestly feel there’s so much range you never know what opportunities could arise. I’m so glad to hear, you got this!! Haha he will always be the star 😜🐶
As much as I appreciate listening to US actors' experiences, it's not always relatable, so it's great to hear from a British actor. "Trust your gut" is the key to navigating our industry and is sound advice. Thank you 😁✌🏾💚🇬🇧
That means a lot thanks so much! Yeah I agree, as much as we try to help, we will each have such a different path in this industry 😅😊
So cool that you got to go to the viewing, where can we watch the film? also if you need someone to go with next time lemme know! 😁
So I believe it’s just currently going through film festivals but once it’s fully out I’ll let you know! Ah yes I’ll defo keep that in mind!! 😁
@@GemmaWallaceActing seriously do 😀😀
Love the clip of you in RED 1. Very natural, very believable. Great job!
Awe thanks so much! Really appreciate it!!
Considering Spotlight's move towards the darkside over the past 12 months (crazily increasing prices, exploitative practices, lowering standards etc.), and Equity's new stance against them, do you still recommend people actually need to be on Spotlight? Has being a member helped you get a lot of work since you joined? I used to be a member, but just can't support their practices now.
To be honest I’m still kinda torn with this exact point. It is crazy prices and personally life never landed a role on the platform. But then again I have had self tapes more now - but do think that’s down having a good agent who personalises my submissions. Sorry to say but I’m not decided yet…. But do agree the tiered paying things was off
Thanks for the reply! I read from many actors across social media, "I have never got a job from Spotlight, but still feel I have to be on there." I would like to say that I hope the industry is moving towards change, but I always seem to get roasted on Facebook by actors when I suggest they stop paying the industry Mob (Spotlight), as if they were all Stockholm Syndrome sufferers. 🤣 But it is what it is. I did a search yesterday for a few hours, and identified several agencies, both large and boutique, that don't require Spotlight for representation. I'll definitely be going in that direction once I'm ready to seek representation in the UK. Anyhow, best of luck with you continuing journey. Hope to see more videos from you soon! @@GemmaWallaceActing
Hi there, really appreciate your videos! I’m a screenwriter, and it’s really interesting to see the actor’s side of the process. I love your openness and honesty. I absolutely understand where you’re coming from with the Zoom nerves, if it makes you feel any better, the people on the other side definitely feel the same! Film-making is a wonderfully collaborative process, and it's great to hear a different point of view. Keep doing you, you’re awesome!
That really means a lot thank you so much!! Ahh that's so nice to hear as sure you've encountered many nervous and over energetic actors via zoom :'D haha. THank you again and for watching!!!
LEDs might be easier but nawww soft boxes are much nicer light - I poo poo all LEDs won’t work with them on any set ever. Old fashioned red heads and tungsten filament lights still have the BEST colour, the oldest and cheapest are the best 💁🏻♀️
Ahhh yeah I respect that! They are good!!
absolute bitch to work with, red hot, bulbs shatter & blow, need to be bounced into reflectors or its like the sun burning in the room BUT - I saw a photographer using these things and was like- why the fuck why - then I tried and i was like, omg i see why. fuck the modern lights they make gross images@@GemmaWallaceActing

Just watched this as I'm curious how to make a shiwreel. This is awesome! 🎉
Thanks so much! And I edit all my clips via adobe premiere pro and try to clip the best scenes for my reels :)
Hey! Just wanted to say that this is such a beautiful build but you have 2 major flaw. First is the GPU, it is plugged in on the very bottom PCIE slot. i would suggest you put it on the top PCIE slot, right under the cpu cooler, to get every ounce of performance you can! ATM its not performing at it should and being under utilized. Secondly is the CPU cooler fan. i noticed that the cpu fan is facing the back case fan and they are working against each other! i suggest you put the cooler fan in front of the cooler so it will pull in air, through the radiator, and blow air from the back and be sucked out by the rear case fan cuz right now the back case fan is pulling air out while the cpu fan is trying to pull air in!
I really appreciate the feedback thanks so much! Will definitely make these adjustments when I next open it thank you again!!
Do you buy your PC during COVID time ? because that pc with that price is quite expensive Because recently I got pc and I paid around 719 Pounds My pc specifications RTX 3060 , i7 11th so it's quite Similar to your PC btw I Transferred that much money I paid to your currency "pounds" with my currency because It's different and to make it easier for you to know how much I paid
i7 11th for 700 pounds pc? That's to much i think
Yeah it was actually, I never really thought about that factor! Most likely jacked up all the prices for all my parts 😅 That was helpful thanks for that!!
lol didn't even build it
But I learnt along the way 😁
The motherboard is crazy expensive in comparison to the parts that can actually affect preformance
also why not go with an nvme?
Didn’t go nvme as was just a little out my budget with the other prices 😁
I prefer your acting videos. 😊
Don’t worry I’ll still be making them too! Know more about that… 😜😂
this seemed cool but can you add the fact youre talking specifically about drama and acting?
I have included it in the title now incase anyones new to my channel and don't realise it's around acting related topics :) Thanks for the feedback!
What are your videos about?
My videos are tips and advice about the acting industry and things I wish I knew when starting out or questions I get asked an actor 😁
Thank you very much for your videos! They are very helpful!🥰
No problem! So glad you liked it and hopefully was helpful!
I am a new writer. What advice do you have for me to sell my script?
Ooo so the writing side isn’t really my forte, but I’d say look at production companies, producers possibly? I know few people who get writing mentors and with their experience and knowledge would definitely be able to help!
What job has been your most enjoyable one whilst persuing a creative one?
Thank you. I am sifting through YT looking for good and honest descriptions for acting students who need to start thinking about working in the real world. I know they'll appreciate this 😀
I’m so glad, really do hope it helps or just give some ideas 😁 thanks for watching!
What's been your favourite job so far? :D
You can RECORD YOURSELF AS THE actor/READER AND YOU CAN HAVE YOURSELF PLAY OFF.
Ah yeah I like that one! Good idea!
You got rehearse the thoughts going in your head to pull it off
Cool video. But probably worth mentioning that most things 99% of them even are provided for if it’s a proper budget production. You don’t need to bring a script as they give you daily sides. Pretty much just need to bring yourself!
Thanks for the watch and yes that’s very true! 😁
