I often hear about Uncle Remus being racist. I worked in nursing homes with elderly Black patients. When they wanted tapes to listen to, they requested Uncle Remus and Amos and Andy. It was just funny entertainment and no one was offended .

I had this book as a kid and it haunted my memories to this day.

This may seem odd...but there is a version of 'Jungle Book' that I can't find. I grew up in Japan... my grandfather recorded masses of stories and tales from various sources onto reel-to-reel for me to listen to. One of them was a version of 'The Jungle Book' I have never been able to find or locate. It was another Disney 'spoken tales' style. I don't know who the voice actor was.. but he told the story from Mowgli's perspective.. He killed Shere-Khan with a stampede of buffalo. Mowgli remarks when finding him asleep in the ravine "Fool.. FOOL... eaten and drunk too" before driving the herd into the ravine Any ideas?

My mom bought this for me when I wanted it from the Scholastic Book Fair even though it was somewhat pricey and she was already working 2 jobs to take care of us 3 kids after she left my abusive dad. I didn't understand all of that at the time, but I treasured that album (it was my first record of any kind) and I still have it. I can still repeat it almost word for word and I'm 50 years old. I'm so happy to see this here. 😊

New York State of Mind For What it's Worth Time in a Bottle... I know all these versions better than the originals. It was exciting as a kid to hear the originals years after I'd been singing along to these... (As a kid, I used to think Time in a Bottle was about time travel...."you're the one I want to go through time with"... That gave me the idea for a time travel story in elementary school about a scientist who took his nephew along through time with him... I think the Muppet Show skit of the scientist gave me this idea.... "Heeeey, the frog is not around...." I always think New York State of Mind needs this at the beginning.....Billy Joel should add it...haha...

Had this as a kid when it came out.. not listened to it in full now for about 45yr! Sam the Eagle singing Willow Tit Willow was always my fave.
