It's organ changeover time at the Tower Ballroom Blackpool and this clip shows a very close up shot of John Bowdler rising up on the mighty Wurlitzer Organ for another session of dancing at the famous Tower Ballroom. This clip was shot from on the stage next to the organ pit and not from the balcony.

Blackpool Tower Ballroom organist John Bowdler plays live for dancing at the Queens Hotel Llandudno North Wales, on Friday 31st January 2014 performing music for a 'Melody Foxtrot' sequence dance on the Technics GA3. Note he is using the Blackpool Tower Ballroom Wurlitzer sampler as he plays to create the ultimate 'Blackpool' sound.

Nice playing and nice organ sounds, this is a relax way to play music it's different than play a complex music like a concert pianist because they can not looking over the shoulders and enjoy the party... I now because I play both piano and organ... 😀👍
Exactly but when organists do concerts , they are not looking over their shoulder , even John bowdler . Ballroom dance and concert are two different things . Most people at ballroom dances just chat away if they don't dance and are not absorbing the music like concerts , like chalk and cheese

I prefer Phil Kelsall and Reginald Dixon for one reason. John tends to not use deep bass pedal notes - would I be right in saying he uses 8 foot stops rather than a 16 foot stop. Just doesn't sound so good.
john plays more to the reg dixon style than phil kelsall much better in my opinion
@@ianhead9477 you should really get to one of Phil kelsalls concerts and you will more than likely have a change of mind about this. John is a fantastic organist, however when I've been to John's concerts he's a million miles away from the standard of Phil kelsall and he brings the house down. We all have our favourite players of course but I've heard Phil K emulate Reg Dixon style of playing at concerts and he certainly is on a par with him 😉
@jacquelinebishop8465 I read these comments with interest, and I believe John Bowdler plays very much like Ernest Broadbent, who never seems to get a mention by Tower organ fans? John plays with very chrisp registrations, while if you listen ,Phils are very creamy and soft to the most part! But whatever, thankfully, not all these organists are happy just to copy a style!
