How the bleep am I supposed to follow that?!
@@samihover6481 Lol. Its not meant to be an instructional video. There are plenty of manuals, books, etc to learn how to do it. This is just to document a project.
Hello.. i really enjoyed this video very much. And learned a lot just from the chat. Only thing is, i saw the question asked numerous times but never saw an actual answer to it. HOW DO YOU SKIN THE HEAD OUT? AND NOT DYE IN THE PROCESS .. Lol. I would really like to kept one in tact completely, from tip of nose to the button but my husband freaks out every time i attempt to do it and makes me, ya know, get rid of that end. Hahaha. So my question really is... can you please teach me how to do it. I would even pay you, if need be. Its just one of those things i need to know how to do but am a lil frightened to do it without some knowledge on it first.
Very carefully! Theres really no tricks to teach. Take your time, and stay away from the fangs. You could pull them out with some pliers... but I just avoid them.
Pull fangs out or pull them back with a copper wire make you a jig and have someone else screw the copper wire jig down then when you let go of wire the fangs are held up then use syringe flush the venom sacks then hot glue over each tip on each fang now you have flushed the venom and covered the tip to where a small bump won't cost you a finger or worst then proceed to skin very carefully
I am trying to mount a rattlesnake for the first time and I can't any videos on youtube on skinning the head just the body but I already know how to skin the body because I have tons of rattlers at my house in Central Washington so I want to make some money off of the mounts but I don't know how to skin the head of a rattlesnake. So can you please do a video on that or show me were to find a video on that. Also when you are buying a form for the snake I am wanting to get a form that has the mouth open and I found some and it has the mouth open with the hole for the tongue and stuff so i am wondering if you still have to buy a mouth insert? But anyways awesome video!
Same here can't find a video at all on the head skinning the don't ever show it
Theres really no trick to it. Just go slow and dont get stuck. You can pull the fangs out with pliers..
thank you@@bigdstaxidermy9286
How to do head? I did the skin before but I want to leave the head on with out smelling like death haha
If you skin it out, flesh it properly and tan it, there is no smell..
@@bigdstaxidermy9286 thanks man, just worried about the brains or whatever.
@@gorilla9519 Are you talking about keeping the head whole? If youre putting it on a form, there's no brains, skull or anything.. you skin it all and just mount the skin on a form.
@@bigdstaxidermy9286 yeah, I skinned it to but it on a board but wanted to try to keep the head/skull maybe, dig the brains out? idk if it's possible... I found nothing on RUclips...most just cut the head off
@@gorilla9519 its not just the brains.. theres a ton of meat on their heads, and if its venomous, theres the sacs too.. depending on what snake, you could use a head form, and mount just that, pinning the body to the board.. unless youre going to freeze-dry it, Id skin it out.. www.mckenziesp.com/mobile/Snake-Head-Replicas-C2187.aspx
Do you make the moulds?
I do not. There are several companies that sell snake forms. McKenzie, Van Dyke, etc.. they all have them.. Just google search "snake taxidermy forms" and a list will come up
Man you have a ton of scale loss on that guy . Got to be easy with them guys and try not to knock off all them scales makes a lot better looking mount .
Those arent scales. The scale sheaths all come off. If you dont take them off, theyll come off eventually.. unless you got one that just shed its skin. What I REALLY need to do is put pics on the end of the video AFTER paint. This was only showing the mounting process and not the finishing.
So the video is nice but that music just ruins it
Opinions are like assholes... everyone has one. You can put whatever music you like on your videos...Theres a volume control..
@@bigdstaxidermy9286 it was just a suggestion but okay.
I was being mostly sarcastic, but not everyone's taste in music is the same. I do appreciate feedback and Im glad you liked the video, minus the soundtrack..
@@bigdstaxidermy9286 Okay. The video was truly great, j really enjoyed it but yeah I guess it is just not my type of music.
What glue are you using?
How to preserve the snake skin though?
You tan it.
@@bigdstaxidermy9286 Can I ask for the products name? Or where to buy ☺️
@@marvs5217 If you ask 100 taxidermists that question, you'll get 100 different answers. I use Lutan F. I get it from McKenzie Taxidermy supply.
@@bigdstaxidermy9286 Thank you, at least now I have an idea
Badass soundtrack awesome video
What did you use to tan your snake?
Lutan F
@@bigdstaxidermy9286 where do you get that? I have a rattle snake to do my self!
www.mckenziesp.com/mobile/LUT1-P20469.aspx
You can look up the instructions on Mckenzie's site as well
@@bigdstaxidermy9286 I got ya so you tan it alot like a whitetail cape in a safety pickle.... how long do you let it set in the pickle?
What tanning solution did you use?
Lutan F
@@bigdstaxidermy9286 thanks!!! Can you use the same on alligator?
Never done it so I cant say for sure, but I'd think you could
but how can I dry out a dead snake to just have the head and the skin just like that??
You cant. It needs to be skinned and tanned and put on a form. There are other ways to preserve skin, but not like this.
Very nice
What was that type of glue you used?
Its a hide paste from Mckenzie taxidermy supply.. www.mckenziesp.com/mobile/MPSTQ-P16648.aspx
How much for that snake?
Wasn't going to be for sale, but make me an offer.. worst case, I dont accept it!
Amazing!! Thank you so much for the beautiful specimen, keep up the good work! 👍
What 2 part apoxie did you use to make the tongue?
