GETTING OLDER KEEPING ACTIVE
Великобритания
Добавлен 24 июл 2015
For people of all ages who want to keep active as they get older. Videos will include cycling.
Will also include videos on activities like learning to play guitar.
At the moment most of the videos, are me singing and playing accoustic guitar - mainly covers, but also, some of my own original songs.
Also, travelling in my van and cycling in various locations.
As we get older, we must KEEP GOING.

You never show the MIRIDER, but a Brompton was invented in the seventies and not at all intended for Electric Assist. So of course any Set will be an add-on. A Brompton is intended for easy transport as folded and only if necessary, for actual riding, as the small wheels make it a horrible, hard rolling bike! I know as an owner of a now weighing much less and much modified "Superlight" from 2019😁(9 kilo)! A little like "the wheel" it was fine at first try, and can't be made much better if looking different (Near all other are half-hearted tries to make a Copy, and only fold to a much more filling, Half Bike, except those which are direct Copies, now the Patent has run out). I have owned an assisted Makita Folder, but it was absurdly more heavy and only folded half, with its two battery Pack, for a short distance use. My Brompton I may put in the back of my car for driving to Service and also during Vacations, if needing a bike during those. Finn. Denmark
@finncarlbomholtsrensen1188 Hi Hi Finn, The Mirider is shown on many of my videos on my channel. Thanks for your comment's. All the best from Scotland and me Tony.
@@keep-going I have found pictures of the MIRIDER, and it looks smart, but still only fold to a ½ bike, so it isn't an actual competitor to a Brompton. Like the American, former Army type Bike: Montague, which is an Mtb with "normal size" wheels, which also folds ½! I'm sure if needing a bike for their purposes, both are fine in their way, but if needing the Fold, none is better than the Brompton compromize between portability and riding a bike. Finn
@@keep-going Okay, I'm sorry but I haven't noticed those. And before Covid19 I looked at several types assisted folding bikes for an Import from China, and then got my Makita from a Sale here in Denmark. Using two Tool Batteries its efficient riding distance was limited, though I could have brought several batteries in a bag, of course? But riding from my own power feels better and more assuring, at least. Finn

What a superb video the best yet very atmosphere you can feel the history watching this video also seeing the iona cross that alexander ritchie got his inspiration from in making his fantastic silver keep up the good work as everyone can see your video just keep getting better and better
@davidsutherland3689 Thanks for that, David, most appreciated.
Rebadged onebot? 499 dollars in the states.

What's an mrider?
I'm glad that you're enjoying your MiRider. I looked at buying one, well two actually mainly because my wife struggles to walk any distance because of knee issues. In the end I opted for the Brompton electric. The main reason was down the the fold which means that I can get 2 Bromptons in the car plus luggage for uk touring. I couldn't do this with two MiRiders plus luggage. As with most things in life there are trade offs and compatibility was the most important factor for us. I used to put our traditional bikes on roof mounted carriers but I'm getting too old for that and bikes are heavy. Enloy your MiRider and happy cycling.
@allanb2906 Thanks for that, Allan. There is nothing wrong with the Brompton electric. I just didn't like the bag on the front and the cost factor also. Hope you have fun and my happy years on them.
May I ask what car you drive please?myself and girlfriend are thinking about getting a mirider each and have the same thinking as yourself about taking them away on holiday,we have a Volkswagen t roc,we are hoping it will be big enough for 2 miriders, hopefully we’re heading to Wigan next week to hopefully try them out
@blaagoku l have a Honda Jazz. It's great as it has what they call magic seats. I can put the mirider in the back seat well, without unfolding.
@@keep-going thanks mate
There’s no right or wrong with these things, and if you enjoy the Mirider more, job’s a good ‘un. There’s no denying that Brompton’s rate of evolution is somewhat glacial but I can understand why they wouldn’t want to mess with the current folding system to accommodate a battery anywhere other than the front carrier block. I love my Bromptons (I have two!) but may sell both of them to perhaps go for their Titanium model, which is absurdly priced of course.
@deldewar5893 you won't notice the difference with the titanium when pedalling. Perhaps trade the two for an electric Brompton. Another suggestion - Lower the gearing on your current Brompton, and you be amazed at the difference. A 42 tooth ring is very cheap to buy.
I have much modified my 2019 SuperlightM6LXBrompton, with mudguards, as a "Rainy Dane", to now below 9 kilo and very close to the weight of a T-line, also with added mudguards of course! Most loose parts are now titanium and carbon, even the "Heavy Metal" clamps on my mudguards, with titanium stays, and my front axle! And no problems from the starnge holes by the hinges! Finn. Denmark
I am glad that you are happy with your choice. Good you could fix the charging port yourself. I still enjoy my Brompton. I can ride with or without the battery. Good luck.
@TR4zest you are welcome, thank you.
Thanks Charm for hosting. We had a v lovely time.xx

That's great you did a good fix
@davidsutherland3689 Thanks, David.
Nice video Tony the traffic was busy
❤
Nice video again Tony, the new camera looks and performs great.
I've had a lot of cameras over the years, but this one is by far the best. I would recommend it to anyone, John.
salut- you did cool . farewell. ✨
@@eprohoda thankyou.

Well done. :)
Hope it works but I would charge it up away from the house, just in case …….
@maureenarnold-hc4sg should be ok as there is no power coming from these wires. The power goes in from the charger only. But you are right, Maureen safety first. I've now sent for the correct adapter, they are a £1 each and will just attatch the wires when it arrives. Mirider should supply these instead of forcing a new battery on us.
Hello Tony, you certainly dodged a bullet there. Well done, glad it worked out for you.
@johnarmstrong626 think lve found the right size charger port, so lve sent off for it £3 for 5 of them. Then l will just solder the negative and positive wires to it, and that should be that. Mirider should be selling these things instead of forcing a new battery on us.
Not sure if has a fuse or not. Check with mirider support. Is it still in guarantee? Don't tell that you dropped your keys... Try taking a voltage reading off the battery terminals. One with the charger plugged in and one without the charger. Chances are that the reading with the charger will be higher (fully charged 42 volts). A possible reason for the green light. My battery reading was 42 volts on charge, (it displayed a green light), and 12 volts or something with no charger. Sorry, but a had to buy a new one. Although I believe they can be repaired I found the prices quoted are not far off the cost of a new one.
I think l can repair it. Ebay sells charging ports. So l just have to take it apart and fit a new one. It's a bit awkward to do, but l will buy one and have a go. Only a fiver, so worth trying. I will do a video on this when l get the part.
I’m sorry to say you may have to get a new battery. I wanted to buy a Mi Rider but a Mi Rider Facebook Owners group showed so many owners having battery, and other issues, I didn’t buy one.
Good u hv been researching. :)
lm wishing l hadn't bought one now. I thought l had blown a fuse in the battery, so l opened it up and guess what. There is no fuse. I think that's illegal. It's basically a junk battery that costs £300 to replace. Most reputable e bike batteries all have fuses in them and are easy to replace, but all you can do with the Mirider is buy a new battery. It's outrageous. Did you manage to buy a good bike in the end, Maureen?
@@keep-going Yes - I bought a 3 speed internal hub Batribike Dart 3 E. I couldn’t afford a Brompton but it goes on the Bus, Trains and the back of my Hyundai i10. 500 miles in 4 months and no issues. Interest free from Allen’s E-bikes in Leighton Buzzard. Came by Courier, fully assembled and I have never had any range anxiety. 30 plus miles with 50% left. I do pedal a bit though !
@maureenarnold-hc4sg Yes, l think you made a good choice there. Mirider is great when it's going, but it's very unreliable. I would never buy one again.
I'm an old punk rocker so I could give an s-mark what people think. I love my Brompton. I'm miffed that the bike has become a hipster trinket ..

u don't like driving n sleeping in small places, so why do u want a camper van? 😂 we hv 2 look beyond wants n checks our capabilities. :)
Perhaps seek a compromise and rent one for a few weeks to see what it’s really like. Also los of CV advice on Cameron Neish’s channel
Looking for ideas for my Ford Tourneo. Thanks!
You can do something like l did or look at Man on the Outside channel. But as it has a low roof height, it is limited as to what you can do. You could also do a full conversion to open the roof up. There is a garage in Newcastle that does this to Ford Tourneo.
Another great interesting video keep up the good work
Thanks, David. I'm trying my best.
Tony, a great and informative video of the history of the area . As history buffs my wife and I appreciate all your hard work in producing this content. Hopefully we may be able to get back to Scotland in the near future to see for ourselves. Thanks. By the way as Brompton owner’s we were wondering if you think the MiRIDER Is a better bike overall.
Thanks for that, John. I had my Brompton for 12 years, but it was time for a change. Mirider is better because you can go on most types of trails and can put chunky tyres on it. Everything is integrated, with the battery in the main tube. It's also not a bad fold, and if you have a Honda Jazz, like me, you can put it in the back seating area without folding. I would say go for one if you fancy a change. Overall, l think it's better.
Great video Tony, bought back memories of our visit and our ride on the wheel.
I'm finding at £17.50 to go on a bit much. Especially if you have family with you. But it's unique and a once in a life time thing.
John, l deleted the "Witches of Boness" video by misstake and l think you commented . I've re uploaded it, can you comment again so l can reply. Thanks Tony.
Another great video nice viewing
Thanks David
Hi Tony, another great video. We are wanting to see the Kelpies ourselves soon. We went on the Falkirk Wheel a few years ago and it was great. Have you done the wheel yet? It would make a great video.
I think l did John in one video, but it was ages ago. I will be going there in a week or so. Hopefully, it's a good day, and l can do a new video there. Hope you get to the Kelpies soon, John and thanks for always supporting my channel.
A grand wee video, I really enjoyed it. A simple walk can be such a tonic, especially with a good friend. ATB Big Dave Scotland.
Thanks Dave.
All d best, judith Neil. ❤
Happy Birthday ate Judith ❤️❤️❤️

Food looking hella great

Very nice
Nice beautiful location here
Thanks, Natty.
😊
Did you sort out the niggles with your MiRider? The noisy motor and the front lamp to name but two ?
No, Maureen, it's still on hold. It's still running reasonably well, though. It's a shame it came out the factory like that. Their quality control is poor from my point of view.
Thanks for that, I'll start carrying an adjustable wrench from now on.
Lovely video. :)
looks amazing Tony. Happy Birthday for the other day. I liked the drone footage.
It's well worth a visit, Raymond.
Good 2 remember d beautiful Abbey.

Another great video
Thanks David.
Amazing place, must visit.
Yes, it's good to go there, John . Also, Culross is a very historic village, you will love it. Phone ahead for the Abbey, as its seldom open apart from a Sunday service.
