Pros and Cons of Living In Idaho Falls
I was hoping morenitas was in your top three
I’m from Iowa. Everyone from anywhere Other than Idaho and Iowa get the two states confused. I just say we are the corn, Idaho is the potato’s. Love both states.
The con is you telling everyone about this area and inviting the carpet baggers here
Bison not buffalo.
Major turn off for me is the Mormon influence. Not interested in the right wing politics either.
All are 10 pros for me
Thank you for the information, but please please normalize your volume. Your SFX volume is like 10x higher than your voice volume and almost blew out my eardrums.
Just do me a favor! If you move here because you don’t like where you are, don’t try and make here like there!!!!! Keep our town safe and keep the culture that I’ve grown to love and raised my kids to love!!!! Don’t come in to change things 😢
The story sounds good but i can assure you the Mormons will drive you to drinking . Yhey are like a cult in Idaho Falls buyer beware
Y'all should just visit and enjoy Idaho for what it is (just as you should anywhere you travel) and leave the prejudice and politics in the closet. If you like the overall picture, move there. If not, move on.
Idaho falls is a great place to live as long as you like freezing your butt off in the winter, being around Mormon Culture, and having very few fun things to do.. I lived 55 miles from Idaho Falls but left due to harsh winters. I live in the region of Idaho that is about opposite to Idaho Falls. Not cold, not Mormon, way more outdoor activities, no interstates, the only seaport in Idaho, and it is currently sunny outside today on the 23rd of February and will be 54 degrees today and at 2700 feet elevation.
How do you like the winters in Lewiston?
@@WestCoastRoller I live 80 miles upriver from Lewiston. I will go there to shop next Wednesday. When we, upriver, get snow, Lewiston gets rain. I live at the same elevation as Boise and last winter I had to plow my driveway twice. Lewiston folks never have to do that. The elevation is around 700 feet compared to Boise at 2800. Plus it has the warm influence warming the climate. The Clearwater River joins the snake here and makes a bit lake that extends into Washington. If I couldn't live my area, I'd live in Lewiston. This most of north central Idaho gets the Pacific coast influence up the three big rivers, Columbia, Snake, and Clearwater.
amen.
It can be like that, alright.
Idaho Falls are great if you are Mormon.
We were ready to move to Idaho Falls until we started learning about the INL. It was just too close for us to be comfortable especially with it being deemed a Superfund. Placing anything nuclear on a town’s aquifer is just madness. And now the INL has a lot of cleanup still to do. Our search for a new place to call home continues, unfortunately.
Great point!
Good luck! The entire world is polluted
@@DrDingus It feels that way, for sure.
Did you ever find somewhere new to call home? I've been on the hunt for months with no luck...
@@Travisb238 yup yup! We settled in Emmett.
I love hole inspections.... 😅
Yeah buddy cheaper for everyone except who actually is from here!! 🙄Wife and I are 5th generation IF natives and we can’t even afford a house in our own hometown!!! So frustrating!!!!!!!
Your varying sound levels gave me a frggn jumpscare lol
Damn, I was onboard until the winter temperatures, no way I could talk my wife into that. She hated the 10 below in winnemucca nv
I live in the Panhandle and it is now the 11th of November and it won't freeze tonight. But I once lived 50 mile SE of Idaho Falls and -20 was nothing. I still have a picture of 3 inches of snow on my Bronco on the 23rd of July. In my region in Idaho, we have the only seaport.
I lived 50 miles east of Idaho Falls once teaching school and the snow was on the ground 9 months and -40 was nothing. We finally had to move due to the cold.
@@PatrickThreewit Lewiston?
Speak up
My son lives in Idaho Falls. My daughter lives near Iona. Witch gives me six grandchildren there. And we are all bred and born Idaho people.
And you are Mormon, but your culture is way different from non-Mormon move-ins from other states. And you are a bit clannish.
Hope you like mexican food 👍👍
IF is the best place in the state and I hesitate saying that because I don't want it to get ruined
We are also getting the world's first mini nuclear reactor
I grew up here and it used to be awful now it's living up to our title definitely a gem state not a potato state that's California
Just moved here from New Mexico September 2022. Lots of Pros, some Cons. Was 15 below zero. Food at the restaurants are "just okay". Not a lot of Organic choices. Definitely lacking in nightlife. Great Golf. Nice people. No jobs. Low pay. Culture is weird. So far its been better than having homeless naked people with knives on my lawn. I wish IF was more conservative. If the local government doesn't get a grip on things now, and the community is not careful, Brandon will be shipping the crazy peeps all over Idaho.
Where are you seeing liberal encroachment? All I hear is that the area is very conservative and Mormon. I will be furious if I move out of a liberal city and into another area transforming into liberals.
@@jfkst1 Pretty much every place that's desirable is being infiltrated. That's part of their agenda. It's a major concern for me too, as nearly every place I've considered moving to is showing signs of leaning left.
@@jfkst1 Liberals seem the same as conservatives to me and I live in the Panhandle
@@PatrickThreewitwhaaat?? I’m not sure you’ve met a true liberal then 😂
@@OldJoeBlowsThere are liberal Mormons in Idaho Falls. Mostly conservatives because they are obedient and follow what their Church leaders tell them to do, and that conservatism began when they had an anit-semetic president. Liberals like Biden want to help the Jews commit genocide against the Palestinians, and keep us in a war to help the military-industrial complex (the rich), but conservatives believe strongly in government control such as controlling a woman's body and making marijuana illegal, pushing white conservative Christian nationalism and Project 2025, which will make America a Christian nation and give us a Christian theocracy, and of course in 2016 Trump gave the rich a huge tax cut. And recently the conservative leaning Cato Institute which is supported by the Kochs, who support republican candidates, came out with their yearly report of states with the most and the least personal freedom. My state was the second least free state. The first least free was Texas. After Idaho was Wyoming, Kentucky and South Carolina. California, Oregon, and Washington were not the freest but just a bit below the freest ten. I haven't been a conservative for years because I like freedom so I am a libertarian. Are people who think we have too much of a gun culture a liberal? I think we need universal background checks and I really don't see a lot of need for an assault rifle, be it Ak-47 or 74 or 5.56. I don't need 50 guns or thousands of rounds of ammo. I sleep well at night. I don't worry about people breaking in and I'm a 79-year old widower. I like liberals as well as conservatives, most most MAGA conservatives seem to hate anyone not their color.
Could you compare the different cities in the SE like Pocatello, Jerome, Twin Falls, Idaho Falls, and any other small towns in the SE? How are they different? Which one is better for what? Are they all remote? 🤔 Great video!
I'd love to see that.
The farther down the Snake River you go, the warmer it gets in winter.
The farther upstream you go on the Snake River the higher the elevation and the colder the winters. Rexburg is near the Henry's Fork of the Snake at an elevation of about 4500 feet. I drive down river from the largest tributary of the Snake and shop at Costco which is less than a mile from the Snake where the elevation is 450 feet. Winters are mild and Idaho even has a seaport there in Lewiston..
Someone in the comments mentioned the welcoming aspect, we are looking to move from the UK, we are still researching many parts of the US and have a lot of family in Illinois but don’t really fancy that state, do people from other countries tend to be welcomed or it is very much a “you are not local” kind of thing?
That answers my question I guess
@@Jayjay38382 What's wrong with Illinois? Midwestern people are very friendly. Just live south of Interstate 64 unless you like harsh winters
@@brockreynolds870at this point the same things wrong with every other blue hair state. Although I’m still in California so I’ll shut up now. 😢
@@OldJoeBlows The problem is... you've been conditioned to look upon this as a "Red state, blue state" issue, when a great deal of issues are decided on the COUNTY level. California tends to be a very authoritarian state... regulating the crap out of everybody, but almost no other states are like that. For instance, in relation to building codes.. there are 9 states that have NO state building codes, it's all administered at the county level, and many rural counties have none. So you don't need building permits, and have the freedom to build what you want. Idaho is NOT one of those 9 states, but "blue" Illinois, IS.
@@brockreynolds870 agreed. 👍 I’d like to live somewhere where my tax dollars support my values. This is one of my biggest problems with California. I work my ass off and that money goes to people that kill their babies, people that live off govt systems and thieve, and health care for non-citizens that live tax free. It’s such bullshit and the blue hairs care more about criminal rights than Joe Citizen. Newsom is a disgusting disgrace to this state and country. The homelessness that is permitted is unreal, third world. The tax money that is taken to support these NGOs where 10% goes to maintaining the problem and 90% in the administrative pockets, is inhumane. I feel like a little seed trying to grow in a pond of scum. I don’t know where to go anymore. 🤦🏼♀️ I keep praying on it.
Do you know if there is any comercial tree companies around the Idaho falls area?
Moved to Idaho Falls Id for 22 months too long for INEL. The community was aweful. The mormons own everything but the lab and they think they own that too. The divisions are real and antagonist. They tried hiring my husband back and it wasnt even a consideration.
Bulshit. We moved to Idaho falls 7 years ago. You're exaggerating everything you just said compared to the reality of living here. Maybe it's just you. Maybe being a bitch in California is cool, but you can't get away with it here😏
If you need to be entertained by having places you can do activities Idaho isn't the place for you because there's not a lot of that happening
Maybe because you're boring. Boating, fishing, hunting, off-roading , camping, hiking, etc..... Like I said, if you're bored here that's definitely a YOU problem. Go touch grass
Unless you are Mormon there's little to do.
Very informative and straightforward video, good job
You didn't mention Idahoan mistrust of others. Idaho Falls is a very conservative community. They do not welcome liberal polices. Liberals welcome (by maybe half of us), just not liberal policies (by most idahoans). Xenophobic is the wrong word. It's the attitudes that are not welcome. I have met many Californias that moved to Idaho to get away from the homelessness and gang issues. Also met California's that moved here and still employ the same methods of "survival" they used in LA. Less than legal methods and we would rather that not be brought here. That's the issue for all Idahoans that I talked to about this subject. (Maybe 25 plus)
If we're being real here, Idaho tends to be a bit xenophobic. But a mild distrust of outsider is probably a healthy thing. In the end, you're moving somewhere with a safe, insular community. Of course they are going to be skeptical of the behavior and politics of people coming from blatantly worse places.
Agreed! We transitioned our 4 yr old in California and after moving to Idaho we were NOT accepted for our liberal "Progressive" beliefs. It is frustrating as we are very social and just purchased an extremely expensive and large fondue set in our Che Gua room!!
@Mr196710 have you no shame? Stay away from Idaho.
@@ts4426 I was trolling BUT many Californians are like this. I’m originally from Kentucky.
@Mr196710 I'm glad you were trolling. People who actually think that way should be moved to an island by themselves with no way off.
I grew up in Idaho Falls and lived in Boise as well. The people there are not welcoming of others and very xenophobic. If you are a far right wing caucasian Christian and you don’t like different cultures of people then this place is perfect for you!
@@livinginidahofalls I grew up in Idaho Falls I roamed as a skater and was able to get as far away as I could from such a close minded community😂🙌🏾 Having to politely ask a family at Perkins to stop staring at my girlfriend at the time who was Chinese..I’m latino..to ask to stop being stared at is just the way it is there for outsiders. Upon departing town she requested to never have to go back when I visit my family and I totally was cool with that!
Can't wait to move there!
So they're normal?
@@regen3rate normal in terms of a majority of people that do not like different cultures or people, they don't like hearing other languages, they don't like anything other than what they are use to...if that is normal the yes they are normal.
Good, my pioneer families settled this area. They were driven out of their homes in mid winter with no food, clothing and the bare necessities of life Missouri, Illinois, and the federal government did their best to kill us off. We really don’t care what you like, talking about close mindedness, if we don’t think like you or live our lives like you then we are closed mined and bigoted racists. You need to look in the mirror and judge yourself before you judge a community for their beliefs and way of life, if you don’t like it, move!
You had me up until the winter.
Just looking for a summer home, that has some good off roading close by. Not atv, but in my trucks. Livr in Az.
So I met this guy back on the East Coast and he asked “where are you from“ I said Idaho, to which he replied Idaho”? I said yeah,“ he said Idaho?, Yeah Idaho” I replied again! . he then said “ I had a hoa , but I couldn’t keep her home” 😂😂😂😂
I heard, "Idaho? No YOU da hoe!"
One reason I left Idaho Falls after being born and raised there is the freaking wind! Sometimes it will blow for months on end starting at every day at around 10 AM and it will blow and gust all day long every day forever! And realize in the winter it will not get above 10° for several months , and summer starts in June!! it can snow any day and sometimes after😩😩
Great video. Very informative.
Beautiful home. My husband, my son and I are wanting to move there in a couple of months. We will be renting but I live the info you post in this channel.
Thanks for sharing this Video 👏👏👏 well done. I have been looking in Idaho for the last 2 years. Meridian, Caldwell, Twin Falls and happen to drive through Idaho Falls in May on my way to the Grand Tetons. I immediately fell in love. Looking to spend some time in Idaho Falls in the next couple of months. I'm a conservative living in a blue state and have had enough sadly. Tired of fighting and looking to be around like minded people. Why is it when you tell anyone that your considering Idaho they say oh that state is racists? I have never seen it or felt it in my time spent there. My husband is native American and Asian and felt very comfortable in Idaho. I don't understand the stigma to your beautiful state. Hope you continue with your videos, many blessings to you 🙏.
Yer, because your husband is not Black/African America. They are racist to black people.
Idaho has that “racist” rap because of the skinheads that had a commune there. That, and when I was growing up there, nobody cared what color your skin was. Didn’t matter and I suspect it’s still the same. Nobody gets special treatment based on skin color or anything else. Unfortunately today there are a lot of people who call that racist. I was blessed to grow up in Idaho Falls. I expect you’ll like it.
@@Wranglerlaura Thank you,I never felt it or saw it while we were in any part of Idaho. I think people say things to discourage you or they have a fear of change. Are you still in Idaho? Many blessings to you.
@@katedeo5840 , I live in Texas now. I have pretty bad arthritis in many joints. Makes living in Idaho again unrealistic if I want to walk during winter. My brother still lives up there though.
@@Wranglerlaura well thats not only why the extreme right wing republicans that live here. My hudband is black my daughter is bi racial they and a couple other people have experienced the racist stigma that still does exsist.
This guy is full of shit. He has stumbled on one of Idaho’s pit falls, meth and fentanyl. Get help young man.
That's an amazing house and location.
great video. what is the location of the picture at the 37 second mark?
Looking forward to your upcoming video's. Thank you so much!
