You should be more gently with the dog

As a Maine Coon owner here’s my advice for anyone who’s watching for what it’s worth: Brush the cat gently and SLOWLY so it feels like stroking and they actually enjoy it; if they hiss or meow it means it’s painful and you’re pulling at the fur; I use scissors to gently cut out the matt ensuring my fingers are between their skin and the fur I’m cutting so as to avoid cutting them; if they get really distressed STOP and go back to grooming another day, preferably when the cat is sleepy and relaxed; the environment needs to be calm and quiet too or else the cat will become immediately stressed and will hate being groomed the next time. Cats should not be groomed in the same manner as dogs 😊

I’m sorry to say this but, you are not supposed to shave Airedales. Their double coat should be hand stripped to maintain its color and weatherproof texture. Did the owner request the beard and stash being removed? It’s a breed characteristic. The black and tan coat has faded due to the wrong grooming 😢 which is a shame but since this is you first Airedale, not down to you. The poor attention to the facial grooming was though. You had the book and pictures right there.

If you preshave with a #4, you can bathe, dry, and finish with a #3. Hair doesn’t usually cut as short before the bath, I found that finishing in one blade length longer, saved on time and kept the hair longer.

My god you would think some company would take the vibration hence the buzzing noise out of the clippers, it would take some good engineering but it could be done they would sell a shit load of clippers

way you was Scruffing it was making it so the poor cat couldn't breathe she was stressing it out showing the belly which is super vulnerable place you shouldn't have shaved it out with the owner said no you should have done what the owner said and they were not matted they were felting which you could have very carefully combed out I know because I have worked with a groomer and I do know how to groom a cat but I am allergic and you are such a pore excuse for a groomer should not be allowed near cats

When people are to lazy to groom their pet. Dont get me wrong if an elderly person gets such a high maintenance pet they should reconsider giving it away... Sound aweful. Yes. But think about the animals feeling.
