Vallecito Colorado creek boating

This is a small edit of a few different trips and laps down Vallecito Creek near bayfield Colorado. The smooth and Steve Granite walls make for a stunning backdrop but also make this a committing gorge. At only one mile-long Vallecito is not the longest run in Colorado but in my opinion is one of the highest quality runs in the whole state. paddlers include Carl Anderson, Noel Parker, Alfredo, ...

The Prijon LUV (liquid utility vehicle) awesome discussion with my friend Chris. I'm happy to have learned so much in this boat, it gave me support when I needed it, and play when I wanted. After spending time in the Fever and Delirious I realized I wanted a smaller boat to match my boating style. I'm happy to hand this boat off to Chris, someone who will enjoy it and appreciates it. #whitewate...

Great vid ! I am looking to buy one on used market, but the knee locks are missings (the one that are screwed at 2 different locations possible), do you know if it's ok without it ?
@@p0ulp3 you'll need to foam it out slightly depending on how big your legs are
Length 263 cm Width 61 cm Weight approx. 18 kg Volume 225 l Gullwing approx. 86x49 cm
Paddled for a day with Kenny back in 2010 approx and he had a carbon version of this which is still one of the best looking boats I've ever saw as it was decked out in green Maori artwork - nice guy, left an impression on us for sure.
Epic, do you remember the waterlevel ?
that was a brave line on 9
Thanks for sharing. Afterwards, I went and bought one! Quick question - At 7:05, you mention the minicell is glued to the hull. Mine seems to be loose. Any idea what glue should be used in regluing?
I use contact cement or any craft cement for glueing foam to plastic
The Hippos make it class 7.
This is my single favorite boat ever made....I've been looking for one for 10 years :( :( :(
I have a yellow one for sale in Colorado
I'll be googling how to get that to Scotland immediately. @@cbrunner420
Sick!!
I've got a luv I NEED to get on the water. My problem is that I'm missing one of the seat adjustment plates. Any chance you have an extra laying around I could purchase??
Hi Cole, Thanks a bunch for your hot creeking stuff! It seems you switched from Prijon to Lettmann :) I understand the pike is too narrow for this kind of creeking. Do you still use it? Cheers ,Martin.
Hey Martin, I sold the pike. Although it was a good boat I just couldn't find a place for it in my fleet.
@@cbrunner420 thanks Cole! Alright, I understand. I use it mostly on an whitewater Parc to work on proper technique and learn river play. I love it for its slalomy feel and nimbleness. And it gives instant feedback. For rivers and when I need more confidence I use more often the Ninja from Zet.
what no tomahawks?
sick edit dude! looks like a sweet short creek!
What is the weight limit on this?
Brilliant love the music and the paddling is insane
looks like fun, had to watch it muted though.. why did you have to ruin it with that jungle mumbo jumbo bull crap that you think is music? It's garbage bro... garbage..
Love the hippo diluting his shit at the end. And I LOVED THE MUSIC.
Looks like a Great vacation and ride! Yeah- today I'm still stuck here in US and as I'm now old- its sea kayaking for me up a local suburban river WOW ha,ha- stay Safe!
Hahaha that was too clean
Cool video but would love to hear the water instead of music.
(Le sigh) and here I am stuck on the couch this year with a torn ACL/MCL/PCL and torn meniscus.
Snowboarding looks so fun, but so dangerous, but I kinda wanna do
Fucking life goals to hit those rapids one day but then there's the croc/gator problem
I wouldn't let the Crocs hold you back from going. All the Crocs in-between the rapids are relatively small and are not a threat.
you should have splated one of those elephants 😂
Epic. Is that an 8.5?
Yes! A perfect Zam boat
shoulda brought a pike
Just found an immaculate LUV ❤️! Only issue I'm having is one of the backing plate for the seat is gone. Any leads on acquiring one? This boat needs to be back on the water, basically a brand new 20yr old score!
Yes contact Landis Arnold on Facebook he has spare prijon parts
Looks like an epic green wave boat
Correct that the sport outfitting does not have the pillars or track. Pre 2018 the track was not glued down. Track and pillars adds ~5-6lbs. Personally I paddle the sport setup as the weight, in my experience, has not affected the durability, for others it might. (have about 200 days on one with Sport outfitting). Wish you were around when I imported, I'd have been sending you boats to test and review :) Tail taps not a problem, but hip checking rocks with the big sidewall hurts, to the extent I don't like the boat in Cali low volume, but we have a lot more side to side current than Colorado, which tends to push downstream. The Curve Creek is slow in the flatwater but surprisingly fast with any kind of gradient. The seat needs to be back for that loose feel. Tracks like it's on a rail if forward. It's right there with the OG Nomad one of the most stable boats ever made. It's shocking how different the 3.0 paddles, much more sporty in the 3.0 but it gets overwhelmed in class V.
This was the boat I learned to paddle on. Only realized how unforgiving the boat was when I started paddling other kayaks. Hardest boat to roll that I have paddled and super tippy with the 90 degree sidewalls. Surfs like a dream though! Still take it out from time to time for some fun.
Ever seen the Prijon F262?
Love it that’s actually a better comparison then the super nova because the size is fairly close and it was awesome paddling with you and doing some walkthroughs while out that way!
where you get your Prijons from?
Back in the day (2004?) l wanted one of these sooo bad but it just wasn't easily available in the USA then. I went with a Wavesport Big Easy instead and never looked backed...of course the 'Big Easy' didn't front surf great but it ran the river very good
Most Soul kayaks, all Riot kayaks, and all Savage kayaks had the cockpit sitting below the deck level. It's an idea that's only about 30 years old ;-)
Can you get a really tall paddler in there? It looks pretty big. Boats I like are the super ego, s8 235, session+, prankster
Yeah I'd say if you could fit into a session plus you could fit in this boat. At 6 ft. Size 10 ft. I had plenty of room. I'd say the max is probably 6, 4 or 5 and nothing bigger than a size 12 foof
@@cbrunner420 6'4" here, superego is about the limit for me, I'd def be up for giving the luv a go at some point, love recycling some old plastic ♻️
@@philipmcdonald5629 I'm 6'4" size 12 ft, fit comfortably in my Luv in very low profile neoprene booties. Shoes are a no-go at that height. All seat positions except extreme forward are doable for me.
I just bought a Prijon Delirium for hella cheap; 100 bux, curious what it’s going to be like. Hoping to run some larger water with it. My last boat was a Rockstar, sadly it was stolen off my 3rd floor porch, it was lots of fun but strictly a play boat, hoping for something that will allow me to do bigger water. Been paddling since 1980’s but this is my first time paddling since 2013. Curious what your opinion is if this boat and if you have any suggestions on where I can get a spray skirt, paddle jacket and PFD for cheap. I’m really on a budget list my left leg in an accident and haven’t worked in some time due. Can you recommend any swap meets coming up in the Denver’ish area. Cheers.
Great review! I own a medium rewind and love it but thinking about trying out the pike at some point. I'm 200lbs. Do you know anyone at the top of the weight range that's used one of these?
Nice. Is the Machine just a Delirious for fat people?
Yeah kind of but still not much bigger. It's actually for sale if you're interested you could sit in it. Still very easy to get up on the ends
@@cbrunner420 I saw that. I almost bought that Delerious from you a few months back, regret not doing so.
@@UrsaMusic this would still be a good option! I also have a foreplay and a dagger ID 6.9 for sale too. ⚔️
@@cbrunner420 want it but don't need it. I'm doing vanlife and skiing towards Jackson, Utah, Tahoe, then paddling PNW and Idaho on my way back here. If my van carried more than 3 boats I'd do it but if I got it now I wouldn't see it again until June. This is a dope channel homie, keep it up!
@@UrsaMusic nice I'm trying to paddle pnw in May maybe we can link up
Great videos man Ever paddle a prijon pegaso ? Can't find out much about them anywhere. Was thinking of buying one but there no info
What would you say is the ideal paddler height/weight for the delirious and the machine?
So when it comes to delirious I would say 6 foot max but more importantly foot size. I don't think you could fit much larger than a size 11 or 12 comfortably into a delirious. I also wouldn't recommend anybody over 200 lb in the delirious. As far as the machine goes there's definitely more room in the bow for your feet but still not a lot of room everywhere else. I'd probably say 61 or 62 for the machine and under 210 with less than a size 11 foot. As for the ideal paddler size I feel like I'm perfect for the delirious at 160 lb size 10 ft. I also feel right at home in the machine maybe paddler weight ideally would be around 180 but not much taller than 6 ft.
Would have you any idea what caulk to use to reseal a foam bulkhead for a prijon? I hear that not much sticks to prijon plastic.
No I don't have any recommendations I'd recommend roughing up the application area for better adhesion but I've never wanted to glue a bulkhead in yet. Maybe a product called G-Flex it's supposed to be epoxy for plastic and metal and all sorts of things but I don't think it would last
The Prijon Cocaine is another current creecker design. Was able to paddle it at Prijon Sports Center in Slovenia. For me a little too much volume but had very much fun riding it on Soça river.
Who is importing Prijon these days?
I'm not sure where Chris got this boat but I got a Prijon Pike last month from Paths Peaks and Paddles in NY. Unfortunately I believe them to be the only importers at the moment.
Darin McQuoid was doing it under the name ikayaksupply until his house burned down in the Paradise fire a couple years ago. I got my boat from him.
There's a few at Paths Peaks and Paddles. There's a Prijon Curve and Cocaine in the showroom. I have no idea why, but they ordered a Cocaine without the pro-outfitting and that's what's in the showroom(?) Not sure what they're willing to do for demos.
Thanks mate, I like very much that you review older models as well as the new pike. I own a Prijon Boxer which ended in 2000. I am curious if you‘ll discuss it too. Cheers Martin.
Hey Martin, I don't have a boxer but if you make it out to Colorado we can do an episode on it together.
@@cbrunner420 Hey Cole, I would love to call by, but I live in Europe. If I can come by, it will be without my boxer :) have a good time and enjoy your time on the river.
Does it flex without a bulkhead because I got an Eskimo Nano and it’s a bad ass boat but I can feel it cave-in every time I try to blunt it
Never felt it collapse. And I've taken in on the Snake River in WY at 13k played in sting eddies and stuffing waves
Hey, I know the water is pretty scarce out there by now, but did you get it on a good eddy line yet? I'd be interested in how stable it is once you get the stern engaged.
Na man not yet. Only had a tease before the water dropped. Seems to want to stand up just might be harder to engage because it doesn't have any scoop like the rewind.
Hi Prijon Talk, do you have an opinion on the Prijon Wizard? Looking at buying one. What model would it be most similar of with your reviews?
Hey man I sure do have a prijon wizard. I like it alot, but I also have a large quiver and use it for only certain things. It's a great river running kayak, not very playful and not a lot of length. The shortness of the boat makes it maneuverable but also kills it's speed. It's very fast on a wave with ample volume and rocker in the bow. Now the hatch is a little annoying, I actually upgraded mine to the newer style hatch that Prijon makes at $140 and made it really dry. The original hatch leaked and would fill up the neoprene pouch with water. It's definitely unlike any boat on my channel and I don't have a review coming up for it, but those are my main takeaways.
It is a good boat to get you're just getting into the sport but just beware that it lacks some features of modern boats. Make sure to adjust the seat and forward bulkhead and thigh hooks to get the best fit.
@@cbrunner420 This is great stuff! Appreciate the color/insight!
Glad to see some more Prijon stoke in the US. Had a Pure XL forever added a Curve Creek a couple years ago and some old school models (Delirious, Fly, Athlete, Luv). Would love to get into a Pike and a Cocaine.
Thanks CB. I'd love to get a cocaine to review. Seems too similar to a 9r2 (an old ex boat of mine) so not to interested in purchasing one, but I'd love to review it
How comfortable is the outfitting? Does it compare to the dagger outfitting?
I would say compared to the dagger outfitting it lacks the crotch adjustment of course but it does have a generous bump in between the legs. I like the bow pillar in the dagger boats more but I like the thigh hooks in this Prijon more. I prefer the dagger seat but prefer the prion hip pads. I'd say they are very comparable and if that's what it comes down to I wouldn't say either way one outfitting is superior. I feel like you buy this Prijon because of what it's made of, not because of the outfiting or hull design. But with that being said I also think this outfitting is 10 times better than Pyranha and liquid logic
@@cbrunner420 sounds great, thanks! Really hoping to get my hands on one
I cracked the very tip of the stern on my Fly last year after many years of abuse. Those HTPE sticks and a glue gun made the repair really easy. Really solid weld, though not nearly as bad as the crack here. Of course, I did buy a backup Fly just in case.
Nice thanks for sharing your experience! The ability to run the HTPE through the glue gun really allows for a better bond opposed to just sticking some cold plastic on there.
