So awesome! When Art in the Dark was touring in '83, '84, Chris went with us. We would get him up on stage to sing this song, and it was always one of my favorite parts of any show.

AMAZING! Dex... gone but never forgotten. I photographed him in 1984 or so when he was busking on Franklin Street over a UNC fall break. I was a junior & DTH photo editor. If I ever come across that I'll have it scanned and send @propellersoundrecordings a copy for the archives. I trust there is an visual/text archive somewhere? Thanks for this great piece of work, @polavision. And thanks for all the music, PSR.

I just got a message on Facebook from Propeller Records. Scammers are selling Dex T Shirts. I wondered what he'd been up to since Carboro because I lack the discipline to pay attention to such things. I love that album. Of course it didn't take me long to discover why. Much too young to be leaving us. Condolences to his family and friends.

Living in Houston I miss my youth, Record Archive, Bristol Mountain, Scorgie's, the Red Creek, and New Math.

A TOWERING CLASSIC!

I saw both Flat Duo Jets and Dex Romweber Duo many times. As much as I loved FDJ, I loved the two of them together even more. She was a fantastic drummer, seriously underrated, and their chemistry was fantastic. Such a loss. Another one of his sisters said he never really got over Sara’s death and that contributed to his own. Just very sad.

I've been enjoying all the new vinyl pressings Propeller has been releasing. The internet is hella more convenient than going through all the 3rd generation mix tapes we put these songs on back then. But I'm a physical media person - so another pre-order. I don't know much about New Math. The songs I heard in the early 80s sounded a bit like Japan with a dash of The Fall. On another note - I introduced Mercyland to several friends in the UK. They were having a hard time getting copies in their shops. Since Brexit shipping is a lot of the time more expensive than the item itself. Are there any UK or EU distributers?

just recently I was listening to "Carborro" again and started wondering what Dex was up to. Searched on the internet and saw he put out an album last year and I was happy. Then saw the obituaries and was sad. Picked up the album on vinyl at a record shop nearby and listening to it is bittersweet today. He was full of life up to the end.
