I was one of the players who won the 12u championship

One knee down is fine with nobody on and pitchers have good control. I had a dad teaching his kid one knee down for U10 ball and the kid had more passed balls than the other 2 catchers we have. My son who is one of the other catchers had the least because I taught him to be on his feet which keeps him mobile and he could get to balls thrown through the batters boxes. So it really depends on the pitchers accuracy and the level of play.. I caught for 17 years and had used just about every catching stance you can think of and had the arm to make the throw to 2nd from my knees. Catchers need to be careful not tip pitches with their stance. As they mature and get better, what they should do is really what is most appropriate and comfortable for the game situation, sometimes that means being uncomfortable because you are tired or injured. Don't be lazy and embrace the SUCK if you want to be good.

I remember when Benito Santiago caught and threw runners out from both knees. Pure arm strength.

So happy to see the transfer taught properly. Too many young catchers now are being taught to transfer across their chest. I’m fortunate to have a dad that caught and was drafted and taught me the fundamentals behind the plate.

yeah so i have a fexibility issue and back then I was a terrible catcher but now that I play with the one knee down stance I went from being terrible to being really good
