I found mud has infiltrated the cap making it impossible to get the tool in the adjustment slots. So I pried the cap out, cleaned out the mud, did the adjustment (much easier to see what you are trying to do with the tool), then put the cap back on being sure to put it back in position.
If you grab it at the base and twist it doesn’t it just unscrew the threads at the base and risk creating leaks? I thought you set the right stops by pulling the cartridge and dropping back in aligned to the correct notch?
Nice video - one question. If the water is off -- is there a tool that can hold up the head as the spring is very strong and hard to grip as it's quite far below the lawn surface?
I recently moved into a house where the landscapers messed up the sprinklers, the landscape lighting, they did such a bad job installing fabric and mulch, and the bed edges that now I have to redo everything that they touched. It's disgraceful how these so-called businesses take advantage of women and people who don't understand how to see if they did a proper job before paying them.
Hi I am looking for an old model silver bullet selinoid model number M24E thats the selinoid number. Need a replacement valve for this. I inch. Weather matic. Thank you, Pat
Those are discontinued, and now you need S20P light duty solenoid. Search online for a local professional irrigation shop and they can help you, or you can buy online if you want, but local irrigation shops are best.
Very helpful, thank you for taking the time to share your expertise. We ended up using a stretch coupler to make the connection so that we didn't have to dig up as much or use a ton of muscle. ruclips.net/video/_xEHtnLZulY/видео.html
I have done a hand full of these valves. You did a great job ! With all kinds of tasty methods. I have 24 of the black valves - earlier than the Silver ones. The main failure mode is the 4 bolts pulling the insert nuts thru the plastic and they lose the seal on new diaphragms. Do you have a easy trick to tighten them up ? or get them to stop leaking ?
Jeff, the best way to set the right limit is to remove the head entirely and screw in the body all the way. I actually use pipe dope when I replace the body. This way you don't leak from below like unscrewing the body to adjust tends to do. You can then insert the head into the body with the right limit in the correct place. It's geared so you are dropping it on the best spot.
I bought the key. Gonna try adjusting the heads today. Wish me luck! Also, you should reach out to someone selling the tool on Amazon. You might be able to post a link to it and make a small profit. I know the tools are pretty cheap but, hey it's worth a shot maybe.
Amazon competes directly against its own resellers, undercuts them and eventually kicks its resellers off the platform. A small business can't afford to compete head to head with a half trillion dollar company. I've seen this happen to numerous small businesses, people ask me why I am so down on Amazon that's one very good reason right there.
Great video! I have a Weathermatic valve that is leaking. I changed the guts on it, including the diaphragm, but it's still leaking. This Weathermatic valve is the old kind, and it has a little black lever on it. I'm not sure what that does.
@@rojassprinklersdiysandrepa4486 - I fixed the leak, which was in between the top half and lower half of the Weathermatic valve. I just didn't have it tight enough. I also see the little lever was the clean out, so I'm good. Thanks!
good, clear video; two comments; first, I suggest testing for leaks after a repair like this before viewer buries job; second, if the system is older, consider preventative hose, emitter replacement because of aging parts increase risk of leaking; keep them coming.
Loved the video, it helped me so much. My sprinkler system has been in about 30 years and I am now finding the valves leaking from the bottom. I have struggled to replace them. I was disappointed that the battery went dead when you were putting the two pipes together, to me that is one of the hardest parts. Me, being a female, do not have much strength in my hands so it is hard to replace the valves. You did show some very good tips that I've always wondered about. I have search other videos to no avail. Thank You!!!
Thank you! Just what I needed!
Thank you so much!!
Awesome job very informative and to the point.😊
You could write the book on how to do how-to videos. Perfect. Thank you.

Great video, thanks. Mine seems clogged, how do I fix that?
Yup ill just add to what everyone else already said, good video
This is exactly what I needed to see!!!
This video could have been shorter with less run on sentences. Perhaps greater detail about the steps.
No telling how many times I've referenced this video the past 4 or 5 years...lol.
Excellent gracias compa la mejor explicacion y sin rodeos

Unless you can find a pressurized swivel joint connector then yes its likely to loosen it and create a potential leak.
My Hunter I-20 sprinkler head is not popping up/
Perfect video - short, informative and straight to the point. Thank you, really helped me with adjusting my parents' spinklers!
Finally a great L/R adjustment vid
damn id love to live whereever this is, water pressure is insane on this systems, like 7+ heads on one zone and those babys are PUMPING

There was a tool. i will look for name and let you know
Is this the master valve? Mine says there is a short in zone 2
no, this a zone valve. but these valves can also be use as master valve. if you says there is a short you might need to replace just the solenoid.
Nice bro

Awesome! Just the adjustment I needed after my COVID lockdown patio extension 😊
Wow such a helpful video. Where do I buy spare parts or even a new valve for my weatheatic system?
thank you!

i knew it. i'm going to have to dig up the whole yard to replace this thing. great... nice video by the way. it helps
So what if it starts leaking below since you unscrewed it?
I'm sorry what do you mean?

@@Jmitchking Thank you, great idea.
My I-20 is spinning freely in either direction ( no right or left stop) any ideas?
The gears are no good. They will move for a short moment but all of the sudden it will stop working.
If you don't have a torch, what can you use? A lighter?
Never tried it. Next best thing to use is a rubber mallet.

A heat gun or an old hair dryer works well if you have access to an electrical outlet.
