    I love mine also, it's a dam good welder, use spatter spray and the beads wont stick. I got the 50.00 welding cart, I don't need the tank area so I moved the shelf all the way to the back, giving me more storage in front, also I lowered the center shelf 3" and put my stick welder on that. Also added more hangers for cords.

  • @Slim1423

    Is that a 10 pound roll of welding wire in your welder? If so, did you have any trouble feeding that wire through your welder without causing birdnest issues? Also, did you need a adapter to run that 10 pound roll of wire on your welder, or did you just use standard parts that came with that welder?

    • @ziptiesandducktape7468

    I'm curious if the Borax and pH of 9 or higher is still working out for you to control rust? My concern doing that is that a pH of 9 or higher can adversely affect the corrosion control for non-ferrous metals (didn't know how much aluminum, brass, bronze, etc was near where this water would splash and possible corrode. Wasn't sure if you had considered using Sodium Nitrite powder instead (nitrite, not nitrate). It can be harder to get and is more expensive. In the video you mention amounts to use, to make a 5 gallon amount. Do you then add that to the other 10 gallons of water, or is that your recipe PER 5 gallons? Also, I would recommend adding a little bit of an algaecide/fungicide/bactericide/virucide to the water. pH of 9 will help, but you can still grow stuff in that water. Thanks for this video, it answered much of what I was wondering about building my own drainage, filtering, anti-corrosive, anti-fungal, storage, and pumping solution for my Crossfire Pro. Have a great day!

    If it creates slag, always drag it. Pushing the flux core foreward can cause slag to be trapped in the welds that cam compromise the structural integrity

    Good tutorial video. Nice looking welds too. I picked up one of these Chicago welders and hope to start getting projects finished this summer. Love Harbor Freight! On a side note, that's not wind messing with your sound. That's the energy/sound frequency coming off the welder and the work area interfering with the mic. I also run in to this phenomenon when filming mini bikes drag racing. The mic works just fine when the mini bikes are staged but once they launch and head down the track...there's something about the frequency that a small 196 to 224 CC engine operates at that sends feedback out and it interfere's with microphones. You can also see the waves the frequency causes when you look at a mini bike like a Coleman BT200x or CT100U idling with no one sitting on it. Parts of the bike look like it's undulating. It's kind of freaky to see.

    hey im learning to weld bought this same welder myself, so far i really like it for the money, what size wire you use. i have .035 but have seen people say .030 is better.

    • @Slim1423
      @Slim1423 10 месяцев назад

      Some say .030 wire welds better on thinner metal, but may take more material to weld and fill in gaps on thicker metal. Some say .030 wire gives better looking welds with fluxcore, but the brand of wire you use is a factor there too. I bought some Blue Demon .030 wire recently and i want to try it, never used that wire brand before.

    I love mine too #63583 👍 I've had it a few years now and it's great! Do need at least a 20amp dedicated outlet for long welds. Used it on standard 15amp for short runs without tripping the panel breaker if the welds are short. It's tackled everything I've thrown at it from thick to thin and even welding cast iron block bearings to mild steel. It's sweet spot is definitely 1/8" on high at 5-6 speed. It burns hot! I've punched through the end of my weld once or twice. Penetration is great! Beveled edges on the steel do help if you're a perfectionist. Only takes a few seconds longer when you're already cutting and grinding. If the steel is super cold! Blowtorch the spot where you're starting at for a few ~20 seconds. Makes the start of your weld as pretty as the end. It will do 3/8 no problem and probably thicker. And the thin gauge stuff like exhaust welding. You just have to play around with it and dial it in just right. Patience! Then you're good to go! The settings are simple and there's actually a ton of flexibility with that without making it complicated. Your technique is one of the biggest settings! All the haters are just pissed because they paid a ton more when this unit can do a very decent weld! They don't want to admit it! Yeah sure it might be a little more messy with the splatter but so what! That cleans up easy enough. I find that INE wire to be really clean on an AC buzz box like this. Almost as clean as a DC welder. AC welding has been around forever! Nothing wrong with that. I think that Lincoln wire is good too! But that Italian ine-tube stuff (whatever it's called) melts like butter with almost no splatter! I do recommend upgrading the ground clamp and replacing the factory nozzle for a flux welder type sleeve for the gun. Helps getting into small corners and just seeing better what you're doing in general. Thought about doing a DC conversion with a bridge rectifier. But I really see no reason to the way it is. Good wire, good ground clamp is all you really need. And ditch the pointless gas nozzle and get a auto darkening helmet.

    • @577buttfan
      @577buttfan Год назад

      Yup I punched through the end of my welds a few times with it but that is most likely cause I can't see that great and I'm staying in one spot for too long.Also think the end of the piece of metal is always the easiest spot to burn through.

    • @Alchemist39
      @Alchemist39 Год назад

      @@577buttfan Yeah by the end of your weld is when the metal is the hottest! Especially if you finish on an edge. Let the metal cool some and just fill it back in with a small bead if you punch through. That's probably the best option. Or, stop the weld an inch or so early. Then finish the weld all the way. That's if you're not too picky. And always clean 🔨 🪥 the metal before you start again. Also, if you're going to weld in the dead of winter, or anytime really. Put a blowtorch on your starting spot for a minute or so. Maybe 30 seconds in summer. Then your weld will take 100% better starting out, and look about the same as the point where you finish. Good little cheat trick 🔥

    • @Slim1423
      @Slim1423 10 месяцев назад

      When you used your welder on 15 amp circuit, was that with a 15 amp extension cord attached to your welder or with the welder plugged directly into a 15 amp wall socket? I need a welder to do exhaust work to weld a cat into my exhaust, but i only have a 15 amp power source from my home. Just want to weld around both ends of the cat to attach to my exhaust without blowing a fuse.

    • @Alchemist39
      @Alchemist39 10 месяцев назад

      @@Slim1423 you should be fine even with a standard cord like that. You'll probably have it dialed down for exhaust work. Full power for thick heavy welds you'll probably have a problem after about a minute or so. Do some practice welds on some scrap pieces and give it a go! Should be fine 👍

      @@Alchemist39Thanks for that info. Chicago Electric 125 welder on a early Black Friday sale now at HF for $87.99 . So, i might get it and the fact this welder can run the 10 pound wire roll is a added plus. There are a lot of good reviews about this welder too at HF. Some say if you run a good name brand of weld wire through it, it will lay down a better weld with less spatter.

    I was told flux core was dirty, you can't use it for auto body, you get what you pay for.... blah, blah, blah... ALL BULLSHIT. I'm currently restoring my 78 Pontiac Firebird formula. 90% of the welding I've done on the body, was done with a Chicago Electric 125 flux core welder.Of course, I did all the modifications to make it a true DCEN welder, but my point is this, this welder is great. The quality of the welding is on you. If you're willing to do the prep, take the time to do the research on technique, and do alittle clean up, this welder is fine. I love mine, and I'll keep it long after my mig and gas bottle are gone...good video...
