Excellent version of a tune that is often played too fast by folks who are not up to the task. Country gents, Larry Sparks, a few others “get it” this is just so delightfully different! I saw Keith Whitley twice with Ralph Stanley, he could put the hammer down with the best of them but, here I think he really allows his amazing voice to shine!!
Most of the time, the passing of Keith Whitley makes me so sad. Sometimes, however, it makes me mad as hell. Why did he have to die? Can you imagine how much farther his career would've went? He was already an all-time great. It breaks my heart even today.
@@mikejones6486 I've been pickin bluegrass since the early 70's, and have been following Keith's career since that same time. While he was an upstanding young man, he did have a dependency on alcohol, that and having a wife that was laying up with half the men in Nashville, was, I guess, to much to bear. R.I.P. Keith, you will be missed. 😔
James Castle ROFL!!!!!!! Who in the sam hill are Sparks n Duffey?????????????? You must mean separately, because those names were never together in any semblance of bluegrass music. If you are in some way referring to the existence of some recording between Larry Sparks & John Duffey, you must be as drunk as a fly swimming in a 55 gallon drum of mash. Larry Sparks & John Duffey very likely, couldn't have gotten along well, if they'd ever been in the same room for very long.....................much less recording anything together. LOL P.S. Keith Whitley could sing "Grimm's fairy Tales" & make you believe they were REAL!!!!!!! John Duffey & Larry Sparks are two of my favorites, but Keith was in an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT LEAGUE!!!!!!!

The knee jerkers will say a Hank.🎵 The snooty folks will say a Towns.🎵 The real ones say this this 👆
Keith Whitley krásný zpěv, nejlepší jaký jsem kdy slyšela ❤ miluji jeho hlas
Can anyone tell me if I can get this performance on cd??

This recording is a revelation. I've had Dark Hollow on the back burner, now I'm going to try it Keith's way!
Is this version on cd?
@@tomswink819 Nope.
@@commontater8630 it is now!! For me anyway.thanks.
This song is great at a slow pace like this!
For sure!
Keith was always his best singing bluegrass 👍🏻

He couldn’t be helped. Had his stomach pumped so many times, overdosed countless times. 34 is actually a long time for how he drank.
@@tommytwomommy Do you have evidence for this? I'm not wanting to question you, I love him and hope it's not true

One of the Greats
It seems that our Lord sends for the truly great ones like Keith early to be with him
He called Carter home early too.
Oh bull.
Amazing man! Love him so much!❤
Smooth I mean smooth vocals! Wish he was still with us
God sent voice. Gives me chills listening to keith sing them lonesome ol songs. R.I.P to a legend
He was the best...I love him
Damn I miss Keith Whitley

Why in the world was this left off of the live album?
Sparks n Duffey were better on this un too dern slow. Crowe’s fault no doubt.

So so great rip
Great music from the best! RIP KW!
I hate alcohol now.. clarence white was hit by a drunk driver at 29 and keith left at 34..
Don't hate the alcohol, hate what turned someone to alcohol.
Alcohol doesn't hurt anyone. It's the man or woman that partakes in it too much.
