Nah man starting it today
is there a way to make a system reset
what do we talk about for activity 6?
He will be uploading it very soon…. It’s been a year 😂😂. Talk about your code and circuit. Issues and how you resolved then show that it is working and explain where the inputs and outputs are. Explain the indicators and unexpected event. That’s pretty much it tbh
hi please how does the NEXTION HMI work in flow code
Can you use the annotation system in flowcode instead of annotating on the document?
You can, but you need to make sure it's clear on the submitted document. All of the best examples I've seen have had the annotations elsewhere. The main thing is that you need to use technical language, and show a good understanding of what you're doing
Hi new subscriber here, just discovered this channel today, it helped me a lot in my work, and preparation, it would be really helpful if you post all the other activities in one video .Thanks
Hi! That's something I plan to do once I get activity 6 recorded. Still trying to figure out the best way to do that, though
man i still failed after watching this, you fake as hell cuh
I really enjoyed watching this pog video 😜😜
Poggers!
What are industry standard conventions beacuse i don't think i used them in my exam i used technical terminology meaning taking about variable components macro, initial value (255 - turn all the led on 0 - turn of the light) and etc in my activity 3 Will i get marks for only using technical terminology and no industry standard convention
Hello i believe i done my specifications wrong in my exam i talk about what the client ask us to do as well as talking about why i would use certain hardware in my exam such as LCD, LED, SWITCHES For example LED represent the light LCD - describe What is happening in the background Switches - turn on or off the light And two unexpected events - user error and power cut My question is will i get band 1 mark scheme for this section or higher bearings in mind i did over 5 test plan
can you still get marks for only completing the test plan beacuse i didn't do a qualitative evaluation
Yes, definitely. Don't worry too much about that :)
I talk about components macro, variables and initial values in my activity 3 is that ok I talk about my hardware (got a image and label the port connection) but the description is integrated in my program saying this part of the program plan should do that when the user press a certain switch this would turn on the lights using LED bored and describe what is happening on the LCD display (position of the motor) on the mark scheme it says technical languages i am hoping talking about macros, variable and initial values will help me achieve that but i got a feeling my plan is incorrect also What is industry standard conventions (activity 3) beacuse idk if i talk about them / some in activity 4 I have working programs but didn’t talk about macros and variables due to them being in my plan (activity3 ) I only talk about what this section of the program does when a certain switch is pressed Can i still get 3-4 marks for this without any technical languages just describing each part of my program No images of the hardware was included just the program Also Activity 5 I only fill out the test plan I didn’t do the evaluation does that mean I get 0 mark or could I still get some marks bearing in mind I have 7 test plan could I still get like 1 mark with actual and justifications fill out In your opinion do you think for both activity 4 and 3 that I am cap at band 1 on the marks scheme My project logs (activity 1) i did not include dates so what happens to me for that section 0 marks or am i capped at Band 1 mark scheme i also did 5 logbooks one for each activity Gantt Chart was also created Just hoping for a Near pass in your opinion are there any activity that i have mentioned that will get zero marks or will i at least get some marks for it
There's a lot to reply to here, but from what you've described I would be surprised if you got a low mark. Good luck!
From what you've described you should be OK on both of those points
@@showyourworking9800 can you confirm that my activity 3 is ok would be enough for bank 1 mark scheme or higher
Do you have a tutorial on how to set up two sensors on a single system? The system we're doing requires a light sensor and for the unexpected results I require to have two working sensors so if only one is covered the program does not carry on
can you do this activity without actually doing any testing? will you get marks for just saying what you did and fill out actual results just guessing/pretending?
I don't see what benefit you would have from not carrying out any actual testing. You test 'naturally' as part of the build process (or you should, at least).
@@showyourworking9800 yes you're right, but i was just asking in case i wasn't able to do any hardware or coding. would i still get the 9 marks for just filling out i did it? thanks again

Hello i recently did my exam in January, seemed like a fairly straight forward exam, did everything it asked wrote around 4000-5000 words but i got a pass. i was very surprised because i thought i would at least get a merit but to be fair i didn't finish task 5 and i kinda feel like i messed up task 6. im resitting next month any tips on how i can do better
Hi! The exam really wants you to answer in a particular way. If you haven't done so already, I recommend looking over some of my other videos when I go in deep on each part of the exam. Other than that, I'd say take a look at the mark scheme (it's the same every year) to see what you need to get done for each section. It's very much a box ticking exercise for a lot of the exam, especially for the lower to middle marks
@@showyourworking9800 ok will do thanks a lot, got my exam next Monday and Tuesday hopefully I do better.
Thank you my brother, best on youtube! I'd appreciate if you had the remaining 5 and 6 on your channel, but it is still very good anyway!
Yeah, hoping to get something out this weekend :)
Thanks! Do you know if it is fine if I write my comments in the flowcode comments rather than using a textbox in word?
This is an odd one. When first looking at the exam, this is what I assumed they wanted. However, after looking into the full requirements, and the reports from previous years exams, I think they'd prefer to do it the way I showed here. I don't think you can easily get the detail needed using Flowcode's comments
I passed my HND in electronic engineering back in 1999 and back then there wasn't a module for microcontrollers but interestingly enough, I explored the idea of using PICs to control a laser but the cost was prohibiting, seems as though I missed out :-)
I think learning about it in this way is a really good intro to programming skills. The exam isn't the best format, though!
Nice work dude there's some good stuff to take away. Well done. Suggestion how about using Flowcode to write a routine to sample the mains voltage to look for missing pulses or dips in the supply that ought to keep you busy for some time :-) Thanks again for your efforts they are much appreciated
Thanks! I think I need to do a video on analogue inputs, as it took me longer to work out than I'd like to admit!
will you make activity 5 in the near future?
5 and 6 should be out before the next exam :)
Thank you for making these videos! I do think i have a chance of passing this unit with the massive help your videos have provided. Quick question, Would it be possible to achieve a distinction in this unit without the coding? Coding had been on of the hardest things I've done this year. Not blaming covid for my bad decisions but i do believe its a contributors to my lack of knowledge in this course, that being said you have helped me massively thank you!!
I'm pleased it's helping! Programming can be difficult, but I find it helps to break it down into VERY basic steps. Get one bit working. Save your file. Change something. Save your file to another version. Add something else and so on. It would be INCREDIBLY difficult to get a distinction without any working code, although, arguably, not impossible. However, if you can get a very basic version working, and the rest of your write up is perfect, it becomes a lot easier. In the example shown here with the taxi calculator, I would probably focus on just getting something that counts up in 20p working first, then, if you can add anything to that, take it a step at a time. Good luck!
Explained in a better way. Thank you
Thanks! It means a lot
Just want to say your vids have been really helpful for me , as I am currently taking my exams this week , I been watching your videos day by day and from your vids I have been making a time plan on what question I will do on what day , just got a question though , could I pass even if I don’t do any coding or build a circuit , just do activity 1,2,3 to the max and try achieve as many marks on them 3 activities ? Would that be possible ?
Thanks for the kind words. A pass is usually around 24 marks. The first 3 sections come to 35 marks, so this is certainly possible, but not recommended. When programming your device, if you're not confident, focus on getting something that works a little bit than trying to get something that does everything. For example, in this system you might first focus on a system that counts up by 20p every 20 seconds first, and then see if you can add to that. This will then allow you to access the marks in the second part of the exam, making a pass easier and the higher marks achievable. Good luck!
Your videos are really helpful. When do you think you'll be able to upload activity 5 and 6? I have my exam this week. Thank you!!
It's unlikely to be this week, unfortunately
@@showyourworking9800 No worries, thank you!

Activities 1-4 are up already :) I need to put them into a playlist , though
simple counter + adding loops merging the product like production pairs.
Sorry, is this something you'd like to see?
is this for the first part of activity 1?
Yes
For activity 2 of the exam, writing the specification, would you recommend using ACCESS FM to creat a specification? Or would that not be appropriate for this exam?
It's probably useful to think about the ideas behind ACCESS FM but a lot of the points (such as material) are not important here. You're designing a digital system here, not a physical product. Focus on the function of the device
ruclips.net/video/nhTrfq1JoUk/видео.html Also, I cover the specification here, if you haven't seen :)
In the code when it’s pausing the journey. There’s nothing for an input of end. In the code you need to unpause before you end. Is there a way to get out of that decision and go straight out of the loop?
Good spot. As with many things in coding, there are many ways to do this. The way I would personally do this myself is have another variable called pause. When you press the pause button it will swap it between 0 and 1. When the variable is 1, the timer won't count but it will still check for inputs, so you can unpause (change it to 0) or stop the timer. I hope that makes sense!
Please put more videos on flowcode you work is great
Thanks! What would you like to see?
Could you do an egg timer
I don't put up solutions to past exams. This video should give you a good base, though
Unlucky lad
When you say sessions what do you mean? Is it the number of days that you are doing the exam in? Because I'm supposed to be doing the exam over two days so would I have just 2 session?
It depends on how your day is structured. Will your day be split into multiple sessions? Like a morning and afternoon session? In that case you'll have at least 4
@@showyourworking9800 how would u make a table for 4 sessions
You should be able to look at what is shown in the video and create something more like what you will be working :)

talks too fast, mouse movements too fast. can't keep up. And i've programmed counters in C++ so I know the code.
Thanks for the constructive feedback. I'll assume it wasn't intended to be as rude as it might be read by some people. When capturing the screen, I didn't realise cursor capture wasn't enabled, but I enable it in my videos now. Hopefully that helps with the cursor speed. I assumed that when watching videos like this that people would pause, and repeat, sections of the video that they didn't quite get, like I do when watching other videos, but maybe I'm wrong there! Is there anything that you'd like to see from these videos?
@@showyourworking9800 I’m struggling in this unit alot and have the exam on the 14th January. The main part I struggle in is the flowcode section
There are a few videos up with examples of code. The main thing to remember is that you don't need perfect code. Just get as much working as you can and focus on the rest of the exam
This unit is really horrendous for students that have had 2 years disrupted teaching from covid. I'm struggling preparing my cohort to the point I think I will need to resign my post, despite been confident in programming, the learners just haven't developed the organisational skills and under pinning knowledge due to 2 lockdowns and years of school closures. Have you had a cohort sit the exam yet? How did they get on?
I really dislike it being an exam. I think it adds a lot of logistical hurdles that are completely unnecessary. It is a great unit, though. That said, it's possible to get good marks pretty easily in the exam if you know how to answer the exam. You don't even need to be able to program particularly well (for better or worse). I'm pretty sure I could get an average student to pass the exam with just a week off instruction. With the exam being split over multiple sessions, students can check their notes between sessions, too
@@showyourworking9800 That's true, the content is good and flexible. It's a shame it will be obsolete in the next year or so after investing in the creation of support material and resource development. I hope the marking is adaptive to the difficulties.
