The contrast in “sons of God” and “humankind” are not of human to human but of spiritual beings to humankind. The “sons of God” are not demons, they are rebelling angels. They had a function, their proper place was in the spiritual realm, not earthly. They left it. Angels have taken human, male form elsewhere in scripture (I.e. with Lot & Abram). They ate, they slept, they had human capabilities. Hebrews 13:2, we entertain angels unaware. It is not that angels are incapable of human functions when they take human form, it is that they were not intended to leave their proper domain and seek earthly pleasures and make it their permanent domain. It does not say they can’t be given in marriage, it says they are not given in marriage in heaven …because that is a comfort that was meant for earthly beings not spiritual. 2 Peter 2:4-5 & Jude 6 they left their own domain, they deserted it, and God saved who when this happened? Noah and seven others and locked up the angels who sinned in chains in Tartarus to be kept for judgment (they are not free, they are not the demons who posses or oppress people) for their sin of deserting their spiritual realm, their proper place and function for earthly pursuits and corrupting humankind. The mere marrying of believers and unbelievers do not produce a genetically mutated race of “giants”. These children become the “bastards spirits”, the demons, disembodied spirits upon their death. Those children furthered the corruption and depravity of their fathers. Dr. Michael Heiser has a very comprehensive, scriptural study on this in his “Supernatural”, “The Unseen Realm”, “Demons” and “Angels” video series on YT and books. He served as Logos’s scholar-in-residence from 2004 to 2019. During and after his tenure at Logos, he wrote ten books with Lexham Press, taught or contributed to more than thirteen Logos Mobile Education courses, and appeared in many Faithlife Original films. I've waited all my life for preaching like this. I'm 41 and only now beginning to get over my pew-sitting days. But real context, lots of bible rightly expounded, contemporary political troubles not shied away from, and not overly formalized? Where's this been all my life. 🙂 I mean, aren't we supposed to keep all those things separate and crawl back home after the 'service' is over? I agree with Answers In Genesis from an Institute For Creation Research angle: There Is One Human Kind, as in biological family relation, historical family tree, and it does not diverge into intrinsically separate gene pools or absolutely separate traits (tangible or intangible) of any type. This sermon began early on talking about Adam to Noah. So keep with that theme. It is the scriptural theme. Survive and don't get beaten up? Or rather, there is inevitable defeat yet we must resist it? These were large parts of my youth. American born. Nothing major - besides religion - to set me apart. But where is my 'group' and what is my 'grievance' and how is its narrative to relate to those already set up generations ago? Yes, humans are geographical migrants. Yes, property borders exist and their roots are in metaphysical personal claims of right earning and transfer of authority. Thomas Sowell has some good explanations for how to handle disparity and how to tackle challenges, almost a full picture. I believe we can describe our stories with traits and descriptors that are passable and that over one or two generations are transitory from one category to another. Differences of form are a real thing, but the actual cause-effect, priority of categorization & description, and differences of treatment is where 'diversity' gets into trouble. Ultimately, economic exchange is a melting pot - and where does it go except return to the Human. OBI (Open Bible Individualism).
