What an edit. Good sound mixing. I thank the whole universe infinite times for bringing me here - Alan Watts
Thank you 🙏🙏🙏
Who is speaking here?
interesting.. he says you don't know what's good for you because genetics. because evolution optimizes that we can't find that out. otherwise if we found that out we would stop reproducing, so it's the last thing evolution wants. so to reach enlightenment is to beat evolution. which is of course crazy hard because evolution has come so far. but evolution is obviously not perfect or we wouldn't keep evolving. so the further evolution goes on the harder meditation becomes. but it also becomes easier because intelligence increases. it's the curse of 'you're not allowed to find out' versus the development of an understanding of the self which can only come across when the organism optimizes strongly for that understanding, has a high motivation. then that motivation if it is stronger than desire (which is evolution), can outpace evolution. if it outpaces evolution for long enough, you reach enlightenment. so the whole trick is to swim against the stream of desires and also against how people are because they largely indulge in desires. which is to say: don't be a normie, be different. let people talk about you, be that person. as long as you know you make progress, everything is alright, no matter how empty life becomes and how little pleasure there is. because pleasure is the curse. after you experience pleasure, you brain will remember it and seek for it. when you stop pleasure, you forget how that feels and what the point of it was. forgetting is ultimately part of enlightenment, if not the key aspect. then when you reach a strong sense of how to be happy without pleasure, in peace, then you continue to the next stage. in other words, the more you meditate, the easier meditation becomes. it only makes sense: when you are stuck in suffering, that is your debt (karma), it's your past indulging in desires, you sticking to pleasure. then you must be purged, suffer and forget pleasure. it's somehow seemingly impossible to see the bad in pleasure, that's why beings go to the hell realms, and not because of their doing, the doing is a result of that. and then when you escape them, your debt is less. now you can continue to the higher understandings, but you can't skip steps because you have debt and it needs time to be paid. so as long as you have not understood the harm of desire. so what is so bad about it? I assume it's not the positive feeling of desiring something, the joyful feeling. but it's the fear that is coupled to desire. when you die and your body falls apart, you are scared of letting it continue. then you will put effort in fixing the situation, your health. it is somewhat justified in order to stay alive and continue learning. but a deeper truth is that the fear is unjustified, falling apart is fine, giving up is fine. to not see that is the ultimate illusion. so the opposite of desire is trust
This Noble Deed can bless so many! Thank you, Thank you and THANK YOU 😍
I love you
sorry but the rap is trash

Alan Watts... Yet another religious con man. He was an alcoholic fruit cake.....
Yesss
A wonderful reading. This seems to be a commentary on the ribhu gita. The actual text of ribhu gita is much longer. Rest the mind in the peace of silence, aum shanti shanti shanti. ☺❤

I am lvl 1.
I cant understand what this means by "consciousness". Our false perceptions ?
Being someone born and raised in a western secular country, I had no idea there was a whole religion/spiritual way of thinking from asia that perfectly put to words what I had to rigorously learn myself. The higher self. The observer. I learned that way of existence partly through a complete accident, and partly through introspection and ego death. All put into motion by the speeches of Alan Watts and an interest in Tihkal by Shulgin like 8 years ago. What's cool about it, is being more forgiving and graceful to myself. And being freely myself. Without caring if people judge me or insult me, because I have something those ego-driven people don't have: inner peace. I wouldn't have wanted to spend time with people like that anyway, even though I really wanna help them. Balance and inner peace is everything. Thank you Alan ❤️
You're not watching yourself, you're discrediting some of your actions.
ribhu gita is also illusionary

This is for you brother thank you for getting this out to the masses.I can see the Vail has lifted on you,if you haven't learned how to leave the body while wide awake practice putting the mind to sleep.Mantra only then no mantra then you can get release
You must control & train the mind first, you do not want to come into another physical body it only brings sorrow. There are other forms besides the physical body to take The law is what is born must die but we were never born tame the mind & see the mind of the mind. Then learn how to manifest
from which lecture did you take his speech?
found it...bought it....it's a rare recording from 1967. you can find some examples for a hell of a money in the US or remastered CDs "OM - the sound of hinduism"

There is some sanskrit word that is mistranslated by almost everyone as “knowledge”. Clearly should be “knowing”, ie self-knowing not self-knowledge. One cannot be constantly immersed in “self-knowledge”. A knowledge is static and factual. Self-knowing can be ongoing.
So good thank you what a legend very smart.
did you edit this together like certain words he say, isn't it from another place in time of him speaking? "RE Edit" yes this is a work of your own doing, I am happy you puzzled this together what a hero you are.
the juxtaposition of him saying "can I improve me" while showing a shot of him smoking a cigarette made me laugh
I heard this bit by Watts once about how Buddhist monks sometimes smoke or have some sort of minor vice because it’s like the yin to their yang.
