Tj Voelker Art
Добавлен 10 июл 2013
I’m a self taught pencil artist. I've been creating art since I retired in 2009. I'm 67 now and just starting a RUclips channel. I love to share tip and tricks for drawing, that I've learned over the years, plus I don't mind sharing how I achieve certain things with my work.
I'm also a dog lover and care giver. You'll no doubt see my dogs from time to time.
I love encouraging other people to step out and do things they dream of doing. I'm hoping my channel will inspire someone else to start something new, even if you are an older person.

Partial Studio Tour
I’ve decided to go ahead and show you my partial studio tour. It's really more about where I store stuff.
I haven’t finished putting everything away and I still have to tackle the closet, but here is what I have for now.
I’ll do an update once it’s all done.

Unboxing my new Earthberry pastels

I just got these pastels from Russia. They’re called Earthberry and they were a recommendation from @monetcafe *Please excuse the fact that the video is backwards. I'm new at this stuff. earthberrypastels.com/
My favorite way to sharpen my pastel pencils.

How I use my Høvel brand sharpener on my pastel pencils. If you've ever tried to sharpen pastel pencils, you know it can be a bear. I also use a box knife, but this is my favorite tool and I find it very relaxing.
I found KUM german made two step pencil sharpener I love and gets real sharp points
Do you use it for pastel pencils? I'll have to check that out.
@@TjVoelkerArt never tried pastels, but I watched your studio tour it was awesome and I loved your pencil collection and organization
@@rebeccaduggansartboard812 thanks so much! I appreciate it. I have several sharpeners that work well and that I like for my colored and graphite pencils. I've found that the pastel pencils crumble or break if you try a regular pencil sharpener.
I work from home and I've done streaming of my other business and crafts (Modern Day Mercantile) we live in a small house so I'm using a portion of our living room as an office and studio. We don't have a Good Housekeeping home since I have my studio in the front room - LOL - works for us. Have to make the most of what is available. I have 2 studio assistants too.
I'm with you! We have to use what we have and as my mentor says, as long as you have a dedicated space, no matter if it's a closet, it's essential for creating on a regular basis. One day maybe we will have a big studio, huh? Until then, we can find creative ways to store our supplies. It makes me feel good to have a place of my own, even if I have to give it up if we have company.
When you finish maybe you’d like to do mine?
Sure! Bring it on over.
Sweet little muffin!
She's definitely my little cuddle bug.
I like it!
You're the best! Thank you.
Does it have a container that catches the shavings?
Yes, it does! It's the little cork base you see there. It's cool because it holds the sharpener in place and catches the shavings as well.
Hi, Just ordered some myself. Can't wait to get mine. Thanks for this! I'll keep mine separate too.
Oh yay!!! Let me know how you like them. It was fun getting them all the way from Moscow.
Can’t wait to see what you create with them!
@@tmrudd100 thank you, sister! I'll be sure to show you.
