Funny How Gene didn't say that he is a Charis student but said he is a local tax payer. Those students need to understand that just because you go to that school dose not make you a better person. They don't care about the community unless it is about them. Landlords do not put tax into the rents. The lies being pushed! They still can not bring up any facts on what and how they have helped the Woodland Park community! NOTHING! to this day!

  • @thesavageswife4782

I’m just hoping that charis comprehends how much further this will divide our community. Yes OUR community. Which existed long before THEY came. I understand the law is the law whether or not we like those laws or not in this circumstance. But to be ‘Christians’ and do this to their ‘neighbors’ (and that man with such arrogance in his sense of ‘righteousness’) is a disgusting example of what I believe my Christian friends would want represented. Hold on Woodland Park, because I now fully believe Charis is here to completely ruin your community in order to make it ‘theirs’

Placing blame on the city council for Charis's reputation is pure horse 💩. Their actions, Andrew's actions and words, and this lawyer are the ones ruining Charis's reputation! This is one more drop of crap in the bucket from Charis. They constantly cause trouble.

Disappointment with the ill-informed statements by candidates concerning three topics. A) (1:45:36) Transparency/Allegation of Council getting together outside of public to determine sixth Council member. B) (1:46:33) Someone that sued the DDA being appointed to the DDA Board, which does not making sense. C) (1:13:14 and several other points in broadcast) Vendor Fee categorization. A) I'm a sitting Council Member not running for election or re-election. I can categorically state that no predetermination of a council nomination was ever agreed to outside the public domain. I was asked by the Mayor approximately two weeks prior to the public vote whether I would support appointing the candidate that had received the second highest voter count to the Council in the most recent Special Election. I said yes. I had no further discussions with any other council member. The statement that Mr Zuluaga made claiming that he had not been consulted is not true. I stood approximately 10' away from him when the Mayor approached him at the conclusion of the Council meeting prior to the appointment and floated the same question and idea to him as she had to me. I was not part of their discussion, only within hearing distance of the interaction. I do not recall the verbatim response but he conveyed in words and deportment that he could support that idea. I have no other knowledge about other council members' actions or discussions, nor any knowledge of how they would vote. The selection had not been predetermined, only the desire to use the method of the second place candidate since the first place candidate was already appointed. B) If it didn't make sense that the Plaintiff (who WON the lawsuit) should be appointed to the Board (Defendant) that wronged him, the candidate should take the time to read the Judge's Ruling. The Judge found entirely in favor of the Plaintiff and ruled entirely against all counter claims by the Defendant. A better question for the candidate would be, "why wouldn't you be removing the Board Members that spent over $600,000 taxpayers dollars in legal fees, damages and court costs to the Plaintiff to stop a development and WERE IN BREACH OF CONTRACT? The Plaintiff (a citizen and taxpayer) doesn't forfeit a right to volunteer to a Board that was not operating in the best interests of the Citizens and in fact, has more of a right to be on the Board than the members that lost the lawsuit. C) Vendor Fee was brought up many times. Four candidates continue to state that the Fee, which is actually a credit or subsidy, to cover work performed by Businesses, don't understand that the State and County provide 4% of the sales taxes collected to cover businesses work (and to help offset credit card costs). The City, since 1996 has continually voted down the Vendor Fee topic because the past and current Council understands it is a unfair subsidy to businesses, paid by the citizens. It is paying businesses twice for work performed once.

I reside at Jeff Baldwins RV park. I've paid them over $14,000. The manager Carl thanked me by charging me over double for the last month. They think they have the right to keep my $550 deposit simply because they think they can. These are businesses owners not philanthropists. Their bottom line is the bottom line.

I watch the zoom meetings. At this meeting the request to allow a variance for RV parking at the Shining Mt. Golf Course was discussed. I hope this problem can be resolved in favor of Shining Mountain so this good business is supported and also our wonderful law enforcement. Hopefully, this much needed parking for travelers will be permitted.

2:52:20 No, they are not going to realize that the other road has a million stop signs. A lot of the traffic using these side streets are tourist that are trying to avoid the hellish traffic jam that occurs in Woodland Park. This was poor planning on both the county and city. Have you actually tried to go through the "three stoplights" in Woodland Park on a weekend? It took 16 minutes to get from one end of town to the other this past weekend.

Well, they said it couldn't be done. Noel Sawyer reaches a new low. (1:26:00) He uses "council report" to make a campaign speech for himself and his impudent advocacy of Mayor Levy's campaign. But an campaign speech is not enough. He makes it an attack speech. His allegations against Councilman Carr are personal opinions based on faulty premises. But by setting up an ambush AT A COUNCIL MEETING, he prevented Councilman Carr from rebutting his ridiculous and misleading accusations. Take a shot and hide under the table. But we've seen disregard for ethics from Mr Sawyer before, haven't we? Who remembers when council faced a decision to revisit the selection of the Aquatic Center? Sawyer and Levy wanted to kill that proposal to revisit the decision in spite of the bitter divisiveness in the community. Sawyer and Levy were paid employees of the school system and longtime advocates for the school system's interest. They were facing a decision where the school system was a Very interested party. A clearer case of "appearance of conflict of interest" is hard to find. They both had clear appearance of conflict of interest. To get what they wanted they disregarded the conflict of interest ethics and insisted on NOT recusing themselves. The other council members agreed this was a conflict and stated that both should recuse themselves. So what to do? Well, they paid the city attorney an undisclosed amount to build a case that refusing to recuse themselves would not be ILLEGAL. “Not illegal” was good enough for them. As a result these two people decided by themselves for our entire community that the community will should be ignored, that conflict of interest is a legal matter and not an ethical matter. The rest is history. We now have a pool within the school system and a bitterly divided community. And the same two people are running for reelection. The point? After this AND other ethical dalliances, Sawyer, chooses to excoriate Councilman Carr. Excoriate For what? For not laying down and keeping quiet while the four liberals on Council insist on getting their way. Sawyer is demanding that once THEY decide, everyone else is required to shut up. Required to stop representing the people. Required to not challenge irresponsible choices by the liberal four. Council is not supposed to be genteel country club of the elite. Or in our case, a club of the liberal-four. It is supposed to be an institution of debate and individuals fighting for the interests of the people. Mr Carr was performing his duty. Sawyer, Harvey, and Levy were again violating ethics by conspiring to disparage Mr Carr at a public council meeting. (you can expect that the City officials will remove this Post asap. You can find it however at FACEBOOK.COM/BETTERWOODLANDPARK Replies welcome !

I've noticed that since the topics at these meeting have become more "uncomfortable", someone has turned the microphone volume down to the point that the audio cannot be heard without turning my sound to the absolute max, then straining to hear. Is that a coincidence?

I remember reading in the Pikes Peak Courier a couple of months ago (VOLUME 55 | ISSUE 36 | September 07, 2016) that despite the recent political and legal clashes, both the DDA board and city of Woodland Park representatives appear on the same page regarding the DDA’s "intention" to repay the city for a previous $1 million loan it incurred "FROM" Woodland Park for a previous project in 2007 that went bust. Seems like to me, if the DDA WOULD HAVE paid their debt in a timely manner, the City of Woodland Park would not have to find ways to "CUT" their budget now. What's the holdup on the repayment of the Loan??? ~ Concerned WP Resident...

Good meeting! And Good info.! Thanks! The evacuation map on inciweb is hard to read, and the legend is illegible even when enlarged; it looks like the entire city is evacuated...Since there is no information about how long 24 will remain closed, I guess we can expect it to remain closed until the fire is near completely contained. Probably closer to the July 16th goal of containment, if all goes well... I would not count on the road opening in time for 4th of July. It's a nice thought though.
