A Spike of Serenity

Hi there, Roger here. I'm a scientist by training, meanwhile, I like hiking, camping and all about appreciating the nature, and I believe everyone can do it, too. Just started sharing some of my weekly serenity moment here (e.g., camping, hiking, chatting, or just a piece of quiet nature) and I hope you'll like them. Cheers~
Pine Forest Summer Day Camping | Cool Rice Noodle, Fire Pit, and Thick Ribeye Steak
Great to be back with a new day-camping video, apologies for being absent for a while, and it's really good to be back! This time I drove to a nearby conservation area and came across a beautiful pine forest not too far from the parking lot. It was a very hot summer afternoon (over 100 F) so I decided to occupy that beautiful little camp ground immediately without walking further. I indeed enjoyed a lot cool breeze, nice & cold beer, some fire pit fun, as well as a big chunk of ribeye steak! I fell asleep quickly after the late lunch ... Well, another successful solo day camping in the book, and I'll be back again soon. Hope you'll like this one, cheers, my friend!

Fun BBQ Day-Camping by the Spring and River with the North Face Stormbreak 3 Tent

After a slight delay of about a week (lol), I finally finished capturing of the stunning scenery by the riverside of this beautiful spring park! The spring water was unbelievably pure, clean and tasty. The near beer "contest" continued this round with 2-3 new brands, I've successfully done a mouthwatering ribeye steak, and finally enjoyed a nice nap in the lightweight yet spacious Stormbreak 3 ...
Relaxing RAIN CAMPING near a Spring Creek with the North Face Wawona 4 Tent and Tarp

A wonderful afternoon camping under mild rain in a State Park near a spring creek. Pretty happy about my tarp-tent setup with my car parked by the side. With such a nice weather and not a whole lot of people around my site, I've really enjoyed some me-time this round. You got to check the beautiful spring creek water somewhere in the second half of my video, and feel free to enjoy some of the m...

Another great spring camping on a very windy ridgeline in a large conservation area. The newly bought North Face Stormbreak 3 tent was well tested XD (only the inner tent though). Eventful cooking and nice walk down to the creek, beautiful wild flowers and bushes. Another successful solo day camping in the book. Cheers, everybody, hope you'll enjoy this one~
WAWONA 4 RAIN CAMPING through a Spring Thunderstorm in a Beautiful Forest

A wonderful spring day camping in a little forest with The North Face Wawona 4 tent, sunshine, strong wind, and a handful of thunderstorm showers. A good test on the tent and it hold up pretty well. Nice and big ribeye steak as well. Also, welcome to laugh at my first and messy show of the Ecoflow Delta Max power station, it was an epic fail...XD. Wild camping on top of the hill in a thousand-acre conservation area with a beautiful overlook view of the big river. Lots of fun in pitching my tarp and The North Face Homestead Domey 3 tent and making a fire pit. Also a bit taste of stealth camping since I don't want to scare hikers that passing by. This time I used the newly bought The North Face Homestead Domey 3 tent and the good old Grand Trunk Abrigo tarp in a diamond-shaped layout. Dinner by a Lake in a Wild Animal Refuge Area

Hello my friends, this time, I went to a nearby wild animal refuge area which is also a conservation area for University research. No tent or tarp, just simple setup for a quick dinner right by the edge of a beautiful lake. I did this trip just a week before the Thanksgiving, but luckily I had a sunny and crisp weather. Heard some big animals when I was walking out, may be some deer or coyotes....

Hello my friends, and welcome back to another episode of enjoying eating in nature with Roger. URBAN GARDEN afternoon with a SLICE of RAIN

Welcome to enjoy some later afternoon rain in a small botanic garden on the edge of an urban area, with ambient background noise. Good for study, sleeping, meditation, stress relief... Hope you'll enjoy it.
I see all those leaves on the ground and can't help but think how full of ticks and spiders it must be.
hahaha, you're probably right, my friend, I did see some long-leg (but no harm) spiders during my tent pitching, but that's about it. I think I was lucky that day mainly because that the temperature was actually pretty low, I felt quite chilly after the sun went done.
Watch out for those ticks! I enjoy your videos and bought a Wawona 4p after watching one of them.
@@Nochift138 Thanks! Yes, 3 years ago when I set off to go hiking and camping, I've experienced a lot of ticks, but I've equipped myself with enough gears and knowledge to handle that now, and I'm also lucky that I'm in Midwest states, not much ticks here bearing Lyme disease bacterium. So, don't worry:)
we are all fascinated by your menu it is very interesting to see how one can make camping more interesting and what possible. ❤❤❤❤
Welcome to my channel and thank you for your kind comment here, hope you've enjoyed my videos. Though I've paused for a while, new ones are to come soon.
Nice video! Where did you get all of your camping knowledge from? Very informative
Thanks for the compliment! I’m actually a bit embarrassed because I don’t have that much camping knowledge or skills. This channel isn’t really about showing off. If my videos bring you even a little bit of joy, that'll make me really happy already.
I just discovered your videos from research on the Wawona 4 and find them very relaxing. Thank you!
Hello my friend, welcome to my channel, glad to know you enjoyed my video here, I've been paused for a while uploading new videos, but I'll restart very soon this fall. So, feel free to come back again. Cheers!
I think the Wawona 4 might just be your favorite tent! I just bought one for camping here in Maine.
Well, you're probably right, but I never thought this way until I saw your comment, so, thanks! Wawona 4 for me is really a versatile tent that can be used in many different ways, especially when it's combined with a nice tarp. I'll definitely use it more in my future videos. Hope you'll like it too in your outdoor experiences!
Wind sounds like a trip 7 takin' off. I love it
I love the way he takes everything in stride never losing sense of humor!
It's so delicious watching while knowing what is in store
Seeing you smiling and having so much fun is contagious! Those were some strong winds and it looked like the tent itself stood up to them very well! Any idea what they were gusting to? Maybe 30/40? Coming upon your video actually, was very forturious as I am actively looking for a tent which will handle all the elements, so thank you!
Oh yeah, my friend, that trip had a lot of fun and great memories for me, and thank you very much for your kind comments here. Those gusts were about 30 - 40 miles per hour for sure, or even higher, but great that they're not constantly blown on me. This Wawona 4 tent definitely worth its value I should say, but if you'll experience strong winds most of the time, than perhaps you should look for a stronger one.
"Rich guy buys camping gear while having 0 clue" Who tf cooks steak in a jetboil.
Great comment based on your name @collegehumour, my friend. I'm not rich at all, not quite having clue on gears that time, but hey, it shouldn't be that hard to tell that I was not using a jetboil :) Cheers~!
There seems to a lot of natural “pegging” all around your campsite that you can take advantage of with a small saw or hatchet, and a knife, I like your video.
You're absolutely right, my friend, this video was taken last spring, and in the following year and half I've learnt a lot more in using natural stuff for camping. Glad to know you liked my video, welcome to come back again and chat more. I've been stopped uploading video for a while but I'm planning to continue recently, aiming for a new start later this month. Cheers~
What extended poles are those
Just some el cheapo stuff that you can buy from the Bass Pro, work good, so I keep using them, but they're a bit too heavy. You can find some high quality poles from Green Elephant online.
Kelty is really good but pricey. Odoland makes some decent extendable tarp poles at half the price of Kelty. I have used two sets of these on three separate camping trips with much success. The Green Elephant tarp poles have been rated negatively due to the twist lock design failing over time, causing pole length slippage.
@@Nochift138 Thanks, my friend, good to know that Green Elephant has some issues. We don't have Odoland tarp poles here, but Cabela poles works just fine for me. Cheers~!
Still waiting to see some new content. :) I may have told you I got the Wiwona 8. I decided it was way too big for my needs and gave it to my daughter and have since pulled the trigger on the 4. I set it up in the living room and I think it will be perfect. I am just waiting on some decent weather. We are now in the upper 90's and low 100's here in Louisiana. I have everything ready to go just in case we get a cool front come through. Since I comment to you last, I have also gotten an electric mountain bike and have it rigged up to go bikepacking. For it I have the Nemo Mayfly OSMO 2. I hope to go camping on a local creek in the Naional Forest and Tenkara fish it for a few days. Hoping you bring some new content soon and wishing you the best. I love your vibe.
Thanks for your follow up comments, my friend, and great to know that you've got the Wawona 4 as well, I bet you'll love it since the size is perfect, not too big, not too small. I'm not quite familiar with Nemo tents but they're always popular on the high end camping equipment, hope you'll enjoy it. We're having very hot weather this week, and yes, it is pretty hard to go camping during summer time. I appreciate your encouragement, I've been very busy recently, but I just noticed that it's been almost a year since my last video, time really flies, my friend. Well, I decided to restart my camping and video update soon, should be in August, to express my appreciation to my subscribers and viewers, and to re-enjoy the nature that we all should do.
@@aspikeofserenity Glad to hear you will be doing some more videos. Yea, this heat is unbearable. I am so ready to go camping but not in this heat. I recently got into Tenkara fishing. It is awesome, easy, and affordable. You ought to look into it. It would suit you well and that stream you camped on has a lot of trout in it. I love the simplicity of it. Looking forward to your videos and take care my friend.
What do you think about the Wawona “front porch” or vestibule that can add on to this tent? Have you thought about getting it? I just bought this tent; I am considering to get the addition as well.
Thanks for your message, my friend, I've thought about, and it does look great, and provide more capability to the tent. But I probably won't go that direction, I want easy-going stuff, be honest with you, I'm even thinking to reduce all the sizes of my tent and camping stuff, not for the elite long-range hiking though, just want to be easy :) Cheers!
What is the inside standing height please?
Thanks for asking, my friend, I'm 1.84 meter (6.03 feet) tall and there's still ~25 centimeter (~10 inches) space above my head when I'm standing at the center. Hope that will give you some idea. Cheers~
@@aspikeofserenity thanks a lot for the return. Very useful!👍
Good thing that it wasn’t raining when you arrived!
Oh yeah, you're right my friend, it'll be way too much for me if the rain and wind come together hand-in-hand :)
thanks for that nice video mate! i liked it a lot. stay safe :)
Thank you, my friend! Great to have your kind comment here. Though I've been stopped uploading videos for a while, I'll be back soon. Cheers~!
What an amazing spot. I am only a few minutes in, and I have to go soon but I have a feeling I'll eventually watch the entire video. This seems like a great place to spend lunch break.
Thank you for your comment, Sarah! Sorry for my late reply, I hope you've got a chance to watch the entire video recently. I love this place very much and I always come back to it even though I've moved to a different town a couple of hours away from it. Cheers~
Camping in a white dress shirt??
Yes sir (lol), I know it was a bit weird to camp with a white shirt, but hey, here is my story: I camped the first time in an urban garden behind my office wearing a white shirt, and since then, I've been camping many many places and weather conditions with all sorts of gears and still wearing a white shirt (90%+) without any issues. Again, I know it's odd, but I wanted to show that you don't need to go camping with those outrageous expensive and fancy gears, as long as you have the right tools, everyone can go camping even wearing their office shirt ... I used to play a lot of soccer at my younger years, one funny observation during a normal pick up game was that whenever a player wearing shinny professional gears, I'm 90% sure that he's a newbie (actually nearly 100% sure) :)
Great tent. But 30 minute set up time seems like an eternity.
Be honest with you my friend, I was thinking exactly the same way then. I was a bit too overweight in the fall of 2022, and man, I was wondering why the heck this tent building was still going on after 20+ minutes ... :) Anyway, I got it done, and I enjoyed a nice drink and nap. Really a hot autumn day as far as I could still remember. Thanks for your comments, cheers~

I have one and my son and I set it up in ten minutes.
Hi Roger. New to your channel and I have to say you turn out some really nice videos. They are a reflection of your kind and peaceful nature....I can just tell. Thank you for the shout out to Tony and Steve.....you are in good company with these fine gentlemen. I loved the flower shots at the end and the hummingbirds. Very nice. Oh, and that was not a steak, that was a side of beef. Man that thing looked awesome. Take care.
I've commented for two of your previous comments and thank you very much again for your kind words here, my friend. I'm thrilled to be compared with Tony and Steve, to be honest, they've contributed A LOT to the RUclips outdoor and camping families, and compared to that I've done nothing. Well, I'll consider your words as a great encouragement for me and my channel do need some strong push now since I've really been lagging behind recently :) Love your catching of some of the little ending shots, the hummingbirds, butterflies and flowers, etc., and Oh yes, that's a little bit too big steak for me, but I finished it well. Cheers~
Beautiful setup. Don't know why but everytime I hear that quitar renditon of Auld Lang Syne, really stirs my emotions. Particularly in such a beautiful and peaceful spot. That river is beautiful. I am pretty sure I saw a nice trout rising at 1:40:35 or so and several smaller trout further down. He was taking a fly off the top. I would love to get in there with my fly rod or Tenkara rod.
I like this trip as you did. Thank you for your lovely comments, and you really have very sharp eyes (and ears :) ), I do love this version of Auld Lang Syne played by DJ Williams, slow and beautiful, perfectly matching the environment I was in, and if you noticed, there was a subtle but surprisingly beautiful bird sound by the end of this music (around 1:07:13). Yeah, this was one of several most beautiful spring camps I've ever done so far.
I really enjoyed the camping trip. The wind was insane. You came up in my recommendations probably because I follow AB Camping and Steve. Steve is a great guy. I do enjoy Tony's cigar time. Both have great channels. I just cannot get into the ASMR videos. I almost feel like a voyeur where videos like yours, AB and Steve, I feel as though I am invited along and really enjoy the visit and small talk. I am presently tossed between buying the Wawona 6 (love the two door vestibule) or the REI Base Camp 6. Both seem to be great tents. Tony has done a few videos with the Winona 6 and raves about it. Anyway....I subbed and look forward to checking out more of your videos. BTW..... did not have a lot of places staked out or guylines? Just wondering for my own references. Thanks for taking me along.
Hello my friend, thank you for your recent comments for my videos, really appreciate all my kind and patient viewers like you. Speaking about Tony and Steve, I'm super excited to see their meeting with each other recently as shown in Tony's Canada trip, but I was very upset as well when I heard that our beloved Crazy Neighbor (Glenn) has passed away. He is really a good man, and he will be remembered... Well, you're very much welcomed to come back to my little channel and leave a comment or two. I've been too busy recent months and haven't got time to upload new videos, but with the love and care from you all, I'll for sure continue my trips and videos. I have never purchased and used REI tent yet but I have found an interesting video for you to take a look, it is right about a nice comparison between these two tents (ruclips.net/video/oQE2BusY2nU/видео.html), enjoy, and in general, I think Wawona 6 is better for tall guys, who wants a large vestibule room, rainy/windy days, and not-too-cold weather, oh, and yes, it does has sufficient amount of points for guylines, don't you worry about that.
@@aspikeofserenity Thank you for your replies. Yes, Crazy Neighbor was a huge loss to Steve and to all of us who enjoy the great outdoors and Steve's unique content. I watched his latest "movie" of all of Crazy Neighbors appearances and shenanigans. Very moving video and a great tribute to him by Steve. Well, you inspired me, at age 75, almost 76, to get back into camping. I found and snagged a Wawona 8 for $480 at Moosejaw. I couldn't pass up such a great deal. I went for the big tent so I can take my grandchildren camping. I have 13 grands and 4 great grand. My 13 year old grandson and I took it on a shakedown trip this past weekend, spending 2 nights and 3 days at one of my favorite old disbursed campsights. We had a ball. The set up was a bit more than I anticipated.....taking me about 30 min. However, now that I better understand the setup, I should be able to do it in 20 min or so. It is a great tent. The only change I would recommend to North Face is to put stake-out points in the middle, at the door.. There are plenty of hanging points in the tent as well as storage. I hope to get 3+ seasons out of it. Fall camping during squirrel season used to be one of my favorite times to camp but it can get cold. I picked up a Maxspeedingrods 5k diesel heater that should keep the tent quite warm. I was really impressed with this heater and they have gotten so cheap. I picked it up for almost 1/2 the cost of a Heater Buddy. Please keep making videos Roger. They are very relaxing to watch and also inspiring for us all to get outside and enjoy the outdoors with all of its wonders. BTW, here in Louisiana we have wild horses that roam the National Forest in small herds. While camping this weekend we had five come within 50 yds of our camp and grazed for a half hour or so. My grandson was in awe. We were gifted and would not have been able to accept it had we stayed home. Again, thank you and thank you for responding and sorry for the screed. 😁
Yeah, I've watched Crazy Neighbor's Movie for about 2 or 3 times, pure joy from this gentleman, he was really a great treasure in Steve's videos, and he will definitely be remembered. Plus, there were several times that his talent shocked me, such as the treehouse he single-handedly built, as well as his immensely calm (and humor) discussion with Steve about their shoelace running loose... I'm feeling extremely humbled if my non-state-of-the-art videos or random chats here "inspired" anything for you, but I do feel happy for you to be brave enough to get back to camping at your age. That deserve a big "Bravo~" $480 for Wawona 8 was really a nice deal, and I admire you to be able to handle such a not quite small tent within 30 min! But most importantly, it is lovely to know that you've enjoyed 2 nights and 3 days with your 13-old grandson at one of your favorite spots. I'm sure this tent will give you at least a nice 3-season shelter coverage, but please be careful when you have strong wind, my Wawona 4 didn't handle it very well. I've never tried a diesel heater before, Mr. Buddy Heater works fine, but I bet I can try something different when I'm passing my 50 or 60 :) I'm trying to come back to the wild and shoot new videos on different scales now, of course I still need to work hard for my routine job, meanwhile, I've upgraded many of my hiking and camping gears in the past months, and I'd love to use or demonstrate a bit in my future videos. Great to know that you guys have wild horses in National Forest down there, hope one day I can be camping there and experience it. Well, be honest with you I was in New Orleans during the Mardi Gras for a conference. I do enjoy the humidity and warm weather there, and I am from Missouri:)
@@aspikeofserenity Ha ha.....the humidity can be a killer though. I am in central Louisiana so it is not quite as bad as being right next to the Gulf. If you ever get down this way give me a shout. If nothing else, I can turn you on to some great food and maybe a tour of the local forests. As for the diesel heater, I am blown away by how efficient it is and the amount of heat it is capable of putting out. There is the added advantage that it does not produce water like propane does. I always found it almost magical that 1# of propane produces 1.6#'s of water. Considering that 1# bottles now run between $5-6 and are only good for about 4 hours, compared to 1.3 gallons of diesel lasting over 30 hours, makes it a no brainer. Take care my friend and hope to see your new gear soon.
Amen. We need more 'real life scenario' videos ! Good training ! 🏞 👍
Thanks my friend, you may not see many "perfect" camping scene in my channel, but "real" is definitely what I can provide. Hope you've enjoyed it so far, and I'll be back and active again soon. Cheers~
Does your chair punch holes through the floor?
Oh yes, the ground was very much soft in that beautiful spring day, tried frequently to switch my position so that I wouldn't sink too much.
Does the cot punch holes through your floor?
Well, my answer is "No" for this video, because that day the ground was very dry and hard.
Thanks for making this video. What poles are you using for the front vestibule to prop it up like a roof like you did?
Thanks for your comment! I just got the tent poles from nearby Bass Pro shop, quite handy and cheap, but definitely not a light-weight choice. You may want to check tent or tarp poles that produced by GreenElephant, they do a pretty good job on that specific type of camping gear. Cheers!
Hi, do you know if the entrance over hand you did at 35min of the vid works on the wawona 8person tent?
Hi my friend, thanks for asking. I didn't use Wawona 8 before, but after checking some related videos, I noticed that Wawona tent has a similar vestibule door at the front side. So I'm pretty sure that it can do the same over hang as I did in this video. Cheers~!
@@aspikeofserenity thank you!
You're very much welcome.
Hope you are well Roger! Love from 🇬🇧
Thank you for checking on me, my friend, really appreciate it! I'm fine, just too many work to do, but I will find a time to resume my video, for me to find some peaceful mind, and also for you guys who've been showing your kind heart and care. My apologies, but I'll be back.
Just checking on you Roger!!!
Thanks for checking on me, my friend! I'm good, just too busy in recent months. I hope all is well with you and your beloved ones, and I'll be back here with new videos for sure, just need some time.
I just bought one of these Domey 3's over the internet, as the color choices dwindle to just 2-3 on closeout. No longer on The North Face's site in America, but still up in one color in England. I found a Lavender Camo in Canada. I own a range of tents, but intend to test this one this winter and later in Minnesota's Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Nice to see yours, and I also like the orange very much too. I wish it had some more guy outs, and before seeing it in person, wonder about the fly attachment points or the pole crossing holes to attach to. Have you had this in heavy winds ever, or snow? I don't think they sold many of these, if only judging by RUclips's. There's just a handful up with yours about the Domey 3. I think the mod designs put their regulars users off, and may not have brought that many new customers to The North Face. Meanwhile, I own a lot of their gear, and as a photographer/artist love the wild prints and colors.
Thank you for your detailed comment, my friend! Sorry for my late response. Well, I do love this tent though it's probably been highly suppressed on the market for some reasons, and I do noticed that not many people use it these years. The fly attachment points and the pole crossing holes (or sleeves) are very much apparent when you pitch it, however, I'd like to point out that it does feel a bit harder to finish the pole setup since it was very tight (at least for me). Maybe it is intentionally designed to be like this tight since it is pretty much a single wall tent, and I believe it'll have a good performance in strong wind. I haven't tested it under snow or strong wind, but I can confirm you that it performs well under light to medium level raining conditions, no condensation or leaking issues. Besides, it'll be great if you use it together with an extra tarp on top, since this tent doesn't have a vestibule design at its door section, not quite good for rainy day use by itself when you need to go inside and out frequently.
I just spent 2 nights in it on the North Shore of Lake Superior, and saw some 20-30 mph winds, and the tent didn't budge. Yes the fabric flutters, but the poles are rock solid and stable. I think it's good to 50, without too much worry. I have seen recent videos where people lost their tents, when they weren't in them! And they blew away in good winds. I think I might guy it out, if the wind ever gets that high. Otherwise, it feels very solid. The space is shocking, I think it's as big and light as a 3 pole tent can be. I'm very happy with it. And I may write back when I see some more weather in it. As I hope to do a serious winter trip or two this year. I love the "Storm Porn" videos that people put up, where, "12 inches of snow is forecast, but I could get 20 inches!" And that stupid kind of thing, calls to me. I just bought a 2nd one off of eBay for $29 is all, because it had no poles. But it appears to be a rare print from the tents were first released. I wonder, could I mod one of them into a "hot tent"? More later, Craig
Lovely Friday night to have some news back from you, Craig! Great to know that you've enjoyed this tent under high wind already, yeah, I know it can perform well in windy condition the first time I pitch it, ridiculously tight if you haven't played with it for a while :) I do look forward to more chat from you, my friend, but yes, please peg it down if you'll face stronger wind. I recently started to hike with my daughter and we're preparing for some real winter camping too. Unfortunately we probably won't have that thick snow here in Missouri. Well, since you have your RUclips channel, ever thinking about putting your own camping videos out? I'll click the thumb up button for you. You got another same tent for only $29 on eBay? Wow, I'll check some camping stuff on it for sure. As for the print, I remember there were one version showing bright red/orange "heat map" patterns, hope you got something different, 'cause that heat map thing makes me want to throw up. lol
It's a nice camping place...Can you list what gears you bring with you? Thanks.
Thanks, I indeed enjoyed that day, and yes, I plan to list my gears in the description, just not having enough time to do so. But it won't be everything, just those that I've used and will continue use in the future.
We have just bought this tent, with the extension, for camping in Japan. Perfect for us, two humans and a German Shepard. Your videos helped us to decide which tent to get, Thanks.
Thank you for your comments, my friend. Didn't expect this since I've been paused uploading new videos for over 2 months. Glad that I can help a bit, and your message did cheer me up. For those who have been waiting for my update, my apologies! I'm not retreating from this yet, just got too many things to handle recent days. Hopefully I'll be able to hiking and camping out again when I'm not that busy, and I'm positive about it now. So stay tune, I'll see you all soon. Cheers~!
New fan Roger, looking forward to your future videos...
Thank you, my friend, I'll definitely do more and share more.
Keep it going, youre a geniune person.
Thank you, my friend, I will keep going for sure :)
Hopefully more people know that Jesus Christ is coming back. We are spiritually saved by grace through faith in Christ Jesus, the One and Only God and Savior.
Thanks for your comment.
ohhh the dreaded wind. I know how ya feel my friend. it's a good thing you had extra food to eat after losing the noodles. it was a beautiful spot there.
Yeah, strong wind, but I like it, I've done two videos at this lovely spot, and will do it more in the future. Food wise, I always prepare some spare ones, but I'm fine even if I lose all the entrees, some RX Bar or Clif Bar should do the work.
Thank you for another great adventure, your camera work is getting better and better really enjoy the trips have a great week and weekend.
Thank you my friend, it has been a fun learning process, I got to say. Well, you have a nice week and weekend too in Chicago. Cheers~!
good to see ya back! you scared me with the ribeye but it turned out good i see.
Thank you, Dave! It's great to be back here, yeah, that big chunk of ribeye scared me as well, but after giving it the first couple bites, I was totally relaxed ... I even didn't check my camera during my eating since it was so damn delicious, and that's why my steak-eating chapter stopped unexpectedly :) Anyway, thanks for your support, and I'll start following your channel too, some of your camped areas were just Gorgeous, I have to say.
@@aspikeofserenity Thank you much Roger i really appreciate your support as well. I enjoy your videos and it was nice of you to speak of Tony and Steve on their losses.
@@DavesCampingAdventures Thank you, Dave, I'll look forward to your new videos then! Yeah, still sad for their losses, and as a long time viewer of their channels, I think it's a no-brainer to mention that and provide a little bit support from the bottom of my heart.
Great video. Glad to see you back Roger
@@lilklondikeoutdoors4116 Glad to be back as well. Cheers my friend!
Wow I just found your channel we'll be watching you as much as possible love your content and extended videos more than an hour to two hours is beautiful I'm from Chicago, I am disabled so this is how I get out watching your content thank you so very much.
Great to have your like of my long-version camping videos, and it's my pleasure to continue my camping and sharing for many lovely viewers like you. Cheers my friend, Cheers!
Enjoyed your peaceful authentic video very much. It was ingenious how you rigged the tarp. It is often difficult to rig it so it sheds the accumulated rain. New subscriber here. Please keep it up!
Thanks for your kind comment, it was mostly a coincidence that I came up with the saddle-shaped tarp setup that day, and it's mainly due to the lack of extra poles, but I'm glad that's working perfectly. Anyway, thank you for your support, I'll definitely keep on shooting and sharing. Cheers~!
The scenery is beautiful. You’re based in the US, right? What part of the country do you live in?
Thanks, my friend. Yes, I'm located in the U.S., my videos were mostly taken in and around the State of Missouri, if that's what you're wondering about. Cheers!
Watching from New Zealand....
I have missed you Roger! Love the vids…. ❤ Sometimes hard to hear you talk but the quality of your productions overall is improving which is great to see. .. So when do we get to see an overnighter?? Can’t wait for your next adventure.
Sorry to keep you waiting, I didn't mean it, but as I mentioned in the upcoming video that I failed to shoot a video three times in a row in the past couple of weeks, mainly due to my work and other commitments. Anyway, I'm back, feel free to check my updated channel Post, and new video will be up in the following couple of days. I noticed the mic issue when I'm away from the camera, although I have backup wireless mic, I'd rather not to wear it since that will destroy capturing of the surrounding nature sounds. In other words, beautiful bird chirping is much better than listening to me babbling-rambling, right? Lastly, I'd be happy to do an overnighter, however my current job and family situation won't allow me to do so. Well, I promise you though, some day in the future I'll start my night adventures, for sure.
Mixing separate audio recordings is pretty quick and easy to do with most editing apps)
So use the wireless mic for your monologue and capture/sample the background sep on a different recording/audio track
Well, it looks like you're quite the pro at this! 😄 I'm gonna give your suggestions a shot, but I might run into a few hiccups when it comes to syncing up different audio clips. Let's see how it goes! 🎧 OK, the worst-case scenario could be me recording my monologue using a wireless mic, while using the original Rode mic on the camera for other sections of the video.
Do you have an Instagram or Facebook to follow?
Not yet, but I'll try to open one soon, so you'll see more details behind the screen, don't know if you'll like it or not, but I think it'll be fine to share, right :)
@@aspikeofserenity I agree! My fam and I all watch you and were just curious…you make our days because you’re so relatable!
Oh, what an honor, thank you and your family and that was definitely a positive encouragement for me! Well, so far, I put some random things under my RUclips channel "Community" tab and you should have access to it via computer browsers but I'm not sure if that's the case for phone or TV viewers. Anyway, thanks again for your suggestion and I'll find a time soon to establish my Ins or Facebook account.
Heck of a setup!
Thank you my friend!
Steve shout out! Nice. Prob how I found your vids 👏
Thanks, my friend, we all love Steve apparently. Well, just heard from his recent update that he'll go to Nova Scotia to take care of his mother... I wish him all the best.
👍🏽 Good job!Bro❤
Thanks 🔥
