Phrozen Sonic Mini: The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly 3D printer
Просмотров 12 тыс.4 года назад
The unboxing and review of the Sonic Mini plus first prints .
Is the Phrozen mini still worth buying these days?
I still use it here and there when I need something small and quick with detail made some keychains of the thing hand when Wednesday came out and they came out nice
@@zachofalltrades6116 what about printing tabletop miniatures like OnePageRules?
I know this is old, but... just wondering how long you cure each layer?
Soon as it’s dry from the uv light I put another layer on
Zach of All Trades, do you do this before curing your prints or after?
Exactly what I needed, thanks 🙏

Awesome tip! I just started resin printing and figuring out what works and doesn’t work with supports and starting over is super frustrating! This will help tons!!! 👊
i recieved a sonic mini as a present, they have changed the feet and now include a metal vat.
Great video. I am waiting for the mini 4K to start shipping. Can I ask where you got that gray work mat on the left side of your bench. Or something like it for my bench. Thx.
For any who, like me, just stumbled over this video... I got my Sonic Mini on Monday (May 18th) from Amazon and it came with the metal vat. I had also ordered a metal vat (that hasn't arrived yet) and the new build plate with the angled top (so the resin flows off rather than having to scrape it off).
Tim Berry awesome glad you were able to get the metal , vat I’m actually doing some filming using three of their resins with new metal vat, don’t have the new build plate , let me know how that turns out? Tom I’m buying a transform and plan on making a video because I’ll be upgrading it to the mono as well!
Better support settings would make the supports peel off in warm water without clippers or most post cleanup. Nice job with the cleanup of damages though.
Wes Mischke yeah I normally get great prints and agree but there is the times when you print a new model and maybe the orientation isn’t just right, or the times a part has a layer line, this technique works to save money and time.
Zach of All Trades Indeed 👍, I usually encounter this with pre-supported files.
Hey Wes, could you share with me a video talking about how to do that with supports? I'd love to learn more.
Bane Williams ruclips.net/video/KjF54SFaMAQ/видео.html
Bane Williams I’m actually going to make a video for better supports , most of my prints don’t need repair but I wanted to show how to fix it if the damage was already done or how I fix the one model that couldn’t stand with just a tad bit of resin and curing. I’ll also be making a video comparing all the resin that Phrozen makes as well.
Awesome!
Before mine arrived I asked them about the cracks in the vat I heard about. They told me the cracks come from people tightening the nuts too much. They said it's just cosmetic but if it does leak they will replace it free.
Phil Nolan I would buy the aluminum, mine wasn’t over tightening the nuts it worked fine for about 5 days then the disaster happened and I don’t think anyone wants to deal with resin curing on the screen and going everywhere . From now on I’m use only my aluminum vat. I would try and buy while there is still a discount on amazon.
Can you link the aluminum vat?

Nice review. Look forward to seeing more. How expensive is the resin?
accouti yeah more to come I’m trying to start producing a video a week is my goal, it all depends on the brand and the kind , ranging from $17-$120 a bottle of 500mg. Thanks for watching !
how does the resin harden in the shape of the intended form? its a lot different than 3D printing it appears.
Gabe Aldridge so as the resin sits in the vat , the bottom of it is a clear plastic called fep, that allows the screen underneath light up a pattern and holds for a few seconds then rises to the next level of the print it does this over and over building the intended form. That would be a great idea for another video!
Thanks for the video. I just got my Sonic Mini and am doing more research before printing. I am looking for a good guide about part orientation. My parts are mechanical parts and have a lot of flat surfaces. Can I print them directly on the build plate without a standoff? Are there rules of thumb for avoiding large cross sectional areas anywhere in the build, particularly at the start, to avoid suction/too much adhesion with the FEP?
Dennis Dohogne I wouldn’t build directly on the build plate and are you using these parts for mechanical or will cast and mold to make metal parts? Because resin is pretty brittle good for pro type but not real world applications. I would turn prints 30-45 degrees and use supports.
Check out the RUclips channel "3DPrintingPro". In his 'Playlists' section his has a 'Chitubox Tutorials' playlist. He explains how he goes about placing his supports. He does this by 'hand' not using the autosupports in Chitubox. He also explains part orientation.
Enjoyed the review :)
