Nancy Stroud: The Day We Walked In | 50 Stories for 50 Years
Longtime supporter Nancy Stroud recounts the day the Afro-American Cultural Center doors opened at the former Little Rock AME Zion church site. In 1986, the Center relocated from Spirit Square to this historic structure at North Myers and Seventh Streets in the First Ward neighborhood. Stroud and other women blazed trails in Charlotte banking and the professional advancement of minorities within these institutions.

    I heard her sing for the first time on Lonnie Plaxico’s new Album Radiance and was hit very hard by her beautiful voice. Then I find out she’s a great saxophonist too. I’m looking forward to hearing more of her.
