I recently purchased this old trike and it was the fastest from Catrike in 2007. It feels faster than 2003 Catrike Road.

How well do you think an aluminum catrike road would handle a 72v 8kw system? Is it asking for trouble?
I don't see any issues but you will likely don't need to use full power.
What is the dimensions of your solar panel?
It's 90 inch x 32 inch if connected together.
Good vid. Never saw trike. Would love to see map of route.

Very nice video of this trail ride and one that I love riding on! Sadly, now you hear reports on the news about not riding or walking alone. Seems like you can't enjoy anything in this world. I love the display data software that you used to present this. What is it?
Police issue warning last week of thefts on this trail. Be safe..
Inspiring ride! I ride the Capital to Capital trail almost every Weekend and love it always. However my distance, speed, and power averages are much less than yours. Your average speed going up the hills from the City of Richmond is now my goal, rather than huffing and puffing at 5 or 6mph like I usually do 😂
I had strong tailwind that day. Coming back speed was much slower. Enjoy the rides.
@@RideBicycleUSA Yes! There is usually a headwind when riding from Williamsburg to Richmond.
That was nice. I felt like I was riding along. how do you keep the camera/phone steady?
Gopro9 magic..
Check out my trike o
멋집니다. 2발 리컴번트에 응용하고 싶습니다.
두발 자전거는 조금 위험합니다. 급하게 희전할 때 중심 잡기가 힘들 거에요. 저도 한번 엎어진 적 있습니다.
Miss that trail. Also miss going up Hunter Station from the WOD.
I love the added benefit of sun protection.
Too low bruuh u need higher more so ur head don't feel like hitting the panels
I am short, so I don't have that issue. Lower the better to avoid tipping over.
Terrific!
it is beautiful.. i see the love that went into building this solar trike.. :)
there are riders that would pay good money to have you build one for them.
Wow 🤩! Nice setup!!
i would like to do a long distance trip with a similar setup. how many miles do you think would be possible in 10 hours??
not sure I'd go faster than 20 mph. Definitely will need the electric assist though.
You could do about 150 miles for about 10 hours. That includes eating and some rest.
I rode this route on Monday. Be aware you run into road construction and the path is closed at Farnsworth. You and get around, but after that, it's not safe. Might be that way for a couple of more months. Use the Batavia branch where it splits in Warrenville.
I'm coming from the other direction, Williamsburg: Can you make it Williamsburg to Richmond?
Yes, why not. I did round trip for this ride.
25:54 You missed the Fox River trail to the right here. The canoe shoot and the Leland hotel building.
I did? First time riding this area. 😀
❤Great music choices and a very good ride.
Technical question: How did you record your speed, time & location data, and elevation change, and what video editing software did you use to superimpose it all together?
I use Garmin Edit. www.garmin.com/en-US/p/573412
ebike 🤢
Yes, I know 😀
What is the battery range. Are you riding 25 out in 25 back?
Yes, both way with 50 miles battery range.
Nice ride 🙏
11:11
Nice. I love the recumbent/solar design. I've heard that commercial solar panels can make electricity even in the shade, whereas most residential panels can't. That's just a piece of information I heard. Can't give you anything additonal! Enjoy your fun bike!
im very surprised on how many puddles of water you had to deal when you were doing this trail just amazing
The water was cold and my shoes were wet.
Isn't it beautiful?! You traveled past my elementary school, my high school sweetheart's farm, the churches I went to, my cousin's house ...and my road at 44.48. You probably have no idea the level of American history you traveled over. It's crazy here. I grew up here (Varina), lived all over the country for 23 years, and returned. It's still much the same out here and we are FIGHTING to keep the strip malls and concrete out of here. We love it this way and it makes me happy to see you rate it #1. I agree. Thanks so much for this video!!!!
Still #1 as of 2023
Turn right at the stop sign, 3:59:40, and there's an India restaurant/bar/specialty beer&wine/convenience store that is a great low key rest area.
How is the camera so steady? Anyway thanks for making this.
Gopro 9 made it happened.
It's wonderful they made such a nice trail, I'm eager to buy a nice bike and attempt to do the 50 mile trip. How much water did you carry? I have a camelback but not sure if it'll be enough.
I had at least 10 or more bottles of water, coke, Gatorade, and other drinks. There are several stores along the way so you don't need to worry about running out of water.
Claritin D is a good decongestant for allergy season. 😊
Nice video- hope to ride soon. So we’re you riding on 28mm or 32mm? How was it with the gravel sections? Unsure if I should ride my hybrid/MTB (an older Specialized I use for commuting) or my road that has 32mm tires.
You should be fine with 32mm road on this trail. Just slow down when turning. Have fun. I was riding with 32mm tires.
Great video! What app are you using for the graphic overlay of your ride?
I used Garmin Edit for this one.
Awesome video! What app did you use for your video?
I used sony action cam video editor. support.d-imaging.sony.co.jp/www/download/apps/acmc/en/index.html?
Great video! What kind of bike do you have? You were averaging some pretty good speed most of the way. My goal is to ride down from Richmond to Williamsburg at some point this year.
I had 2016 BMC Granfonda but my speed was mostly from tailwind. I average around 16 on flat.
@@RideBicycleUSA Appreciate the quick reply!
@@tylerzufall2368 its 100 miles round trip so make sure to have a big breakfast and lunch.
@@RideBicycleUSA I plan on doing the 52 mile trip down, stay the night and then come back the next day. Definitely not up for an up and back in one day
19:37 No! No! Not that way!!!! All kidding aside, good job! I love that trail, but it can get tiring at the end.
Yes, it is considering 50 miles each way. I only do about 70 miles now starting from W&OD Trail parking, Dunn loring
Great data! Really appreciate you sharing. It.
Thanks!
Where do you start? GPS coords for parking lot please.

Beautiful ride. To help me understand your setup, How many watts are your panels? And how many amp hours are your batteries? And finally, what are you using to measure your solar output? Thanks for taking the time to share this great work with the world.
Hi! I have two panels at 170w each or 340w total. The battery is about 14ah made from used cells. I am using Cycle Analogger to record soalr input. ebikes.ca/shop/electric-bicycle-parts/ca-accessories/ca-log.html I had broken solar sensor so this video has missing solar data.
@@RideBicycleUSA adding solar for a Route 66 ride. Your work is informative - and inspiring! Thanks!
WOW doing "Route 66" . Have fun. Don't expect getting more than 50% on average from rated output. :)
@@RideBicycleUSA are you using a cycle analyst for your solar output measurement?
This is a great video. What app do you use to track your ride?
I use old Garmin Edge 810 and then use Garmin Edit to sync Gopro video .
nice new battery case, are you still 48v..? and how many WH do you have? Great improvements.. There is a big Learning Curve.. :)
Yes,still 48v since I have invested two 48v Genasun controllers. The battery was made from used cells and about 14ah currently.
Wow, thanks for the memories. I grew up in Rockville. I used to bike from the Veirs Mill/Aspen Hill road trailhead all the way to National Airport every weekend in the summer. That was around 1982 and lasted through 1987 when I graduated U of M and moved away. It has changed a lot.
do you have pic of whole trike
This is the one showing most. ruclips.net/video/Jx9LjzPxL7M/видео.html
Nice video, I have a Sony AS300, as well as the FDRX3000 action cameras, which I use to film my bike rides. What settings are you using on your camera, in regards to resolution, field of view, bit rate, color mode? I use 1080p/60, in the medium field of view, 50mbps, in vivid color mode on my camera to film my rides. I usually avoid riding or filming in the rain, so that my videos turn out the best quality. Do you have your camera mounted on the bike handlebars, or on your helmet, also which stabilization mode do you use?
I have switched to Gopro9 about 3 years ago, I always mount my camera on a handlebar mount recording at 2k resolution.
Nice clip! What camera did you record with? Sounds like a GoPro. How did you get the battery to last the entire ride?
I had a sony camera
@@RideBicycleUSA a regular video camera?
Sony Action Cam HDR-AS300
Nice! What overlay did you use on this video? Thanks!
I used Garmin Edit which is free,. download.garmin.com/software/VIRBEditforWindows_543.exe
@@RideBicycleUSA thanks!
for country like india where there is no dearth of sunlight this would be ideal
Perfect weather for a bike ride. Love it
1:47:13-1:26:58 round-trip is my usual route. Love this trail! Thanks for posting.
Great video! How did you get all that data and display it at the top and bottom of the video?
I use Gopro 9 with Garmin Edit software. It does take long time of computer time like 16 hours to process.
