The case covers that you place on the top of the screen can damage the hinge because the hinge is designed to only handle the screens weight not both the screen and a protector. If you don't believe me look it up online you'll find a lot people saying the same thing. If you want to make the top scratch proof I would recommend a skin from Dbrand because their skins can take the scratches and are lightweight.
