I've realized alot of musicians prefer to say a minor seventh flat 5 to refer to the half diminshed seventh chord.

When dealing with the 6# Could we say when modulating to the dominant of the original eg: Gmaj to Dmaj, the 6# of the 6th scale degree of the original key, is the Leading tone/note of the new key?

Also, is it that E couldn't be considered a passing note because there was no note before it?

Is it safe to say that a (Major 6 chord) or (Major add 6) when the 6th degree is in bas becomes the Minor 7th or Minor dominant 7th chord? Or could we also say all minor dominant 7th chords when placed in first inversion becomes a Major 6 chord.... eg: In key of C: Cadd 6 is C E G A when you flip the 6th degree as the new root you get the minor dominant 7th chord.

For question 5.3 a nice quick way of identifying chord B, when you think of the rules of writing the chords in 4 part harmony, you immediately think of "Doubling the 5th" found in the Bass and Tenor, which usually occurs in second inversion for a primary chord

Really good point to emphasize, particularly when spelling out and identifying the chords/roman numerals, in the first half of Bar 6 where the bass Notes were predominantly D, it easy to assume it was a V chord when actually it was the ii in second inversion. So once we remember the purpose of Bass Continuo and figured bass, the consistent notes in bass is supposed to create the illusion of chords, but not neceassrily playing arpeggios per say, but to include as many of the chord tones. So the 4 aighth notes in bar 6 had the D in bass and the last one being in root position. only chord tone omitted was the F#. One you remind yourself of the function of Basso continuo and figured bass, you stay vigilant and double check.

at 7:13 the D7 chord is a typo, it should be B7!

Hi good evening, for the mediant minor, V7 of Eminor is B 7, not so? You spelt the chord and B is in root position in the Bass. Also, Id in the Key of C major, VII7 chord is B 7. I thought t was a typo but then you also said D7. Was that an error?

Is it a rule that the soprano voice has to resolve upward by step? Would it also be correct if the C in upper voice resolved downward by step to B and the C in the Tenor voice resolved upward by step to D instead? This is pertaining to the first example with the Italian 6

Did you notice the parallel fifths in penultimate measure? Are my eyes deceiving me??

You mentioned Bach breaking the rules by having such a wide interval between the alto and the tenor. I noticed that he also breaks the rules by not allowing the leading tone to move to 1 at times, ("Frustrating" the leading tone). Also, I recently found an "improper" tritone resolution. I found one thing in common, so far. Everytime that Bach broke a rule, it seems that the reason whas that following the rule would have lead to having to omit the 5th from a chord; Even when the chord in question is major or minor, where a missing 5th here and there is fine, it seems that Bach felt it better to break certain rules rather than omitting the 5th.

Thank you for clarifying the C# major chord! I was racking my brain! I recognized that it was the dominant f# minor, but since it was after f# instead of before it (not V/vi), I could not determine the function. I've been analyzing the chorales for fun and to build my skils in Baroque improvisation, so I released the Bach rarely non-functional harmony. You must be an excellent teacher.
