Cowherd himself is a hypocrite in that department so whatever. At the end of last season a big topic of conversation amongst Dolphins fans was the idea of making a free agent offer to LJ. I, myself, was a big fan of Tua coming out of college and favored him over Herbert. That was with the assumption the GM would be Hellbent on putting a big, bad, 1st class offensive line in front of him. Instead, the protection Tua got for two (now three) straight seasons was miserable. It led him to carry out a self-aided concussion against Green Bay in 2022 which got parlayed into a hide and seek job from his team's management and medical staff to a self-reported concussion directly to the NFL offices in New York to a free pass to sit out the last two games of the year signed by Commissioner, Roger Goodell while his team fought to secure a playoff spot without him. It was not a surprise to hear he called an emergency family meeting to discuss never returning to the game. Or at least the Dolphins. Can you blame him? So that led I to the idea of going after Lamar Jackson, a south Florida boy. Although, I never really thought he'd seriously consider leaving Baltimore, Miami would be foolish not to at least make a real offer and see what happens. I think Lamar Jackson is and was quite superior to Tua and worth rethinking your roster building plans over. Many in Fin nation agreed but there are a few, and one in particular, loud mouth who spewed venom on those of us who dared prefer LJ over Tua. The thing with me was this. I had zero confidence in Chuckles the GM assembling even an adequate offensive line before this season began and I was right; which really brought to light the question of Tua or Lamar. Could McDaniel have been able to do more with the offense with Lamar's mobility and not been constricted to design every play with a QB release time of sub 1.9 seconds? Tua put up good numbers with a lot of explosive plays and we won more games than I expected but we had countless botched plays because of the frantic pace; turnovers, rushed QB misfires, mistiming between receiver and QB, dropped passes and aborted plays when the first progression produced not an available target. The better the opponent, the more of these botched plays we produced. When opening day came around and the Dolphins rolled out always injured LT, Terran Armstead, oft injured, failed Left and Right Tackle Isaiah Wynn at LG, the erratic snapping Connor "Wild Thing" Williams at Center, Robert Hunt at RG and failed LT, LG Austin "Tangled legs" Jackson at RT, it was obvious this offense would have no ability to function or execute any aspect of an NFL offense in any kind of traditional way. And so, as they lived by this sword, they died by this sword. Lamar Jackson would not have been better off with Miami but I'm certain Miami would have been better off with Lamar...until his O line got him killed, anyway.
