Very nice job.
@curtiswallace5730 I appreciate that! If I need to do it again, I'm sure I can do it nicer and faster. Thanks for watching and the comment!
1987 Fiero GT here, my busing are worth off, i am searching for the whole Control arm replacement, but no luck, West Coast Fiero has a performance replacement, and Fiero store rebuilds the arm with bushings.
@eli_ace_chicano I ended up buying a good used on from ebay since mine was bent and couldn't be rebuilt without straightening it first. I have had very good luck with The Fiero Store with their new and used parts. I wouldn't hesitate to let them rebuild yours. Good luck and thanks for the comment and for watching!
Comes with the original owner
@glarson LOL
Novis already had too much power to keep the tires from spinning loose anywhere on the oval track. So what did Granitelli do ? He added another stage to the supercharger and made more power. Hurtubise traded the lead in '63 for a few laps losing the lead in the curves and getting it back onn the straights. He got flagged for Jones oil leak, probably because of the Novi's reputation for losing traction. Other drivers for Granitelli were rookie Bobby Unser and top fuel dragster shoe Art Malone. Malone finished something like 11th in '64 after Unser's car was caught up in the firey 2nd lap crash. What I'd like to find is a deep tech dive to find out if that two stage blower had an intercooler and If the two centrifugal impellers of different diameters were run on the same shaft RR Merlin style. Novis weren't the first race cars to go with a two stage blower. Alfa Romeo and Auto Union had success with two stage Roots blowers on European winding and slower tracks after and before the war respectively. A lot of people confuse two progressive stages of supercharging in series configuration with two speed superchargers which is simply putting a gearbox on a single impeller. It won't reach the same level of compression as one impeller feeding into the other that feeds the motor.
@icewaterslim7260 I always figured Granatelli went with a muti-stage setup to spread the effect of the boost over a lager section of the powerband. And that he wanted all wheel drive to put the increased power to the ground. There's lots of good information in Duke Nalon's biography, Granatelli's "Mr. 500" book and the Novi book by Ludvigsen. I still need to get the two volumes from Peters and Greuter. Thanks for the added information, watching, and the comment!
@smithmotorworks1969 Thank you back for the reading tips! Fascinated fanboy of the Novis since Granitelli brought them back to the brickyard. I had known about them even before as a pre-puberty kid having read some semi-fictional book whose title is long forgotten. The Novis were just big bad Roadsters that made big bad sounds. There is an audio-only Video on RUclips of Bobby Unser's qualifying laps that just screams every time he goes past the Microphone in the stands.
@icewaterslim7260 I think I've heard that one on RUclips! Totally awesome! I would love to have been there in person. That whole era of experimentation and innovation at Indy is all but gone there and in most of motorsport.
Let's go for a ride !!!
@tedalexander162 nothing like it on the road today! Thanks for watching and the comment.
Rolling class . What a beautiful car. Those were the days.❤
@lobodawg74 for sure! Even the smallest detail on that car is styled to look classy. Thanks for watching and the comment!
I miss my 58 waa
@ColinCottingham-j7c they are certainly beautiful automobiles. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
😎 i have a “towmotor” tow motor myself it looks the exact same as yours , nice to see very old iron still goin 😎🇺🇸
@rsmith3033 I don't think it's possible to kill those old Continental engines, LOL. I use mine a lot more than I thought I would. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Hey, thanks for the tips on this. I am working on a bypass hose that is too long for the coolant system in my car that burst and these multiple tips have been very helpful. The new hose is too long so I am going to cut it down to the old one's size. This has been helpful, take a thumbs up and subscribe. Thank you sir.
@Retronomicon you are very welcome! I'm glad you found this useful. I have other tips and tricks on the channel. I try to upload them as I use (or remember) them. Good luck on your project and thanks for watching, the comment, and the subscription!
Thank you to help Fiero ! And us!!!!😊
@bernardjeanlafleur5198 I'm glad it was useful. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
Hi! My Fiero 86 2m4 2.5. I buy it 25 year a go. No rust on it ! Fiero is park in my home garage ( heated). I have same problem like your! No power on my cluster but it start very Well All the part are new! I have GM shop book! Very good vidéo ! John
@bernardjeanlafleur5198 They are definitely fun cars to own. I'm glad you liked the video. Thanks for watching and the comment!
I remember the blue birds. Had a small block 305 if I recall.
@kcstarkey9140 I think I might have seen one of those too. I didn't notice them back then, but they are pretty awesome now! Thanks for the comment and for watching.
I just visited both these museums a couple of weeks ago!! Really cool museums and one can get a sense of entire history of the modern automobiles, at least up to about the 1980s. There was a DIESEL Chevette when I was there. Interesting history about the red DeLorean paint. There was also a Buick with entirely clear, untinted glass!
@DarrellButler-h2o There is some amazing stuff in each of them. I wish i had more time to spend. There's so much to see. If you are in the area again, you should also check out the Early Ford V8 Foundation Museum. I made a video of it as well.: ruclips.net/video/Sac0EROkrJk/видео.html Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Studebaker did not die, they didn't like the volatile auto manufacturers business so they left, they kept the Canadian production going to avoid class action lawsuits in the U.S.. They had a ton of money and made hundreds of millions from other businesses they owned right from the 50's, education is a bitch.
@13coyote13 Studebaker VEHICLE production in the United States was definitely as dead as Dillinger by 1964. I didn't mention the few years of production in Canada (or other countries). Larks with Chevrolet engines and no Champ production there didn't seem relevant. You are right about education though; let us all know when you get one.
Thank you so much! You’re a very smart man
@alex94293 LOL. I do my best. I hope the video helped. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
@ no thank you! Like you said the cheap one was 50-100, but the only store around here that sells them were no less than $150.00, or 50 dollars to rent for a day. I spent 7 dollars each on caulk guns from Menards and that worked perfect!
Do you have the stl available for this? I have a similar broken section I’d like to repair.
@mizer1981 Here you go - cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/fiero-rocker-panel-end-cap I put it in the description as well. It's pretty basic. Thanks for watching and the comment. Good luck!
@@smithmotorworks1969thank you so much!!! Printing now.
I had two of these back in the day. A white one just like that and a silver one
@stevebuckmaster13 That is awesome. The silver color scheme is my favorite. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Did you use spacers ?
@joeyvillarreal7281 no, I didn't. I the offset is near perfect for the AWD & 4WD axle width.
I got one love it
@rockyirwin9283 I definitely enjoy driving this one. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
What spark plug are you going to use? Resistor or non resistor? Bosch heat range 260 is what the manual calls for but I’m currently running a br8es that looks rich. Thanks
@1439of2000 I have a Champion CJ8 hooked up now only because there was an old one in there when I bought it. Bosch must've changed their heat range scale since then. It only goes from 2 -10 now. I don't see any reason to use a plug with a resistor. I haven't gotten to the point to see if the CJ8 is the right length even. I still have some carburetor work to do. Good luck and thanks for the comment and for watching!
I needed. More info on e brake lever and lunger pads n adjuster.
@timothyryan8390 exactly what is it you need to know?
What is the part number on the stator and where can I find one I’ve looked everywhere
@westonpandolfini7057 It looks like it's CEV 6826. I found that here: www.myronsmopeds.com/category/ignition/cev/ There's also a great Facebook group with a lot of experts that have connections to NOS, reproduction, and good used parts. facebook.com/groups/1930672223610656 I'd also highly recommend a service manual if you don't have one. Good luck. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Looks a lot like an Opel Monza simplyfied for the US market. GM-UK used the Firenza moniker for their 2-door coupe version of the Viva.
@janfswedane I agree. It looks like the Opel shares some styling cues with the US Monza and its variants. That Vauxhall is a sharp looking car. It reminds me of a baby 68-72 Nova, at least the side profile. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
@@smithmotorworks1969 Thanks... Have you seen the South African take on the Vauxhall Firenza..? Chevrolet CanAm... Built by GM in Port Elizabeth powered by a 302DZ Z-28 engine. It's beat the COPO cars by a mile in my opinion. Bob Lutz was CEO of Opel in 70ties so no wonder they raided part bins worldwide...
@janfswedane I just found out about the CanAm around a month ago. That thing is awesome. I wish they would have made more and brought it or something like it to the US!
If you need that cracked windshield repaired, let me know where you are and I'll forward a reputable glass tech to take care of it.
@periguin finding a replacement might be a problem. I'll eventually get there. :) Thanks for the offer, though. I appreciate it!
Absolutely loved my 1979 Firenza. The 305/4 spd combo was very quick for its time. Never lost to a Mustang of similar time frame. Probably one of the most comfortable seats & cockpit of any car I've owned. Thank you Oldsmobile! Excellent car for its time given the emissions control. Had a 283/350 HP ready on a stand to put in it, but found out the Torque Arm was already breaking the two bolts hold the arm to the front of the pig. Decided if it couldn't handle <200HP of the stock motor, it wouldn't be safe to drop in a 350 HP power plant. Probably my 2nd favorite car right behind my 1970 Challenger RT/SE w/383 Magnum. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! JR-Dallas
@periguin that sounds pretty awesome. I have wanted one for a while. I'm kind of an Oldsmobile guy, so it was a nice addition to my collection. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
The Munch Mammoth was a cool bike
@4thinternational283 For sure! I think Jay Leno has one in his collection. Thanks for watching and the comment!
What would have happened if Kawasaki had not released the Drifter in this form? I suspect that the successful return of the “Indian” motorcycle brand would not have taken place in this form either. Kawasaki has given a further boost with the Drifter models. That's why I see the Kawasaki Drifter as the midwife for the return of the “Indian” motorcycle brand. And at events, people should also stand by the Kawasaki brand, which has brought out a beautiful Drifter in the style of the 1940s. Without the Drifter models, the “Indian” motorcycle brand would certainly no longer exist today. Unfortunately, the “Victory” brand has suffered as a result. Polaris, the owner of both motorcycle brands, had discontinued the production of Victory motorcycles in order to increase and improve the sales figures of Indian.
@dennismundt7378 The Drifter was definitely the most successful design of the retro heavy cruiser era of motorcycles (Honda Shadow ACE and HD Heritage Springer Softail), IMO. I'm glad someone at Team Green had the guts to do it right! Thanks for the comment and for watching.
I have a 1960 Champ, all stock...plenty of parts and sheet metal out there to purchase. You should set your priorities in order...frame repair first, etc. If you need help, the Studebaker Club will help you with everything.
@ericcranston8158 I wish this one were in better shape and I would've tried to keep it original. It's just not a good candidate for a restoration, or even a parts vehicle, LOL. Thanks for the advice. I can fabricate most of what I need, but I will contact the club if I get stuck. Thanks again for the comment and for watching!
I seen about four or five different Drifters pop up on Facebook Marketplace this spring here in southern Missouri I bought one less than 2 weeks ago I'm having a lot of fun I've got 49 Mi on it now😅 and each ride was down a different country road that I'm familiar with where I hunt. I even went a couple miles down the gravel road to a remote place and took a swim and drink a couple beers, swam in a lake. I'm going to build a sissy bar in a cargo rack for hauling my Camp gear and hang my Gun,or bow on a sissy bar and or a fishing pole😊 got to have a place to put my stuff and it's got saddlebags on it to come off with some really nice brackets that come off the main frame. 😮 yesterday I customized and put my stainless steel face of Pontiac that came off of a 1940s Pontiac car and I took it off of a car when I was in my early twenties and now I'm almost 70 I customized it I mounted it on top of the handlebar risers with a leather pocket knife case on each side it looks great I'm going to put leather Fringe on the floorboards and maybe on the rear fender I'm having fun with it it sounds great it's got Vance and Hines exhaust with no baffles it's loud man
@markeverson5849 that sounds like a pretty awesome ride. I really like mine too. I just need to ride it more LOL! Thanks for sharing your story and for watching!
@@smithmotorworks1969 you're welcome yes this machine only had $5,400 Mi on it there was a beautiful 800 Drifter they came up for sale about a month or so ago just in Northern Arkansas about 100 miles from here it was beautiful I think it had about 10,000 Mi on it and it had the ostrich leather solo seat with matching fringed saddlebags I think a cargo rack in a sissy bar it was super sweet for 3000 that's what I paid for mine I couldn't pass it up but the one in Arkansas would have been an awesome buy too I just couldn't haul it
@markeverson5849 either one sounds like a great deal. It's difficult to pass those deals up, but I need another project like I need a hole in my head! Enjoy it!
You cannot buy anything for $0.50 today... Show me where I can get that switch for $0.50 🤔
@goneforever4659 not the switch, the knockout plug. This goes into more detail: ruclips.net/video/PUdnFz6UAaE/видео.html
I have a 1948 LT 35 propane powered. Comes in real handy around the shop, & when someone in the neighborhood needs a forklift delivery.
@greenmtnman7714 I know what you mean. I forget that I have it and start using the engine crane or muscling something around. LOL! Thanks for the comment and for watching!
What tire size is that?
@kylemckenzie517 They are 255/65 R16. I had the Corvette 255/50VR-16 tires on it originally. They just didn't fill out the wheel well as much as I'd like. Ideally something in-between the two would look the best. If I ever get around to lowering it, I might change them.
@@smithmotorworks1969 not 17’s
I have a 2004 2dr ls model 17x8.5 thought I would need spacers ?
@joeyvillarreal7281 see the above comment for the tires that I have used. They wheels are 16" diameter.
the chain, freaking brilliant idea. I'll be looking into that rocker texture spray next time I'm looking for that type of finish.
@JayL_80 I appreciate that! It definitely made me smile when I figured out it would work. The texture knocked the gloss down too, which made a huge difference. Thanks for watching!
Thank You for the great video. The mounting tab on one of my 300mm Diablo blades broke off in the recip saw the other day. First time for me and I was somewhat surprised. Although the blade has had a lot of use it still has plenty of life in it. And they are not that cheap here in Australia. I wondered whether it would be possible to cut a new mounting tip into the existing blade. And your tip confirms it is possible. Only problem for me is that I don't have a bench grinder. I do have an angle grinder so I might use that and some elbow grease with a diamond file. Cheers from the Land Down Under.
@karmicselling4252 Your angle grinder should probably work fine. I was concerned the blades would be too brittle and crack or chip. But, the material removal was easy. You might want to clamp it in a vise close to where your are grinding to keep it from flexing. I'm glad this helped you. Thanks for watching and the comment!
Great help 👍! Thanks!
@joeljeffery8704 Glad to help! Thanks for the comment and for watching.
Thanks. I hated tossing a good blade just because the tip always breaks easily. Appreciate you sharing.
@105tomo No problem. I'm glad it helped! Thanks for the comment and for watching!
If we could only see the history of people modifying and repairing that Kart , who knows how many hands have touched it ..early kart companies were all mom and pop any ways , sweet find .
@brentlopez-yg4yw I totally agree with you. I bet they had a cool story. I got them from an engineer that worked for me. They were her father's and uncle's when they were kids. Thanks for watching and for the comment!
@@smithmotorworks1969 In the early 80's i had a Bug super sprint kart with a yamaha kt 100 , the good old days , was fun
That's what I thought too. Its for home AC units. Thanks for posting. I almost bought one.
@mehatestaxes No problem. The crazy thing is that automotive tool companies sell these. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
From personal experience as a dealer technician, these have cast iron flanges and they almost fall apart unlike the aluminum spindles where you have to heat and beat forever due to aluminum corrosion
@dave1135 I definitely got lucky with this one. Thanks for watching and the comment!
I like what Kawasaki did for the 800 and 1500 Vulcan during the early 2000s. I even owned one and received a ton of compliments. The bike reminds me of my grandfathers 1952 road master he owned. I’d like to find a clean 800cc with low miles for my collection. Wish Kawasaki would bring it back. The Indian bringing brought back through many different companies isn’t the same. Way over priced and their idea of this crap blackout look sucks. Seems the Indian today is pledged with problems for its high price and fit and finish. All the skirted fender Indians were road masters a deluxe version back in the day The Scout was at the lower end in price and was not with skirted fenders. Check your facts. I’m just a simple collector that has to know what bikes are about. Kawasaki just made a better bike with very little issues at a fair price.
I agree. It would be nice if they made them again. You're right about the earlier Sport Scout models. The early 40s definitely had skirted fenders, though. nationalmcmuseum.org/2019/12/27/1941-indian-sport-scout-model-641/ Thanks for watching and the comment!
i love the skirted fenders ...have the 1500 and the 800...love the power of the 1500 but the 800 is more authentic looking and quite frankly more beautiful than the 1500 . both are fine bikes i also have a vulcan 1600 classic id trade for a 800 drifter tomorrow if anyone is interested. I hate the duel seat...its an abortion...but it is what it is. I ride on a solo saddle
I agree. I'd love to have the 1500's power with the 800's styling. Thanks for watching and the comment!
id trade my 1600 classic for another drifter any size@@smithmotorworks1969
Do it people to come will thank you. I have a bigger Chinese wheel that I had to build an exoskeleton to limit the flex, now I'm doing the same thing you have just done but on a larger scale. Your anvels are so much prettier than mine, I guess that will be the last job I have to perform.
@paulnewton943 I'm glad to help. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
Nice vid man I have towmotor model 462S my issue is that when I’m using my forklift in about 30 minutes it starts to loose power any idea what could it be
@Luna-dt1nt It's tough to say without more information. I'm not familiar with that model. I'd look at ignition components first (defective coil, condenser, etc.). Good luck and thanks for watching and the comment!
Bro, I Had the same car. It was like a Deep blue with flakes that shined in the sun.. . I also had the floor matts you have but in blue & had the matching pads to go on the seatbelts & seat covers with Neon Blue lights under the dash, Seats & vehicle.. These vehicles drive so beautiful. Fast too.. I miss it alot. I'm thinking about buying another.
@Luniz-5-On-it That color on your car sounds like it looked incredible. The body style is one that looks pretty great in any color, IMO. I am surprised at how much I like this car. Good luck on finding another one. They are out there. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
It's not RARE! *eye roll
@dubc73 1994 Cutlass Supreme production = 122,256 of which only 8,638 were convertibles. That's about 7%. What do you consider rare?
@@smithmotorworks1969 1,724 made in Red, Graphite interior, and Black top. The rarest color combo for a 94 would be Bright Aqua Metallic, Black top, and White interior. Only 4 were made.
@jiggity76 I love that Bright Aqua Metallic color and I'd take a white interior on anything. Thanks for the additional information!
Will the c4 sawblade wheels fit the 03 4x4 blazer without spacers or mods?
@savionsmith7418 I'm not sure about that one. I suspect that they would need a spacer for at least the front. It's pretty tight with the ones on there now. I haven't got any of those to try or I would give you a definite answer. Thanks and good luck!
If only the fenders were steel...
@gcanaday1 yeah, I agree. I understand, though. I imagine the cost to tool them for a low production bike would've blew their budget. When it was fairly new, I had considered getting reproduction Indian fenders and altering them to fit. Oh well, at least these won't rust. Thanks for the comment and for watching!
@@smithmotorworks1969 Ain't nothing like a good fab project to get the blood flowing...

@daniellatimer1876 I'm jealous! That would be awesome. I've always wanted to see the Futurliner when it gets out for parades. Thanks for watching and for the comment.
Mr Smith, HELP... I'm assembling my 106SS.. Looking at the coil on your other video it has 2 wires attached FROM THE COIL going to the flywheel wire cluster. Shouldn't one of the coil conections just be a ground to the frame??? PLEASE ADVISE / THANKS!
@user-lb6xb6ud7d my wiring harness is pretty damaged. But looking at the diagram, there should be two wires on one terminal (magneto and on/off switch) and one terminal with a wire to ground. The ground may be marked "AL". I bought a service manual reprint from here: www.searsallstateriders.com/store/part/808.895401.html It is worth it just for the wiring diagram. But, you might be able to find one elsewhere on the internet. Good luck!
Good luck on finding them flairs for that car. Whats even more rare then this car and even the Chevrolet Monza Mirage was the Buick Roadhawk, they even had the Oldsmobile GT models etc.
