We went hunting gators and almost became gator bait! Trying to get across the lake in 15-20 mph winds is DANGEROUS!! This video was taken BEFORE it got really bad. Shortly after this we took one over the nose and decided stumps or no stumps, we had to hammer down. A ride I'll never forget...

We stayed out a little too long and got hammered by a storm on the way in. Wind picked up to 20 mph about 1/2 mile from the jetties and we rode on the back of 5'-6'ers to/thru the jetties. Once we were safe I decided to stop and take this short video. We'll, we really stopped because the rain hurt... A learning experience to say the least. Keep your eyes towards the shore when you are out there...

Subsonic 308 that are 220 grains or lighter do not make any sense. You may as well just shoot a 300 Blackout . You will get the same energy. 308 would only make sense in subsonic if the bullet was somewhere between 250 grains and 300 grains. That would produce significantly more energy than a 300 blackout. Tell me if my logic is wrong???

Learn. It's also dependent on barrel length and which suppressor.
@@deebee4575 Not really. You can load them slow enough to be more quite than that. I load some for a buddy’s 300 blackout. There’s a fine line on velocity that you have to stay under. Temp affects this, as well.
@@n2trkys18i think his point is that. That specific round might be sub in a 10inch barrel or something but not a 20. I think he knows it's possible to achieve either way though.
500/600 joules for a subsonic…not ethical for killing properly animals!
This is nonsense, humans have been killing animals with sharp sticks since the beginning of time. The only people who believe this are those who have magnum products to sell or take shots that are too far away for proper shot placement. A 45 Colt is traditionally 255gr of lead below the speed of sound, and one of the procurement requirements for the military was that it literally had to be able to shoot THROUGH A HORSE.
Wow, just noticed all the comments - I dont check my videos often 😮 I will say that I don't hunt deer with subs as a standard but felt 100% confident with the accuracy of the SubX round in my gun. I did take one deer with a double lung shot intentionally to see the performance of the SubX and while she only ran 40 yards, there was no blood. I dont take or recommend body shots with subs but they are absolutely 100% deadly for neck shots on deer or hogs.

Shot placement is king. Doesnt matter how fast you are, if you dont hit your mark.

I have been hunting for 60 years, I just don't think sub Sonic is ethical. They just don't have the juice for a quick, clean ethical kill. I was taught that a true hunter always took only ethical shots. It's just my opinion that sub sonic just doesn't have the energy. I guess inside 50-75 yards may be okay but I respect the game too much to risk a wounded animal. They deserve better. I am ok using subsonic for self defense but that's it.
Properly designed .300 blackout subsonics are designed for ethical expansion. Plenty of ethical subsonic loads are out there

I hunt with a .308 Mossberg patriot night train fluted 22 inch barrel with a fluted bolt bolt rifle subsonic Beck 180 grain REX round with a SilencerCo Harvester EVO can Sub MOA from 105 yards using my Sightmark day/ngt scope 4x32x50 round expands like my crossbow bolt broad heads Outstanding expansion and penetration through ballistic gel block with plenty of weight behind it for East Tx deer and hogs It’s silent and deadly and sounds like a .22 cal rifle Target impact is louder than the bolt rifle. I also have a AR 300bo I shoot subsonic with Beck subsonic ammo same result and it cycles the ammo. That’s my hog rifle at ngt because I can shoot multiple hogs and it’s silent, concealed muzzle flash, and quiet. Hogs do not run off bc they do not know where the shot came from. Happy hunting! Thanks for that info! I will definitely take a look at that ammo. My handloads are soft points so expansion is minimal. Would be great to have a round to do damage for a ribcage shot. Thanks again!

Since it doesn't matter whether you shoot subsonic or supersonic, all the other animals always run off why would you hunt subsonic? Supersonic is far more deadly than subsonic. Supersonic ammo delivers over 3 times the energy of subsonic. And subsonic cannot deliver a cavitating wound regardless of the range. Supersonic delivers a cavitating wound out to several hundred yards. And as long as you are shooting suppressed you can shoot either without hearing protection. I would never hunt with subsonic.

@dans6476 Hornady Sub-X will kill, but the like he said, not enough energy like a super. I know because I shot a buck with a 16" barrel at 20 yards and got zero blood trail on a perfect heart shot. Luckily I found him about 75 yards out

didnt know 300 blackout would drop them that hard. I was going to buy a 458 socom for hunting. But its going to be a do everything gun so its still useful.
Get 450 bushmaster. Doesnt have the cool factor of havin socom inn the name but I promise you it works. On top of that just compare prices between the two.... trust me. Your talkin to a guy that's used everything from 223 up to 50 Beowulf as hunting cartridges and a shit ton of other calibers in between.
