Maybe, by 3023, Capetonians will have learned something about pronunciation. Wonderful what they do to Tikoloshe, Llandudno, Brackenfell and, of course, Thibault. Anglophones just cannot help themselves. They won't even try, sadly.

Quite interesting that you picked those examples - Zulu, Welsh, Scottish & French - no wonder people have trouble with the correct pronunciation - it could be confusing, considering they are very different languages.

DONT BE FOOLED- I had my car carjacking and stolen there recently and was taken for a 1 hour drive around Cape Town by 3 men armed with knives- all they got was R300 . May look nice but there is organised crime in that area. What about my car you may ask, well SAPS Bellville South impound lot is refusing to release my vehicle, because they have a reputation there for stripping or selling stolen vehicles.Do not allow SAPS to take your vehicle under any circumstance. Tourisst avoid this area.

Mr Jowa Abrahams was my "sir' as we would call teachers/educators in the 70's at Athlone High Senior Secondary.(Science and PT). Mrs Cass was displaying her culinary skills way back then.. Jowa's brother Sugary also had unique culinary skills. Mr Jowa Abrahams is a senior citizen today , but back in the day he was a briiliant rugby player and member of Primrose Cricket club. . A top team in the premier league after my team Victoria Cricket Club, (SACOS teams ) 😁. (my late father in-law Ian, was honored as Life president status). Stopped here once for Coffee the locals were really unfriendly. We felt really unwelcome. We got told that we could not go into the restaurant on the beach because you had to get a meal. Instead we had to go the little place at the back. Then we were parked in and we were trying to get out and the locals just sat there like bumps on a log watching - no one offering any help. My mother had to go into the restaurant that we couldn't have coffee in to try to find who owned the car that parked us in, only then did the person come. We will never ever go back. It left such a horrible feeling with us. We could not wait to leave!

There are also said to be remains of an ancient Phoenician boat, and Phoenician artefacts, somewhere in Cape Town. And, that it's not well known, and somewhat suppressed. According to legends there were ancient Phoenicians who headed eastward, and returned from the westward direction.

    • @WhereToGOAfrica

People do say there is a possibility of that, it would be in the area of where the Cape Flats are today, as that was at one stage under water. They have found remains of wood, which could have been boats, but apparently difficult to verify, since wood ages.

There is no malaria in the Cape, but 5 million years ago, the Cape did have a subtropical climate and could well have had malaria then. The fever tree is not endemic to the Cape, but has been planted here and is used for medicinal purposes, hence we spoke about the name of the tree. But good observation 😁 and yes, we only have nice mosquitos in the Cape 😄
