Nice run!
Awesome video!!
awesome video. Lots of fun
What that net made from? Chicken wire? Pretty cool
Yep - they work best when they're shaped like a round, shallow box, with a flat bottom. The thin wire cuts thru the water with minimal drag, and the wire keeps it's shape and form, and doesn't entangle the crabs - they drop right out. On certain nights in late summer - you can find them swimming on the surface - hang a lantern off the side, and run up current at idle or just above - it's too durn easy.
you need a wind abatement device for your mic. Usually referred to as a dead cat. It's just a fuzzy thing to diffuse the wind over your mic
Yea definitely, i had just got the go pro so was trying it out. Im definitely hoping to get into filming a little more.
Nice catch
Nice..........
lovely personalities on that boat.
Brasil! Helo
May I know what jon boat model you are using?
this is a 2014 1756 G3 with a 25hp yamaha
The lady is like - I’ve seen too much, I’m bored. :-p
i wanna go
OMG can I crab with y’all ? I got bait and gas money. Things are slow in VA
This was from last year, its been a little slow here allso
Good crabbing in the South River.
Thanks but that was the severn that day
@@ryanribb5607 Deep water River. Sometimes hard to find a shallow enough spot. Crab On !
it is, but dont let that deep water fool you i have had my best day or 9.5 baskets on 2400 ft by 1030 in 15 to 18ft of water
@@ryanribb5607 I agree. I was always able to Crab the deeper water because I used longer Anchor lines than the average Bear. Others would laugh at me in the Channel on the Patuxent till the looked in my Boat. :)
is that a home made net? or is that something you bought somewhere?
its a net a buddy bought years ago and gave to me
@@ryanribb5607 damn, i made my own. I haven't been able to track them down yet.
@@mek86 o ok ill see if i can find out where he got it and i can let you know
Hi I would like to buy some crabs
How much for 5 bushels?
all depends on what size you want and where you are located
@@ryanribb5607 what's your email address?
@@ryanribb5607 I'm in Delaware
thank you for you video. Did you make the dip net ? is it 1 or 2 inch mesh?
I did not make the net i bought it
Fact: when jelly fish are present in the wye the crabbing is the best. Come off the ramp. Go left. Do not go to the bridge or far out. Head to the big house with the big lawn that sits on the water. Known as the sheep house. Its on your left by the second ditch goin out to big water. ( sheep in the lawn grazing) best crabbing in the wye. Also razor clams are the best bait at all times of the year. ( if you can find em)
yea man i have crabbed that area before and allways use razor clams. Thanks for reachimg out
Good jon
New Subscriber you made that look easy, I have a 1200ft line purchased last season, I’ll split it down to 600ft this year for my first run off my kayak. I’ve caught monsters off the navy boat yard. Stay safe this season 👌🏼keep the vids coming
there are some monsters in the severn. I crab all over and plan on doing alot of videos this year. keep in touch man and good luck this year
@@ryanribb5607 if you see someone on a Hobie pa14, probably will be me I’ll let you know how it goes.
@@bernardcarroll5610 sounds good man
take me! lol
How much do you make off of this? I have been looking into doing something like this for some time
Great job!!!!
Man I can't wait to go I drive about an hour and a half from West Virginia with my girlfriend a few times a year
Not bad at all.. about to open a commercial crabbing business and this video is helpful. May I ask how long the line is and roughly how many crab you get off it per pass (rough estimate)
i run 3200 ft usually and average run i would say 2 doz or so. My best run was a bushel and a quarter
Hey Ryan Do you sell bushels looking for a new whole seller contact me I'm Steve Novelle.store@gmail.com
Loved the video. Was wondering how much I’d have to invest to get started ? If I’m starting with nothing. Also how much line could I run on commercial license ?
so for me boat was $9k and commercial lic was $2300 and then other odds and end you may need maybe another $600 or so and with a commercial your line is unlimited
@@ryanribb5607 ty for the videos and information. What model boat is it ? Do you run like a 50hp motor ?
that is a G3 and its the 1756 model with a 25hp on the back
@@ryanribb5607 thank you What kind of money could I expect to make, as a weekend warrior ? I’d be running probably 4K of line.
@@RLA1983 honestly just depends on if you can stay on the crabs i had some $1k plus weekends and some where i didnt make much. I only crab the weekends my self
How your bait rigged
its basically a mesh bag that i put the claims in and then have bungees attached to the line with a slip knot. I fill the bags with clams and then put them in the slip knot and then wonce your done you pull the knot lose and dump the old clams out
@@ryanribb5607 thanks will have to try that method out here in Louisiana
You can allways look up on you tube how to make a trotline and there is a bunch of videos
@@ryanribb5607 thanks again
Dude. You were on 'em
How did y’all run that line and what’s in the bag . I Would love to try this method
search a you tube a video how to run a trotline crabbing and they are razor clams in the bags crabs go crazy over them
@@ryanribb5607 do you have a steering wheel on your jon boat model?
@@henryterrell7608 i do not, that is actually my older boat i just sold last fall. I bought a new boat alot bigger
To me it seems like a striped bass.
rockfish and striped bass are the same thing
@@ryanribb5607 , yep they are........
couldn't get a real good look at prop stick but it looks adjustable up and down. Thats what I need. did you make that or buy it ? Im also in Annapolis Md area.
yea man I bought the scoop part and then got some stainless and it is adjustable so I could use it on other boats it fits in side a standerd rode holder
Damn Bud for a minute there I thought somebody done took a video of me crabbing we got same boat same trash cans same trough same yellow Ben this video was definitely messing with my head for a couple minutes LOL where you crab at up we crab in Easton Maryland right on Tred Avon used to go out out of Bellevue but now we're up at the very end of Tred Avon at the top much better crab in there and don't have to deal with this many boats or rough water
no shit man lol small world I bounce around all over I was tompson last weekend I like crabbing the tred tho just a pain dealing with all big boats in the main river
Yeah I know them bigger boats r a pain in the ass would be so bad if the did come right by u 40 mph
you got that right man but I deal with it
But yeah come up to the tip top of tred Avon and there r only a couple of big boats and ever person out her crabing is polite and not ass holes
good deal man i appreciate it and good luck the rest of the season man and if i end up seeing my same setup I'll come say hi lol
Subscribed! I live in Baltimore and am thinking of getting a commercial crabbing license
good deal they arnt cheap but if you crab alot and can stay on them you can make some money
@Henry Terrell yes dnr isnt giving any more out so I actually put a post on Craigslist that I was looking a lcc and had a bunch of people reach out. couple things to look at is to call dnr and have them run the persons lic before you buy it to make sure there isnt any violations bec they transfer with the lic and the person has to have had the lic atleast 2 years in order for them to sell it
New subscriber here! Awesome way to crab. I’ve never seen it done like that.
yea man deff my favoriteway to catch them deff time comsuming baiting and unbaiting 3200ft but if you can find them you can fill some baskets
Wherd you buy that net at?
a buddy actuallygave me that net but i think anglers sells it
i enjoyed the video i went 2 the chester yesterday late morning early afternoon and qith 30 trapz i got 39 crabz now I'm not asking for ur exact spot but if itz ok 2 ask what body of water r u in
Thanks man and this was from the western shore south of the baybrdige
Yeah that is me an my dads old spot. LoL
I know that spot too
Nice job
Hey Ryan. looks like u had a productive day. Just wanted to give u a heads up. Make sure you have all your permits and lisences to sell current. All records up to date. MD DNR and the state health inspector are taking a close look at "LCC holders". The watermens lobby is again pushing the state to crack down on rogue LCC's who are selling without the seafood lisc, over female quotas and food storage issues. Rumor is that they are monitoring UTube and FB. Guy I worked with is 100 percent legit but got caught up in some kind of sting they were running Memorial weekend. He recieved a warning for transporting the crabs above safe temperature but no other violation.
Wow ok i appreciate the heads up im allways one to make sure i keep my ducks in a row and all my stuff up today
Where is the spot at
Its a secert
Very well said josh
I bet there's a Monistary near by. I know that spot....I think
that's my dad
@ 7:15 the crab was like “FREEDOM”....nope.
How much money a bushel, I hear all kinds of things but no first hand facts.
Matt Riser the first part of the season I get $160 for #1 males and $120 for #2 males and then around July or so I'll get 130 to 140 for 1s and 80 to 100 for #2s
Thanks man.
Matt Riser yes sir
Afternoon trip? Asking because everywhere that we go in the early morning has tons of boats crabbing.
Mike Davitt no this was the morning this spot is nice bec I usually don't have many boats around untill the word gets out
Someday I hope to be able to crab commercially. I would love to have a business that I actually enjoyed. I really enjoy your straightforward videos.
Mike Davitt thank you sir plan on making some more this year and its Alot of work but when ur on them u can make some money
How you connect it to your boat though
And how much it cost
Jack Torney I think it was like 60 or $70
How you bracket the pvc to the boat though
What kind of shad tree is that
Jack Torney it was a top I made out of pvc and a tarp
Thats how my Papa did it on Lake Des Allemands in LA. How long is ypur troine and what do you bait with. He had 2 at 2,500' and used salted bull lips.
Ched Ballz I had 2 lines and 2400 total and my baits were 6 ft apart
