Just returned from James Bay, travelled with my 22ft trailer. visited Chisasibi, Radisson, and LG-2 Robert-Bourassa power station, camped by the shores of James Bay at Aire de repos, it’s a 10km gravel road from Chisasibi, the locals frequently swing by this spot to watch the sunset . Also camped at Long Point, it’s a 45KM gravel road from LG-1. Billy Diamond highway (Formerly James Bay) is all paved but its going through major road repaving north of km 381, very bumpy section. There’s a major lithium mining development just north of 381, lots of heavy equipment and trucks in this area. There’s no cell service along this highway you will see red SOS telephone signs letting you know where to stop to make emergency calls. All the people I’ve come across are very friendly and helpful. Not much wild life, only spotted a black bear and a wolf along the side of the road. I don’t recommend driving a big class A or 5th wheel up here, the rest areas and camping spots off the highway are mostly small. Trailers under 24ft, class B and small class C RV’s are fine, look for rest areas and camping spots that has a boat ramp, they usually have a bigger lot to turn around. KM 381 is a great spot to take a break or stay over night, there’s a free parking area at the back for RV’s, free hot shower, laundry and wifi inside, there’s also a dump station and potable water tap. And lastly I don’t recommend driving at night, there’s no street lights it’s pure darkness.

I’d love to do that. I’d be a nervous wreck since I’m diabetic so if anything happened I’d be absolutely boned. That would definitely require a lot of prep to ensure as little could go wrong as possible
