Awesome Box set!!! Never had the Minor Threat ones. Had original copies of the others. As GREAT as those bands were, the best band in dc at that time was Black Market Baby! The singles and Senseless Offerings lp are Top notch, Yo.
@@stevenmccarthy534 it really is a fantastic box set and it’s great to listen to these in their intended format. So cool! Man, I haven’t even thought about the name Black Market Baby in years!!!!
@TheLongGoneLoserRockShow BMB are one of My favorites, For sure!!! As always, great show Damo!! Have a great day!!
@ thanks heaps for watching. So much more still to come. Rock on! 🤘🏻
I have seen The Saints a few times. the first time was the original lineup, fantastic although very very loud. Next was Chris's solo effort he was nursing a bottle of Jack Daniels, which did not end well. Then again at a private party. It was a really great performance.
@@billy4147 I would loved to have seen the original line up… what a powerhouse that must have been. So good!!!! You’re very lucky.
I used to have the two Minor Threat 7"s and the a Teen Idles 7" and I sold them for $50 like 25 years ago. I thought, "No one is ever going to pay more than $50 for a 7"!" I was wrong. My wife still bullies me for not drinking. 🤣
@@6AM_YT $50 should be the most they sell for. It’s a record, not the cure to cancer.

@@TERRYHROVAT love The Sunnyboys… great power pop. And all the off shoot bands too were top stuff!
cheers !!!
That "Japanese Power Pop" one is from famed comedian/director Beat Takeshi!
@@used-bmw-money2966 awesome! Thanks for the intel. I love learning about this stuff.
All those beautiful 45s! I would love to go record shopping with Carole. Over here most people don't bother with 45s for some reason..fools that they are.
@@TERRYHROVAT I’m a sucker for 45s. Still my favourite medium. I should do a video of random pulls from the To Be Listened To box which has hundreds of 7”ers in there waiting to be heard. That could make for a fun video. I should do it on a live stream or something
Carole knows her stuff!
@@TERRYHROVAT she definitely does! We hope to do a part 2 when I go back again next year.
Loved that third one. Can you reply with the name of Carole's favorite?
@@DamionPhoto1 Yuki Okazaki “do you remember me” - such a great tune! Loved it so much. Nice 80s dream pop sounding.
Holy moly...Aldious on VINYL! Awesome scores!
@@WanderingSoulsWebzine I am pretty stoked on those Aldious records. I never see anything like that here in AUS. Plenty of Japanese bands still to come on this channel so stay tuned. Rock!
Chika!
I was about ten feet to the right of where you were. It was a great show!
Cool video, thanks for putting it here.
@@r1learner178 you’re most welcome. There’s another video too which I posted a few days before this one. 🤘🏻
You got me drooling over those cds! If you ever come across any Scandal disks on the Kitty label grab them. They were only sold at Tower records in Japan and now they go for 2 to 3 hundred dollars each!
@@TERRYHROVAT it’s so strange to even think of a CD selling for those kinds of prices. That’s absolute madness! I don’t have any of those early singles though. But I’ve also never seen them available either.
What a fantastic scores and so cheap. Awesome!
@@WanderingSoulsWebzine hell yeah! You just gotta dig through thousands of CDs. Takes a while but the gems are there tucked away. I must say that going out in the middle of nowhere was a good idea. Sticking to the big cities for shopping for anything is expensive for the most part but going out to a place like Fujisawa, I found incredible bargains so cheap. It was well worth it.
I am taking notes on the bands you got there As for Cyntia, they are great and in 3 days, they are doing a show with Aldious and Re:NO and Aruto are in the lineup for the concert It is so great that so many artists add extra stuff to their cds like a dvd. It would cost me less to fly to Japan from the East coast of Canada and grab all those and fly back right after than buying them online.
@@repobob I’d love to see that show. A guy I know from Melbs is going over for it. He’s already there now watching Band-Maid and all the other legendary bands there. It’s a huge rabbit hole to go down but I’m stoked for it. It never ends and I’m happy ‘bout that :)
@@TheLongGoneLoserRockShow If I say I am not jealous, I would be lying LOL 1 of my most prized possession was a gift I got this year, an unopened version of Defended Desire cd by Aldious with a signed card on top of the case. I am afraid that when I visit Japan and start to buy cds, I might grab 2 of each cause I like to have some still new. I am doing that with all my Lovebites, Aldious and Scandal cds atm
@ with CDs I have no real reason to own 2 copies, personally. I’d rather use the money to buy more albums that I don’t already have. The more music the better. And one copy is enough on CD. You can’t actually wear a CD out, unlike my records where I’ll buy multiples if I find them cheap cos they are always repeated listens.
Love The Saints always been one of my favourite 'punk' bands. The Story of Love has to be one of the most melodic songs ever. I managed to pick up I'm Stranded on the Power Exchange label which I believe is an Aussie Label, quite a rarity in The UK
@@TheFairway8 nice!!! That’s a great find!!!
Heard about Bridear to late to get to the shows but got to Hanabie and they are so amazing. I have been saying that Sony need to do a rerelease of the first 2 albums (I was lucky enough to grab a copy of the second album but really want a copy of Cherry Blossoms). I also dream of a Japanese festival in Australia one day not just rock and metal either maybe tie in with some Anime convention or something.
@@danrob31 yeah they need to do reissues cos the band should get the money, not the flippers on eBay and Discogs.
@@danrob31 a festival would be incredible. So many good bands and performances and everything. Tying it in with an anime convention would be a pretty darn good idea!!!
No mate. Ed and the band were great. Mark Arm maybe not the best choose. Kim Salmon would have done a good job!
1. Love the "Shout It Out Loud" single! (duh) 2. Had no idea Cronos had a solo album! What's the point? I can't imagine it's any different than a Venom album. 3. Dallas bought 20+ CDs on his recent trip there. All, or mostly Japanese bands.
@@danbowskimexico Cronos’ solo album isn’t really anything like Venom, to a degree. Have a listen and you’ll see what I mean once the singing starts. Musically it has Calm Before The Storm all over it and even has James Clare and Mike Hickey on guitar, but the vocals will throw you. It’s Cronos but not as you and I know his voice. I’m keen to know what Japanese bands Dallas bought.
vocals sound terrible, glad I didn't shell out for this.
I saw Aldious in the thumbnail and watched 16m15s and will have to rewatch to write down some names that I don't know so that I look them up
@@repobob hahahaha nice! There’s so much good stuff there. It was a blast! Wait til you see the CD haul video. That’s only Japanese bands. Get a pen and paper ready for that.
Good post, mate. Here is my review of their debut from my article The Top 15 Punk Albums published on Analog Planet: (I’m) Stranded: The Saints. Released February 27, 1977. The Saints first appeared in Brisbane, Australia in 1973. The four members were high school buddies living under a heavily conservative state government. There is a post on RUclips with only fair sound of them playing a gig in 1974 in punk style. (The similarities between The Saints and Ramones are striking. Both were serving up punk in 1974 and both recorded three great albums in a row with their original line-ups before personnel changes.) After being rejected by every label in Australia they released "I'm Stranded" bw "No Time" on their own Fatal label in September 1976, the remarkable single actually reaching #96 on the Aussie charts. It was re-pressed on British labels and got rave reviews. Sounds magazine called it "Single of this and every week." Jon Savage wrote about the 45 "...the toughest, most brutal noise yet. The Saints' "(I'm) Stranded" sounded as though it had been recorded in a wind tunnel, with the singer and the rhythm section hanging as gusts of guitar noise rushed past them." For a very short time they were the darlings of the fledgling punk world and with the wind at their back they recorded their classic debut album, (I'm) Stranded, in just two days in Australia. Ten marvelous songs filled with surging waves of buzz-saw guitar and superb musicianship, "('m) Stranded" is a classic of the genre. What a racket they served up, much of the lyrics indecipherable under the noise. Singer Chris Bailey barks out songs filled with alienation. bitterness and resentment as in the title song. "Like a snake calling on the phone/I've got no time to be alone/There is someone coming at me all the time/Babe I think I'll lose my mind/'Cause I'm stranded on my own/Stranded far from home/I'm riding on a midnight train/And everybody looks just the same/A subway light it's dirty reflection/I'm lost I don't have a direction/Chorus/ Look at me looking at you/There ain't a thing that I can do/You are lost, your mind is a whirl/Baby such a stupid girl/Chorus/ Livin' in a world insane/They cut out some heart and some brain/'Been filling it up with dirt/Do you know how much it hurts?/Chorus". There's not a dud on the album. Plenty of fast punk as well as ballads like "Messin' With The Kid" and mid-tempo songs like "Story Of Love" are all beautifully rendered. Ed Kuepper, guitar, Kym Bradshaw, bass and Ivor Hay, drums, are one blitzing force. The Saints second album, Eternally Yours, adds horns on some songs and, no joke, is just as good as the debut. Their third LP, Prehistoric Sounds, finds them leaving punk for a more bluesy, jazzy sound, but believe me it is terrific too. None of these albums were big commercial successes; the lads did not fit in with the punk image. The snobby British press did not like their long hair, Bailey's sloppy appearance (he sometimes smoked a cigarette on stage) and the fact they did cover songs didn’t help. But Nick Cave has said, "They were kind of god-like to me and my colleagues. They were just always so much better than everybody else. It was extraordinary to go and see a band that was so anarchic and violent." And Sir Bob Geldof has stated " Rock music in the 70's was altered by three bands: Sex Pistols, The Ramones and The Saints."
I’ll definitely check this place out during my next trip!
@@Bloodrunsreddownthenile I hope you find something you’re after. Just remember that not much is in English so use a translation app if you can’t read Japanese. :)
@@TheLongGoneLoserRockShow I can read Japanese, so I’m all good :) I’ve been to Japan many times :)
@ you’re doing better than me then. I’ve been to Japan like 12 times and can’t read a word of it 😂 such a hard language to learn
@ 🤣 definitely worth it!
I LOVE the diskunion punk store! I always get stuff I’m after when I’m over there!
@@Bloodrunsreddownthenile yeah it’s awesome but it’s getting more expensive these days :(
it definitely does…. I’ve seen it continue to go up and up in prices every trip I do over there…. I mainly wait to do all my record buying over there. I hardly buy anything here in Melbourne
@ oh yeah, record prices here are stupid. Just stupid. Even used prices are getting so ridiculous now. I walk into a store and they have Discogs up on their computer and I’m like “right, fine.” And tend to leave cos if that’s what they’re using to price their records, then it’s gonna be a waste of time flicking through. I am stoked that some stores around Japan just want to offload stock to make room for more. This is the issue with so many stores… if your records are overpriced, they’re just gonna sit on the shelves instead of walking out the door and that’s such a weird business model. I thought the idea of business is to keep the money coming in regularly than have used records just fill the bins cos no one can afford the high prices. But then again, what would I know?
@@TheLongGoneLoserRockShowtotally agree! It a shop uses discord for their pricing… then I’m out!
I know what you mean about Japanese vinyl. I have all of Scandal's releases on cd but I wanted to get some on vinyl. I found one of the albums and they wanted $274.00 for it!
@@TERRYHROVAT EXACTLY!!! And that’s just ridiculous! If people are willing to spend $274 on a record, they don’t deserve to own it 😂
🎉the great band there is still is
menuda mierda.
Best gig! I was at the front but on the right side 😊
The three minutes and thity-five seconds that changed Australian rock history for ever. What a kickass version by a kickass lineup. You rock Damo for documenting this.
@@davidrathbone4029 Thanks for watching. I had to document it because I believe documentation of moments such as these are a necessity. Not everything needs to be documented but this show surely needed it. These songs are so timeless that this many years on they resonate with so many the world over.
Orrite! Great recording man, thanks heaps for posting this for us stupid suckers who weren't there for some reason. I swear I saw Mick Harvey almost smile towards the end!. Nothing against Mark Arm's great performance, but in this song especially, I can't help hearing Bailey's croon in my mind, and thinking of two local singers who could have captured that better -- either Dave Graney, or Henry Wagons (who were both probably there in the audience!),
@@davidrathbone4029 Thanks for watching. To be honest, I get the feeling that Ed and Co weren’t looking for someone to replace Bailey but instead just wanting a vocalist they all liked doing what they do with songs that Ed wrote. That’s how it seems to me cos let’s face it, Mark was never gonna fill Chris’ shoes and he’s not the kind of guy who would think like that. He’s just a massive fan of the band and it must have been a thrill for him to sing songs that he’s loved forever with musicians he admires. The show was awesome and I’m glad I went. I think Mark did a great job with the songs and was quite respectful about it.

Was there.Great show.Mark Arm looked a little intimidated by Ed Kuepper I thought 😅.My recollection is that gig at The Corner was advertised as showcasing the material from the period after the first 3 albums but it was very much in the fine print.I didn't go for that reason.
@@thestevec I don’t remember anything about fine print of that Corner show… I just remember it being so slow and lacked any energy whatsoever. I dunno what was going on. It was just a really off night. I remember when they did Know Your Product, they invited Spencer up on stage with them but they started the song before he even got on stage so he walks on 30 seconds into the song and was having trouble sorting the guitar out, etc. it was just a very off night for everyone involved. Was a real shame.
Got the same impression at the Castlemaine gig last week.

For me Bridear's 1st and latest album is their best imo. I'm seeing Bridear next year in a very small venue here in England I can't wait. I'm doing the meet and greet too, better brush up on the old Japanese. Was the Hanabie meet and greet before or after the show and if it was before how did you protect the poster?
@@colonelbasic9736 it was before the show and I took a poster tube with me to protect the poster. Other people put theirs in the cloak room. Bridear didn’t do a meet and greet from what I could tell. But the show was a Dream Evil show, not a Bridear show so maybe that’s why. I reached out to the promoters to interview them while they were here but sadly that fell on deaf ears and I got no response to that. Oh well. I did try. Have fun at the show, I am sure it’s gonna be great!!!
