My Audio System: How Good Can It Get!
Просмотров 32 тыс.5 лет назад
Obviously, there are 2 factors here that this poor guy didn't take into consideration, one with age you lose your hearing, and a good set of headphones are pretty hard to beat.
Ok. Now lets see the black guys systhem 😂
Shite music
I’m 66 and have been working since 14. I also have a wood shop and tons of tools. Unfortunately I still have a mortgage and can’t retire yet, but I still enjoy working in my shop. My 20 yo youngest son is into old school stereos. Such a joy to see his enthusiasm. Enjoyed your episode. Thank you
for a guy who is so perfectionist about the music, he clearly doesn't give a shit how much shit is on the actual disc. That closeup shot was horrendous. Clearly visible hairs and dust on it!
He blew my mind.wow
I guess…. I mean if there weren’t any hungry or homeless people. Whitey’s still on the moon
seems to be a great guy.
In the end, it did get parted out. I saw the auction on ebid
He's right! It sounds fantastic on my MacBookPro xD
Why did you have to use a camera with a broken autofocus?
To spend so much money only to die then have this stuff end up Goodwill.
Pretty outrageous, but can't help but think what he's going to do when his hearing degrades to the point you no longer have the ability to discern high quality audio vs low quality? We ALL age and degrade.
And after his death, everything WAS parted out. "... Carted off ... in U-Haul trucks ... scattered to the winds," Stereophile would write. Very sad.
i wish i was rich that krel pre amp alone is 30k$ so thats prob a 300k$ system ez
Sorry, but I have been to a few DB drags that can blow this system out of the water. 50+thousand watts
I don't want to see this parted out it would be breaking up a dream. And that is exactly what happened after ken passed.
At least it wasnt only Kens Dream But Reality and he knew exactly what love is.
Wow am I glad to have clicked on this. This man is an inspiration, everything about that room & stereo system he built is just fantastic. The attention to detail as well as the determination it takes to accomplish building something like that, all with his own hands is amazing. So sorry to hear that he passed as he looked in shape & wonderful for his age. Rip Mr Fritz
But, can it withstand DJ Magic Mike's album "Bass: The Final Frontier"
Amazing to bad the room is so ugly
Pure passion! Very inspiring... Thank you for sharing your wisdom and passion with us!! Rip Ken
Awe.
He sounds and talk like Giovanni Giorgio Moroder in "Giorgio by Moroder" by daft punk!
I didn't understand much of the Tech speak but he is obviously dedicated,👌
....and plays records. This dude is whack.
What a wonderful man!
Always be true to yourself. Go for VICTORY.
He died?
He suffered from Als, it started shortly after this interview… Im not to sure if he is still around or not. But know his motor function is not the same :(
I built two klipsch horn loaned systems out of concrete cast in cardboard moulds and reinforced branding wood. No cone movement. 55 percent efficient. Nothing like it. 450 watt rms drivers
I hope he’s still enjoying his system.
I want to play "bigger than hiphop" on this so baaaad
One decent set of headphones would have saved hm all that work and money
This is ridiculous, who needs vinyl which is old school, that turntable is stupid, even middle quality cd player sounds better.
Spoken like a true ignorant muppet who knows nothing about high end audio.
So so many haters in the comments. It burns the soul of these jerks that someone fulfilled their dream. If someone doesn't push the limits, then what is possible ? Sacrifice's , dedication , innovation, that is what it takes. Let alone the other professionals that get to push the limits of their abilities, and make a living because of this guy. Like it or not this system is amazing, beyond any haters comprehension. Go back to your unfulfilled lifes. You suck. Maybe push the limits on toothpicks, or Xmas decorations... Its more your speed anyway.
So the system was auctioned off. From Washinton Post..."The total take for the million-dollar stereo system, including the speakers, the turntable, the dozens of other components from detached cones to the reel-to-reel decks? $156,800. But perhaps that was always going to be its fate... The value, the auctioneer said, was whatever somebody else was willing to pay for it."
I would love to have heard your wife’s take on your obsession. Look into Ocean Way Audio’s speakers. Alan Sides sold several of the best studios in Los Angeles to make speakers and amplifiers for them. Aww, my heart broke listening to your memories of your daughter. I was in rock radio, now retired as well. You are an inspiration. ❤
Gorgeous pressing. I studied the vinyl business and decided long ago: if the manufacturers don’t care, I don’t care. I would love to know how you get flawless pressings of classical music! I understand there are a small handful of labels who do care.
The music I would listen to in this room! Classical, symphony's, EDM, Hip-Hop, some good bass songs, trap, house, trance, dubstep.
En de klok zegt tik-tak.. 🫣
He seems never to have measured anything? No assessment of actual vibrations to dampen or how the rubber strings alter the in-room response of the speakers other than a non-blinded test? Seems foolish with this level of effort and expense not to set empirical goals.
Come on, not even 2:30 minutes in and we have adverts! This is almost a 1 hour clip, how many more adverts are we forced to watch?
is it too much to ask to see him put the record on the turntable and play the damn thing??
Any sound system is only as good as the quality of your hearing. Which obviously declines as we age.
So... Ken spent 40 years building his dream stereo system, and the first thing his family does after he passed away.... auction it off ?. I would've faught tooth and nail to keep the system intact and inplace if that had been my dad building that system. Why did they auction it off for cents on the dollar ?.
I bet they couldn't wait to get rid of it. I bet if they had more money to go around they would have burned it to the ground just for the enjoyment.
I would have thought a red wine paired better with Tchaikovsky.
Incredible. Was curious what happened to his system so did some googling. Sounds like the various bits got auctioned off separately for pennies on the dollar, pretty sad.
Monument to mental illness auctioned off for pennies on the dollar. Yeah okay. so sad.
Thanks for sharing your amazing audio journey to fulfill your passion for beautiful music. You live in a sonic paradise.
at his age most of the high end notes are wasted as he cant hear them anymore, thats just a fact of old age. What a waste of money
Only to you. It was his passion but then again you wouldn’t know anything about passion.
Wish I could hear a tool album- 10,000 days. Maybe mars volta- frances the mute. And of course. Some led zeppelin
Awesome
Thank you Mr. Fritz.
