Pretty wild how this game was 1 v 2, huge implications, a big comeback, winner went on to win the NC, but somehow 11 years later the “Game of the Century” was hyped up and became the most boring game of all time with Bama and LSU.
I was 20 years old and in my junior year of college when this happened. A bunch of us crowded into the dorm lobby with a TV set and watched this game. I wasnt sure about OU in the games prior to this one, I thought they were good but still wasnt getting my hopes up. When this game happened and I saw OU come back from a 14 point deficit and score 31 unanswered points against the #1 team in the nation, I knew then, in that moment, that we were going to win the national championship. Josh Heupel was just not going to allow the team to lose... period.
These 2 teams entered this game, what, both undefeated I think. We may not get a #1 vs. #2 for awhile, unfortunately......just over half-way through the 2022 season, and these two teams have combined for EIGHT total losses. Oklahoma used to not get 8 losses, themselves, over even a five year period under Bud, Barry, and Bob....but I think Brent will turn things around, given enough time. PS if you want to be an Oklahoma head coach you better have your name start with a "B"!
Coach V talked about this game in his presser yesterday and got pretty emotional being upset about him wanting to get home and get some sleep instead of taking in the moment when students tore down the goalposts. We got an upgrade.
This was the game where I finally believed we were that good. Beating the #&^% out of Texas, that could have been a fluke. Beating #2 K State at their place, maybe we over-achieved. But to come back from being down 14-0 and win going away against #1 Nebraska made you a believer.
2:09:00 "He's had twins." And 21 years later, we got to watch one of those twins catch a touchdown in a bowl game with him coaching. Humbling to think about.
1:32:21 Wild to look at that and think that 21 years later, he would become the head coach for OU. It's also kinda ironic seeing him being the "get back" coach for Mike Stoops there. Lol
Member watching this game as a kid 8 years old, recorded the whole season with a big ol stand up camcorder, its fuzzy through a few games but really cool tape I have as a souvenir from the last time we won a title, we have one coming in our near future, Brent Venables is making big changes in Norman!!!
Nebraska's fall from football grace in the last 10 years or so is so sad. I don't think the two teams have even been scheduled to play each other in quite some time. I would like to see this rivalry be restarted again.
I've only watched this once before....over 20 years ago. I could call what was going to happen nearly every play. Wow. And with the Josh Norman end around, I would've called it the Stormin Norman.
Starting @ 1:27:12 we hear some Classic Commentary: "Crouch straight drop. Sideline. INTERCEPTED. Derrick Strait.....and Strait might Go Straight to the End Zone! Touchdown." And is that a young and future OU HC we see in Brent Venables starting @ @?
Crouch was so good lol.
Just found my game program and looked through it 2 days ago..i was there..we only sat down during time outs..best game ever!
If If If OU..... WHEN OU......!!! Boomer !!!!
Hearing Nessler and Greise say Josh Heupel looks like Justin Timberlake is hilarious!
Yes it was an awesome rivalry. Good times. Ou fan here. Looking back it was so awesome. 👍
read this post expecting baker mayfield highlights, than i realized this video says 10 years old than i realized this game is 20 years old 😂
And stormed the field lol
My papa and his brother were there they said it was awesome

Thanks to ESPN and the absolute greed of Universities, many great college football rivalries vanished, like this one, UT-A&M, Mizzou-KU.
Nebraska never should have fired Solich or Bo Pelini. Just like Texas shouldn't have fired Mack Brown.
50:51 great touchdown. My favorite If you agree 👇
Just for those of you trying to find the moment Heupel winks to the camera I've been trying to find it 2:07:20

Wow Nebraska made it to #1 that's history
My son and I were there. Still one of my best memories.
My father and I were there. Best OU game of my lifetime
I told my son we could get a lot of money for our 50-yardline seats. He said "dad don't even think about it!"
Josh Heupel should have won the Heisman. He deserves a statue outside the stadium as much as any of the OU Heisman winners.
Love the way Josh Norman runs! Can’t believe he went I drafted and spent only one year in the NFL. What a great talent he was!
tx teams ruined it all
Welcome back indeed!
Venables master class
Tom Osborne the classiest coach my sooners ever faced. I loved the old rivalry.
Even he would say, "don't you think my playing the thug kinda ruined that classiest classification?"
Don't know about classy. See Lawrence Phillips. Christian Petr. On and on. Huskers couldnt get over the hump without felons

I miss when the Big 12 was on top 😔
you can live for the next 100 years, you'll never see nebraska ranked #1 in cfb. Those days are as dead as dead can get.
19:33 Eric Crouch’s TD run was so nasty.
Coach V talked about this game in his presser yesterday and got pretty emotional being upset about him wanting to get home and get some sleep instead of taking in the moment when students tore down the goalposts. We got an upgrade.
Nebraska is garbage..
This. Is the year that. Made Big. Time. Bob Stoop's Right? Venables. Is the DC. Too...!!!

And he's coming back for one more year.

They played each other last season, and they'll play each other this upcoming season.
Stoops just this year head-coached an OU bowl win (2021) against Oregon.

I remember that Woolfolk catch quite vividly...amazing stuff!

I wonder why the Flags were at Half-Staff? We see it starting @ 47:27
There’s our coach! Go Vols!
Man that game was crazy I was there and witnessed greatness
46:18 That may have in fact been how many Orange Bowls theyd been to in the past at that point at 16 if my count is right.
A good one
NEB what happened to y’all?
Watching this before the 2021 OU/Nebraska game.
Thank you for posting this.
