Whale Watching Cruise - Gold Coast - Australia
G'day,
Come and join on a whale watching cruise on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. Whale watching cruises run from the start June through to the end of October. We've bee out with a number of different whale watching companies on the Gold Coast and they were all very good, though you never know how active the whales will be on a particular day. We chose Kokomo Cruises this time as we liked the look of their vessel being lower to the water line than some so good for video and photography. Don't forget to check out my images at the end of the video. Got some crackers if I don't say myself.
Cheers
Brian

G'day, We spent two beautiful day's at Kinabatangan. In total we have 4 boat cruises. Magical place that I can highly recommend. We stayed at The Last Frontier Boutique Hotel and as it's only a 4 room property, we mostly shared our river cruise with only one other couple. Cheers Brian

    I left my large lens on the private hire mini bus we had just went in with my 50mm & small binoculars it was plenty.. My daughter ended up with a hammerhead worm crawling on the back of her pants a couple of minutes in just before we got to the 1st feeding platform.. Definitely loved the indoor viewing room the air conditioner was greatly appreciated that day 😂😂..

    Hi, great videos and impressive photography, probably in very challenging environments! We are heading back to Borneo in Sept. and you mentioned having a night vision/infra red video camera was a must have. What model did you have and would you recommend it?

    • @TheWildlifeFanatic
      @TheWildlifeFanatic 28 дней назад

      Night vision/infrared was used for night tours in Deramakot Forest Reserve. Definitely would not have got a lot of the night video without out the video camera especially animals at a distant. Canon XA70. You will can see a lot of the footage in our Deramakot(Borneo) Videos. Very easy to handle as well as my partner changed from doing the video with a DSLR and long lens to the Canon Video Camera with internal zoom. Close up with a good spotlight you can simply change to normal colour videography. Thanks for watching.

    At 55,000 hectares Deramakot may be too small to sustain clouded leopards long term. They are estimated to need at least 75,000 hectares to support them.

    Our roving naturalist has stumbled on another hidden gem. My sources have also led me to this reserve Did you consider Wilpattu NP? Could you please indicate who was your Safari TO for this trip?

    • @TheWildlifeFanatic
      @TheWildlifeFanatic 4 месяца назад

      Did consider Wilpattu but decided on advice and not wanting the extra travel with only a week to stick to Kumana. Good decision from after being there. We were only seeing 5 to 6 other vehicles a day while in the park. Thanks for the reminder, I've put our Safari Operator and Arugam Bay Accommodation details in the description. Basically, our accommodation organised transfers from Colombo hotel to Arugum Bay return and the safaris. Brian

    why did you choose to go here instead of danum valley? Danum has a observation tour for sunrise, river swimming and good wildlife as well. Regards, from Alex :)

    • @TheWildlifeFanatic
      @TheWildlifeFanatic 6 месяцев назад

      Because Deramakot has more sightings of Sunda Clouded Leopard than any other reserve in Borneo(and possibly the world) and it's also cheaper than Danum. Also the road less travelled where you can have the whole forest to yourself. We had 7 hours of private vehicle safari in Deramakot. Also, the Reserve that is known for sightings of all 5 Bornean predatory cats.

      IIRC Danum has the same set of wildlife but the night drives there are far worse run, so sightings (of not just clouded leopards but nocturnal mammals in general) are far rarer.

      All game drives and meals included. Alcoholic drinks are separate but they are cheap in South Africa, even at safari lodges.

    Neither the highly mobile S8 Imbali until November 6 2023 NOR the TWO HEALTHY and highly mobile TALAMATI BREAKAWAYS lLIONESSES who also got suddenly sick, exhibiting EXACTLY THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS S8, deteriorated quickly and died in 48-72 hours (one in April 2023 and the other June 2023) showed ANY (NONE) of the following symptoms of either bTB (chronic or rapid progressive- which are by the way the EXACTLY the symptoms AND Do NOT have or mimic any dramatic symptoms of poisoning witnessed and described before the Sabi Sabi Authorities’ usual official pre scripted explanations): the signs of bTB include emaciation, poorly healing skin lesions, swollen joints and limbs, lameness, blindness, and eventuating in anorexia. They did show symptoms that are consistent with poisoning: from highly mobile to suddenly stationary, vomiting, lip smacking and lip licking and white foaming saliva on his lips, very stiff body posture, arched back, hunging down the head, salivating, initially always looking like trying to vomit/expel (present if poison ingested by especially), difficulty walking, sitting, getting up, loss of muscle coordination, excessive thirst, suffering for 48-72 hours and dying etc and described by every one who first witnessed it as looking poisoned, ate something bad, or snake bite, one guide to give him imodium. Could have been from poacher poison laced pray but based on the exact symptoms the S8 and the 2 Talamati breakaways lionesses exhibited, it is highly consistent they got primary or secondary poisoning from a kind of poison lodges place to get rid of rats (but this is a conservancy so they should be held liable as they should know how to handle rodent problems at the lodges without risking wild life dying of primary or secondary poisoning OR not be allowed to have lodges if lodge presence is affecting and killing wild life). There is absolutely nothing random about 3 adult members of this pride to dying in 48-72 hours from same symptoms and the 4 one to gets snared and gets inadequate care as usual without a smidgen of of thought and effort to at least reunite her with her 1.8 months old kidz who can’t hunt in their own and watching kidz huddled and eating sticks and loosing body mass and mom missing each-other 2 full weeks thereafter until the kidz got so skinny and weak that afterwards they were reunited, the S8 got poisoned and died, the lioness not healed properly to have strength to hunt bigger pray - the kidz continued to loose muscle mass and don’t have strength to help mom now). All could have been prevented if there was meaningful coordinated and competent effort with intent of successful outcome. Neither the S8 Imbali nor the 2 Talamati breakaways lionesses had following symptoms of SEPSIS: * loss of consciousness * severe breathlessness * a high temperature (fever) or low body temperature * a change in mental state - like confusion or disorientation * cold, clammy and pale or mottled skin * a fast heartbeat * fast breathing * chills and shivering * severe muscle pain * feeling dizzy or faint * diarrhoea
