I met Pedro at a hospital in Los Angeles. My son had a heart defect and at the age of seven he had a surgery and his life was a 50-50 chance. A friend of ours wrote a letter to the Dodgers and asked for a ball to be signed...maybe it would give my son the extra strength to pull through. I received a call from the head of PR for the Dodgers asking if it would be okay for a couple of guys to come see him after the surgery. Pedro and Ron Roenicke came to the hospital to help give my son the strength to live. My son is now 35 years old. Pedro...you had a great career and we followed every pitch that you made. That's nice but what you did for Jeff makes you a hero.
Wow! What a story and thank God your son is still around! Pedro is a class act for sure, always spent extra time with the fans when he was with the Mets

As a Yankee fan we owned him in the playoffs , he was still nasty and hated seeing him on the mound. He’s an amazing pitcher and very grateful person found great respect for him after listening to his interview with Mike Francesca. He cleared up so many things I didn’t like bout him.

Martinez was the best pitcher I have ever seen in person. Yes, his fastball was electric and reached 100 a few times, while also moving off to the side. But it was his changeup that was absolutely disgusting to hitters and almost unhittable after his fastball. Just watch that changeup. No one in the game today has anything close to it.
If Pedro pitched in today's MLB, he wouldn't be in the hall, pitching in the steroid era impressed the voters. Today hitting is terrible
