Hello! 🙂 Thank you very much indeed for your kind message and I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Up to this point I've not put any of my own preset builds up for sale, although I've considered it a few times... maybe I should do. However, I'll be completely transparent about this preset that I used on this performance... It is one of the factory ones that come with the Deluxe (maybe on other Hydrasynth models too, but I'm not sure). I used 'F003 Earthshine ET' which is in the 'single' banks not the multi banks. I then moved the octave down twice and went from there. I edited the preset a bit and the reverb etc... but the core sound was not built by me... Sadly, because its blooming ace. With that said, the sounds I use in my performances are usually my own built presets, so if there are any others that you like let me know and I'll happily show you how I built them 🙂... and a big thank you for checking out my channel, you're welcome here and I hope you'll consider watching some of my other performances 🙏

I’m considering getting the monologue instead of the XD, It doesn’t come with any presets which is a shame 😢. It also means that i might need to invest in some effect pedals to give it something extra to work with. Is there any effect pedals you would recommend for ambience?

@@samsfamousmusiclounge Hey up Sam 🙂 Of course I'll offer some advice mate... Firstly, what is making you think of a Monologue instead? Well I still stand by recommending one of the pedals that you've seen me use in videos... The Nux Cerberus, good quality, good sounding and a good price for what you get. Its a multi effects pedal that can save presets including your own that you can make. It comes with a few already. It can be used in preset mode where one button press switches you to a whole load of instant, pre-determined sounds, which is awesome for fast changes and exacylt hopw you want the sounds to be... Alternatively you can use the pedal as a stomp box style, so each section (Reverb, Modulation, Overdrive & Distortion) can be toggled on or off... much like if you had a row of 4 or 5 individual pedals. I’ve been considering the Monologue instead of the Minilogue XD, mainly because of the price difference-it still offers a lot of synth for the money. That said, your recommendation about the Nux Cerberus pedal really caught my interest. It seems like a fantastic option with great value, especially with its flexibility!

@@samsfamousmusiclounge Yeah that pedal is great for the price, sounds great with a synth too… analogue overdrive and distortion which is so warm and rich. If I was you I’d just keep saving for an XD if the main reason is the cost… I think you may (or not) feel that you wish the monologue could do what you’ve seen it do when you borrowed mine. The monologue will be a good piece of kit, but obviously it’s a mono synth, which is ace, but would you want a poly synth? The XD is a poly synth. Just in case you’re not sure… poly means able to play more than one voice/note at the same time… it goes deeper than that but, for example… chords aren’t normally doable on a mono synth

Hello mate 😃 yes you’re absolutely right, I have one, we discussed it a little a few months back but I’m happy to tell you more… I like it, although I’ve not used it much for a while. Not for any negative reason, I think it’s just that the hydra keeps grabbing my attention 😂. The Opsix is a great and underrated synth in my opinion. It sounds very crisp and high quality. There are some lovely presets in it but making your own is relatively easy compared to some other synths. Have you seen any preset sounds videos?

@rickhopkinson Thank you mate for your feedback! I was very curious about both the Opsix and Wavestate. I understand the Wavestate might be more interesting but challenging to program. It appears that the Opsix is a little easier. I hope it sounds as nice and I can make adjustments!

Yeah I do wish I’d recorded it from the stereo line out, but I’m grateful Kev captured it for me as without him it wouldn’t be captured at all… I have a Behringer Eurorack RX1602 V2 Rackmount mixer coming next month… so I can get up to 8 stereo ins and 1 stereo out to the house PA. So faster setups and can capture all the gear I’ll have live. So some progress will be made… thanks for watching Maurizio!!

Hello Rainer! Thank you my friend 🙏🏻 yep the Korgies and their little sister the Lemondrop… glad it worked for you mate. I thought they gelled together nicely… Yes the lights and the projection was done by Dave Walker from the venue and was on a fixed cycle or pattern I think. I don’t think the music was making it react but people in the room were shown in the projection in an altered way which was very cool and it did work and give a good atmosphere. Until a few months ago when I messaged Andy Abbott, I didn’t know these existed and I was looking for ‘where can I play my stuff’ much like I imagine you were doing at some point too… I think it’s a great underground movement… I want to carry on playing the local ones, but also start to branch outward to other towns and cities… then soon arrange my own exclusive gig and get a support act involved… What would you think to us playing together on the same gig at some point in 2025? 😉

@@rickhopkinson You would do great here in London as I feel we need more ambient artists around. Most of the times is more beat based electronic music and some electronica. But probably a bit far for you... But used to be NICHE days in Hackney were awesome but it's been a while since they have done one. There is also an alternative Open even SOAM that is more your jam in Avalon Cafe. We played there a couple of weeks ago and it was amazing line up. Check it out. Up for organising something together for sure. As we need to make a proper tour next year ( We just signed with an Agency) . How about Leeds? We can put a pitch together and get the ball rolling.

Hey up Nian, oh that’s great to hear you’ve signed to an agency… the thought has crossed my mind a few times but not researched which would be a good one that’s interested in ambient / cinematic etc… which one have you signed with if you don’t mind me asking? I’d love to play down in London, but it probably makes sense to work my way outward and get there in due course… it is a little trek for sure haha. @@RainerMuenz Hey up Rainer! 👍😃 Yes it’s a growler for sure mate… yeah I thought a solo, but with a couple of pedals… to show it exclusively etc… Thanks mate I’m glad it did work, it’s always a risk… as I was playing I was laid on my front under my main synth stand to get that angle and the camera was hanging off part of the underside of the stand haha… Do you mean the dark background of the visual shot? If so, I had a led yellow light shining down from up near the ceiling to the top left out of shot… the purple/pink hot lamp light to the right side as you can see… and just off to the left out of shot was my led light slowly fading through the colour spectrum on slowest mode… it was virtually touching the rug and shining to the right so the light was kind of contained… Then in post I added a small anoint of overall cinematic darkening to the footage… (Lumetri preset in Premier Pro) and then I added a Vignette with a high feather amount to blend the gradient between no vignette and having the full amount that I set… I think that was it… I usually add some degree of these in post to add that cinematic vibe… I added a little more in this one. I hope that makes sense mate. All other lights were off.

@@rickhopkinson Haha, I see, you did some sports to make this video... great story. 😅 No, the light is fine. With dark background I mean the soundscape 'under' the drone. As the WASP is a mono synth I was surprised about that, so I was wondering if this comes from the delay/reverb combination. But maybe not... the WASP has two oscillators, so perhaps this is the reason. Would need to experiment with mine again... although I used it yesterday, I made completely different sounds with it (letting it sounding 'soft' if this makes sense).

@@RainerMuenz Hi mate… thanks… ah ok I see what you mean… I think the background sound under the drone part that you mean, I added a little bit of Soundtoys Little Microshift, which creates a wider stereo image by slightly pitch shifting the frequencies… I found it on the previous video and it works nicely … but I kept it at about 30 or 40% etc… more subtle And then a little bit of auto pan but again only across about a 15 degree slow panning pattern.

@@synkrotron Ah so is it more of a modular that needs to stay setup in the studio rather than mobile… like most setups I imagine probably… I’m about to start the step into Eurorack so I’m sure it’ll be a good learning curve for me… Maybe a good excuse for you if you wanted to play an EMOM could be to get a single 84hp row/case specifically for mobile use… 😋😉😉

@@rickhopkinson some peeps do great modular EMOMs but they develop specific setups for live, usually I have got used to my setup as it is and it would be difficult to shrink it down to one case to then take on the road never say never though 🙂
