Scots is a Sister Language to English, thats why you understood a lot. While Modern English has gotten rid of a lot of old English words in favor of words from other Languages like French and Greek. Scots has retained some if not a lot of them depending on the Dialect of Scots you speak.

I am an English-speaking, American for all practical purposes Growing up, I heard a lot of standard German ( In the major American city that I lived in, they were a lot of transplants from Germany who were very happy to leave Germany in the 1950s and settle in the US) Following that, I heard a lot of Yiddish spoken, and some Yiddish speakers almost almost sound like you’re gonna break into English Does sound Very German to me However, some of the emotions that you speakers were communicating, kind of pushed me away As an English speaker, the Scots languages very Easy to comprehend When it comes to the main European based Scandinavian languages, I find Swedish easiest on the ear to pick up sounds I find danish, the most comprehensible only because it’s close to both German and English, and in many cases the precursor of spoken. Danish had a lot of influence on modern English. I feel like I should be able to understand Norwegian, but some pronunciations seem to throw me off The Dutch language sounds like I should be able to login whole phrases I can follow along, but there are gut back of the throat sounds that make words seem to disappear in my ear Of course West Friesen has whole phrases in English that are the same and then there words that go off on a tangent that you’d have to just learn there are words in West Friesian that are shared with modern Scot’s Some of the music the RUclips poster shows could be used in other Scandinavian language like the one for Swedish and it would’ve been better off to have chosen, warm, modern Swedish song, of course, sung by a high-pitched woman’s voice Same with the Norwegian it would be better off, finding a slow melodic woman’s voice with a more modern theme I think, though that it came to the Luxembourg or Limberger language, it’s understandable. You might have a very limited repertoire of songs that you could choose that might have a more comprehension for a wider audience.

I'd say you missed Finland Swedish considering you separated Dutch and Flemish Dutch. It's spoken natively by over 200,000 people and taught in Finland as a second language to all >5,000,000 people. It has official status on the same level as Finnish in some cases and is officially (ish) recognizes as different from Swedish in Sweden, at least to the same extent that Flemish is different to Dutch. Amazing video though. I would have preferred a Kvæð for Faroese however.

As a hungarian, the closest sounding song to my language was perhaps the Mari for some reason but the second was closest was definitely Mansi, which could be expected. Moksha was also interestingly familiar. Many of them sounded heavy on the slavic part like Karelian or Erzya. either way awesome video, I wish we could hear the songs in full.
