Tennessee Knock Out 2022 Race 1 - Starting on the front row!
What an experience it was to start on row 1, we were the center of attention! I finished 16th overall racing at a somewhat conservative pace to save some energy for race two.
The camera angle is not the best, I really dislike the chest mount, but AMA has banned helmet mounted cameras.

Hells Hollow - Super Steep Hard Enduro

This is a hard enduro line know as "Hells Hollow". Its part of Brushy Mountains Battle of the Goats race, and is known for being extremely steep requiring lots of switchbacks to navigate. Watch me fight my way through various obstacles and bottlenecks, after starting behind from a bad qualifying round. Unfortunately, the AMA banned helmet cameras in races. This is my first time using the chest mount and the angle was not ideal. I'm hoping to make some tweaks to my mounting location for future race videos.

Crawling up Chutes and Ladders

This hard enduro section is known as chutes and ladders. Located at Brushy Mountain, its named after the large wall (chute) and steep ramp (ladder) it features. The wall is right around 7 ft tall at the highest spot and has a hard rock landing at the bottom, i find this to be the most challenging and intimidating part. I got a chance to race the 2020 Sasquatch Challenge at Doe Mountain. This is the second time I've been able to ride at Doe Mountain, it's a great place to ride. Trail conditions were a touch on the slick side but really good. I 2nd that comment request, what camera is that you're using? That's the absolute best footage I've seen in a long time for any action sports type camera. A mountain still looks like a mountain, instead of typical GoPro fisheye lenses and cell phone camera lenses making them look like a little mellow hill... Not to mention the absolute crystal clear image quality.
It’s actually a GoPro hero 7 black. I make sure to process my videos in high quality and have played with the settings some on the camera. I think the location of the camera, under my visor, also helps.

How is it down there lot of flowy stuff like this? Was gonna do Buffalo mountain but this seems like more dirt and more our style thanks
There’s a good mix of everything at brushy. Plenty of good flowing single track. Check out the enduro trail if you’re looking for more good flowing trail at brushy, I’ve got a video of it up. I’ve been to buffalo also and have some videos of it posted. You won’t be disappointed with either.
maybe 300 rr would be better?
The 200rr has very useable power without putting you in sketchy situations that having lots of power can. This race was about finding traction and more power doesn’t help then. That said there’s a reason pros use 300’s, but I am far from pro.

Rob Clifford it’s hard for me to explain exactly where it is but it’s not far from the office. Ask the guys at the office when you and they can tell you the best way to get there.

Good job! Love that kind of stuff, looked like a blast. Your friend pulled a dick move though, you made it most of the way up that tough spot, he could have pulled your front tire to help with that last bit but he just watched them rode off
Mike Christian we’ve tried that in this spot before and it’s really hard to grab someone’s tire without getting pulled off the ledge. Better of just letting the bike go. Besides I feel more accomplished when I get it myself.
That is how I plan to get through there if I make it that far at BOTG's. Crazy how steep that ladder is in real life

That's some nice flowing trail! I've got Brushy on my bucket list this year. Going to the Redbird Crest Trail first of June.
9C is an excellent flowing trail. Definitely get out to Brushy its one of the best places to ride in the southeast.

Charlotte is very convenient to Brushy, I wish I was that close.
I'm no stranger to running tires that have 30 hours on them in races and like you said just hurts you lol, be times im all over the place people just ride right past me. I'm going to run the m5b rear next i have a medium starcross in the front now it's ok in OH. Good ride man enjoyed the video.
I felt like an idiot for not getting new tires. I spent so much time fighting that second hillclimb because of it.

I love the 200rr! It’s nimble and torquey. I’m a much faster rider on it than I was on my previous bikes.
Robert Rips Awesome. I’m in the 190lb range, you think I would be too heavy for it?
Stuart Voigt it definitely has the power to move you. You’d be pushing the limits of the stock suspension set up but that’s the case with any bike.

EFM AUTOCLUTCH Brushy mountain and brown mountain are the two best places to go in NC. There’s also doe mountain in Tennessee not far from the border. Whenever you do make it down here we should ride!

David Smith I’m not completely sure what happened to the other rider. It was tight, there were lots of roots, and a little off camber. He must’ve just got thrown off his line into the tree.

David Smith I ride a 2019 beta 200rr. It’s a fantastic bike. I was racing 250/open C 20-29. It’s a beginner class, no bike restrictions for riders 20-29 years old.

Watch out for the metal spikes, 1:40, just left of the fender. Hard to see but the shadow reveals it's there, right in the trail. The others are out of the way
Oh we saw them. That's part of the reason I said it was sketchy. If i remember correctly, they had a washer or something welded to the top to make them a little safer.
I just SMASHED that like button, as the youtubers say. Looks fun definitely need to make it out there.
