Wooting 60HE Sound test
Just wanted to share with you my personalised Wooting 60He.
Switches are the default ones which I did not lubricate (as many have tried and said it did not make much of difference sound wise, I don’t know, should I lubricate it to find out?), stabilisers are the default ones as well, only things I swapped out are the case and the keycaps :)
Let me know your thoughts?

Modding a $50 60% Budget Gaming Keyboard in 2024

I bought one of the most widely sold keyboards on Amazon, the HK Gaming 60% keyboard. The variant that I bought was aesthetically pleasing, the combination of both the red case and red keycaps gave an overall vibrant and unique look which was a step up considering that most 60% boards only come in the typical black/white variants. Aesthetics aside, in terms of sound, this keyboard could really ...

Modding the Leaven K28 with $20

This is the Leaven K28 - a 60% mechanical keyboard priced at about USD$50 on Banggood. It supports both wireless and wired connection, and is hot-swappable (outemu sockets) allowing for users to remove the switches without having the need to desolder and solder. Removing the switches required some effort in strength as the sockets were fairly tight since they are outemu. If you are looking to s...

Am I the only one who hates the wootinh 60HE sound. Even modded it just about gets by
😮💨🥲
@@whiskers5942 new wooting was improved tons but… the price doesn’t justify it at sll
I dont wanna pay 200 for a keyboard maybe 60-90 lol
Agree that it’s overpriced, but I am still a sucker for these things 🥲
what are all the mods, specifically the case and the strap and the cable?
It’s just personalized - swap out the plastic case for a metal casing, and the keycaps. The switches and stabilizers are unlubed (I was hesitant of lubricating the switches as I came across comments saying that it didn’t made much of a difference sound wise so I am still kind of deciding whether or not to lubricate the switches). It does not sound good on its own anyway, so I might just lubricate the switches to see if it makes any much of a difference 🥹
@@whiskers5942 where did you get the case and strap tho?
The strap comes with the purchase of the metal case. Got mine from Taobao for about USD80. I am not sure if it's accessible from your region but I found a vendor selling it on Aliexpress: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007267488911.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.main.13.288bWLhgWLhgBD&algo_pvid=81281e27-3543-496c-b654-af7391cf2b42&algo_exp_id=81281e27-3543-496c-b654-af7391cf2b42-6&pdp_npi=4%40dis%21SGD%21323.57%21161.79%21%21%211709.28%21854.64%21%40213bd97f17279480303073565eb098%2112000040004824306%21sea%21SG%210%21ABX&curPageLogUid=wgqDt8HLdXTY&utparam-url=scene%3Asearch%7Cquery_from%3A
im your 100 sub congrats w keyboard btw
The keyboard could be better with more mods (I will have to find out for myself), but thank you for the kind encouragement 🙏🏻
sounds like my gateron optical switches, if they arent actual mechanical switches they always sound super hollow and bad
Yup, this keyboard does not sound as good as I’d hope. I have read comments saying that modding it does little in terms of acoustics - a huge let down considering the price point. Then again, maybe I will attempt to mod it just to see how it compares
where did you get the keycaps?
@johnnybeta8572 store.cablemod.com/product-category/keycaps/abs-laser-keycap-sets/
Yes, try it out to see if there is a difference sound wise
Worse 260 dollar 💵?

@@whiskers5942 dont? In my contry is cost like this 🤯
What are you on about mate💀
Nah for real, it definitely does not sound as good as I hope, and yes it does cost around that price tag from where I am from 🥹, it’s an even bigger let down to hear that modding does little in terms of acoustics considering the price point but I will have to mod it to find out for myself - perhaps an idea for a follow up video 🙏🏻

i really dont know if i should get a lucky65 or m1 v3
if you really want a 75% with wireless i think you can go Leobog hi8, rainy75, galaxy80. Those boards are better in my opinion..but if you are going with looks i think the lucky65 is one of the best especially in its price range if you dont mind the 65% layout. If wireless is not a priority you can also go Hi75 which is a good 75% option but it is only wired.. you can watch my soundtests for reference the sound profile of the hi75 is quite near the Hi8.
Haven’t used the m1 v3 so I can’t comment, however something for you to consider for the Lucky65 is the software issue. Despite its sleek appearance and solid build, the keyboard seems to have some issues operating via wired mode (I can only use it via Bluetooth or 2.4ghz), somehow the key presses does not register and this is consistent in both keyboards (A&B). The second complaint I have is that the on/off key is quite inaccessible given that it is hidden under the tab keycap… just my 2 cents 🙏🏻
@@whiskers5942 i think i will go for m1 v3 then thanks
@whiskers5942 Hi! I experienced the same issue the fix that I found was switching to wired mode because it defaults to 2.4 mode. To do that hold FN + Tab. Hope this helps! Found this in the user manual
I did exactly that but it didn’t seem to solve the issue 🥲 I felt really bad cos these two sets were gifted, I got another one for myself, fingers crossed that I don’t run into the same problem 🥹 Thank you for trying to help tho 🙏🏻

How to mod this keyboard i have exact same
Hi there, unfortunately I no longer have this keyboard with me ( I gave it away ).. however you can refer to squashyboy’s video: ruclips.net/video/HXT6Mv_6Wyk/видео.htmlsi=uaJqCVIg5xmu4rIh for reference, the steps are quite similar (different model and brand but membrane keyboards are kind of build similarly).. hope this helps!
Ok fanks
For myself PBTFANS: 1:01 1:29 (foam) GMK 1:06 1:33 (foam)
ive always considered myself a thock type of guy (gat black inks on a KBD67 lite with poly plate), but the gmk sounds better here imo interesting enough. Especially with foam, that spacebar pop sounds super nice whereas the PBT sounds dead and boring.
bro, you are so wrong...I actually can not believe you thought that this was mushy...i will report

Lowkey sounds great though, no hate
Just playing along on my end! 😄 But glad that you like it ✨
That ticking on the right side of the spacebar 😭
My bad! 😭
Stock foams? planning to change the IXPE sheet with regular PE idk if it will make a difference im torned. Same keyboard btw!
Yup stock foam. IXPE foam is denser than PE from what I understand, theoretically it should make the keyboard sound deeper (aka thocky). Then again the effect of this change might not be significant 😮
Only the name remains of this keyboard))) Nice mode, bro
Thanks 🙏🏻
Sounds amazing. 🤍

should i buy this or rk61?
The rk61 is definitely more reliable and brings more value. Leaven K28: 1. Input lag After about 3 months of gaming on this board - I experienced lag (wired), some of the keystrokes were less sensitive which were not ideal especially in competitive gaming. If you are buying this keyboard for the purpose of gaming (competitive). I wouldn’t recommend it. However if it is just for normal day to day use and for the experience of owning a 60% keyboard without spending too much - this is a go-to board. 2. Limited to outemu switches Something that I appreciate about this board is that it allows you to change the switches without having to desolder and solder. The only limitation of the sockets is that it is only compatible with outemu switches, which means other switch types like Cherry mx or Gaterons will not fit as the pins would be too thick (you can attempt to file down the pins but I do not recommend this since it requires lot of precision and skill for it to be done right or you risk ruining a perfect switch, also because it is very time-consuming). RK61: 1. Input Lag My experience with RK61 so far is that it tends to lag when I game wirelessly, this does not happen when I play on wired mode. That was however an older model I believe - not the latest version (tri-mode connection and hotswappable) so perhaps the performance for it has improved - I will have to use the board and find out for myself 😄 2. Compatible with more switches Compared to the Leaven K28 keyboard, the latest version accommodates for 3/5 pin switches which means you do not have to clip the 5 pin switch to fit into the 3 pin socket so you wouldn’t need to spend time on this which is great! The other benefit of rk61 is that it is compatible with far more switches - be it outemu, gateron or cherry mx switches etc, it too is hotswappable so you can swap out the switches easily without the need to solder or desolder. 3. Also the RK61 (latest model) supports three types of connection (wired, wireless bluetooth or 2.4ghz dongle) unlike the leaven keyboard (only 2 types: wired and wireless bluetooth). So depending on your needs and preference, this might be a value add. For the reasons above, the RK61 would be a better choice 😄 PS: Do ensure that you check out the specs before purchasing especially those priced USD50 and less (likely to be the older model which is not hotswappable)

POM Plate PE foam (Case) Force-break mod (Reduce ping) Tape Mod - 2 layers such great mods... make a world of difference
How much was the mod?
Keycaps - USD100+ Switches - USD20 Lubricant - USD10-20 PE foam (roll) - USD5+ Total about USD45+ (ex shipping/taxes and the berserk keycaps). There are cheaper alternatives for the SA keycaps going for about USD30 on Amazon (designs and colours are different tho), I think Hipyo tech did a review on one of those
the PBTFans dolch keycaps seem really high quality for me. Never owned GMK keycaps but I reckon its a matter of diminishing returns when it comes to quality. Youre often going to be spending twice as much money on GMK keycaps, but I would definitely not say theres many ways they could be twice as good. GMK are probably by a large margin the best ABS keycaps on the market, which have the advantage of being highly vibrant and having nice colours. If you want a keyboard that *looks* the best, GMK may be your best bet. Id reckon a set of PBTFans and GMK would physically last about as long as each other though. I bought some PBTFans dolch because after looking at several brands of PBT keycaps on the internet, those seemed to be the ones with the best reputation that were accessible in my country. Theyre nice and thick and likely highly durable, while the colour is still very nice. They feel and sound great to type on, and they were easy to find online. PBTFans have had some very nice designs, the “No Signal” keycaps look amazing and if I ever needed to replace mine, those are what id go for next. Chances are PBTFans are good enough for the average keyboard enthusiast. GMK keycaps are expensive as hell, and arnt in any sense “objectively” better than the PBTFans in most of the departments I care about. Theyre also way easier to get your hands on, living in the UK id need to get GMK keycaps shipped from Germany as thats the only way im currently aware you can get most sets here. Plus I have the PBTFans keycaps on a Tex shinobi, I needed to cut some plastic off of the G H and B keys. Not something id risk with the GMK keycaps, even if the Thinkcaps set was basically destined for that keyboard.
hi i dunno if you face this problem , but my leaven k28 keyboard is not able to activate bluetooth pairing. it could at the start but after that it cant . i also notice that my the bulb beside the windows key kept flashing red even i charge the keyboard well. do you know any way to solve this issue?
Did you check your keyboard battery health? What you could do is use the keyboard in wired mode first for a couple of sessions, that way as you use ur keyboard, it will be charged as well. After which u can try connecting Bluetooth and see if this problem occurs still. For a change try pairing using “Fn + W” or “FN + E” instead of “Fn + Q”. You can also view the battery health of your keyboard in the settings section of your pc under the Bluetooth section. Should the problem persist, it might be that there is something wrong with the battery, you could consider getting a replacement for it or worst case, just continue to use board in wired mode, you can unscrew the keyboard and detached the battery from the pcb and continue to use it. This should also get rid of the “flashing red” light.

How does the typing feel? Is it smooth? I'm considering ordering some G Pro Red 3.0's but I want to make sure it's a worth investment.
The key presses are light feeling, and sound fairly decent for switches that are factory lubricated since most switches that are tend to sound scratchy, for the price I would say it is worth it. This is for the Gateron G Pro Reds though.. I have not personally tried the G Pro Red 3.0s so I can’t comment on that
@@whiskers5942 Awesome, thank you for telling me that. Glad you like your keyboard!
