While I"m not a big fan of your skill at giving directions, the build is simple enough to follow, and the end result is pretty great. Verbal clarity is about a 5/10. Visual clarity is 7/10. Design is 8/10. Aesthetics 6/10. Could just mute the vid and put it at 2x speed and build it pretty efficiently. Succinct is success.

Please read this before building. Im running Java version 1.21.0.3. So if yours isnt working and you dont know why its because for some reason a crucial detail that this video and most of mob spawners omit is that it needs to be either 128 blocks off the ground or in the middle of the ocean to work. In Java enemies will spawn 128 blocks around you, if you build this on land or on and island like I did most of those mobs will spawn underground in caves you cant see or all around you at night and not in your spawner. In other words, your character needs to be in a place where the only thing within 128 blocks of you is the spawner or mobs will find another place to spawn. They can spawn in the spawner but the more places they can spawn in that 128 block radius, the less will be in your spawner. The further you are off the ground or out to deep ocean the better. Personally im going to try to light up everything in sight of my spawner but if that doesnt work ill probably build way out at sea and setup train tracks to go out there when I want to. I went in to test this in creative mode and if you START to build this 128 blocks off the ground it works pretty well, however you need to be up in the sky with it. Im guessing the maker of this video wasnt aware of this and got lucky by building it above a deep water valley and probably had the land nearby well lit already, This would work best during the day but still not great. He is right though, it works great in sky block. Edit : I ended up building scaffolding along one of the widest corners till I was +118 on the y coordinates using F3. I wanted to make sure I was still in range of the chests so they didnt despawn, depending on your biome (at night) you can actually see the mobs on the surface despawn as you go up. I also made my tower a few blocks taller than the design because I just wanted loot and didnt care for the XP so they would all die on impact. When I went down to check I found them raining down and a decent loot pile already. If youre willing to AFK this can still be used with my addition. If your base if its pretty close you might be able afk in it but the whole structure needs to be within 128 blocks of you, I wouldnt go further than +100 blocks away at surface level of the center or mobs will despawn but again, this is gonna be pretty slow since mobs will spawn in caves under you. If you have it set to not kill you need to check in on it before you leave base or again, no mobs when you get back.

It works fine day or night, just place full blocks everywhere and make 5+ layers. Make sure its pitch black inside. Farm needs a few minuites to warm up before monsters drop. If you leave chunk, spawns will stop. If there's a lot of monsters around your base it will not work. Build above water.

Barely works and only at night

Works but in the new update the zombies die at 22 blocks so I had to shorten the farm but it only seems to work at night for some reason

9:20 "if you get close to the edge, they can hit you" just add a horizontal trap door to the bottom of the bottom 2 blocks on the chute, and you will be able to swing through the gap in total safety. Also, do the water canals 2 wide instead of 3 for maximum effectiveness. Great job explaining it in simple terms anyone can understand.
