Hi Hein.Thank you for taking the time post this video.VERY helpful. We are doing the same now. Just a question...the bricks on the inside, you put ontop of the lintels....are those normal bricks or firebricks? And what material did you use to grout inbetween them? Normal cement? Thanks in advance.
Hi Neil Yes, the bricks is ontop of the lintels. Just normal pavers, I don't believe in firebricks, no issue whatsoever & it is wY to expensive. Normal cement yes. It's simple but effective. Enjoy your build!!
Hi I’m looking at doing the same concept in our yard. Could you perhaps tell me What is your braai dimension. How big is the braai opening? How deep is your braai. How high is from the floor to the braaing area? Thanks in advance Alfie
Hello Hein. We would like to build something similar in our backyard. Do you have the measurements you used for the braai (either in brick widths / lengths or centimetres)? Is there a particular measurement you need to use to ensure the chimney draws well? Cheers Stuart
Hi, its a standard abf dizzy. No vacuum advance.. If you need vacuum advance you can use the old Golf 1100 or 1300 dizzy that fits in the head as well, but its points & condenser. Convert to electronic then. What setup you running then..?
Hi Thurston, well for a standard 110kw abf motor you can expect round 18K from Mike's Place. But then the fun starts... Toyota 43mm throttles for R1200, 288 cams from Sportcams, verniers for R8000, Walbro fuelpump R1200, proper headwork etc etc etc.... So from scratch I would say you looking at +- 50K. And then you need to upgrade your suspension, brakes, management, Powerflow etc etc... It took 9 months to finish this project, but loved every second!! I hope this give you a good idea! Nothing better than the sound of the motor screaming at 7800rpm and give a Golf 6 Gti a run for their money...
Wow thanx for that man i will defnitly look into start slowly but surely getting everything and then starting the installation process you know im not in a rush so i will save up
WOW, Beowfuck Gents; and well done from Gauteng! Firstly I hate the 6 dooses that gave you a thumbs down! Me personally...I was so bogged down by all the turbo kak i was dealing with that i forgot to go and have a look at where I started. I am not being vain, bragging at all! Gents I know it takes experience and money to get a project like this taking off and wow your's did take off with this NA project!!! The irony is that once you have HP... you want more, so go Turbo.....spend 100K more and really Fuck Off!!!! Nice job and keep up the good work in preserving THE ICON....GOLF 1!!! :) Check out Kenny Golf 1 Turbo on RUclips. Golfing on.

Sjoe Oom Hein daai was nou baie mooi.
36mm for a 2L? Sounds small but eh who knows, maybe it flows plenty for the head.🤷
36mm for 1 cylinder
288° cam for a 2.0 is actually huge
Hi there! How much did this cost you? I just got quoted 96K for a braai and afdak??
Hi buddy, the braai only was around 20K. A braai & afdak for 96K..? Depends on size I guess.. But fuuuuck 96K is a bit steep I would say..
I resently fit my 2002 caddy volgswagen mk1 a v8 engen and the handlings are not hood
