new front spindles for the golf the original hub/spindle used a smaller CV joint which just isnt up to the task , changing to a bigger CV requires a bigger bearing. ill be using the same hubs as the rears in part two the lower control arm will be made 00:00 - the issues 02:41 - CAD work 07:44 - lets weld and grind and weld and weld

Just subbed and looking forward to seeing how you progress with this build. Great work and helpful tips by the way!
I'm loving the build, very classy choices! Looking forward to seeing it come together. There's no way I could get something like that registered in Australia though. I certainly couldn't tow a car on the street with a home made A-frame like you did with the TT at the beginning - it would be a cop magnet. 😢 Is this one show / race only? What kind of rules do you have for road cars over in South Africa?
yea africa hits different hey .. this will be a street car , as long as its roadworthy then the sky is the limit . they dont have MOT over here like they do in the UK, which is sad cause there are absolute wrecks on the road which endanger the lives of the innocent. thanks for the kind words , wish i had more time for the project
@@carbonmk1 That's wild! Thanks for explaining.
Eish I'm worried about safety, No safety goggles, No gloves... When grinding, safety is paramount to prevent injuries and ensure a smooth operation... Preparedness By prioritizing safety when grinding, you can minimize the risk of injuries and ensure a safe working environment...
dont worry bru , i wear safety gear when its needed, watch the grinding again and you will see i have glasses on, when im welding i have gloves on
Your fabrication skills is just insane
Excellent work we appreciate
This is so good to watch .
Just came across your video and enjoyed it thank you
Glad you liked it, plenty more to come.
recently started following your page and really impressed with your work. patiently waiting for the next video
Thanks man , hopefully won't be too long
Them turret tops look great , I’m still so impressed with the trailing arm set up , reminds me of the s1 built trailing arms makes me wanna learn cad and design so bad , I’m also at this stage in my car with the tunnel I’m converting a mk3 golf to 4wd and want to make a wider/higher tunnel for ease of exhaust fitment , great work 👍
i got most of my ideas from FDF raceshop , they make some sweet stuff. CAD isnt something you learn over a weekend , be disciplined and dedicate 30-40mins per day doing a tutorial , DOING a tutorial , not just watching them. its well worth it and its never been easier to learn CAD as it is now with YT tuts
I'd like them as long as you can make them. Seriously impressive stuff.
Amazing! Had no idea stuff of this level of sophistication was getting cooked up in garages in safferland. I've binge watched the entire series in one go.
Awsome skills. This is going to be one awesome ride. Im very envious 😂
Cheers, it's a long road ahead but it's going to be worth it!
Why not cut out another tunnel and weld it in above your tunnel?
that might work , but i dont think i will get enough height because the tunnel has a taper in it, but great idea
@ in all actually you might only need to rise the rear. I see it done on a mk2, I’m not 100% on mk1
@@juddfyah ive watched @gateslicks vid on doing the tunnel , he says he wished he made the front section bigger
Once again. Great work
Cheers mate, more progress to come soon.
The time and effort to engineer this is beyond special. Can't wait to see the finished produc🙏🏾👏🏾🤩🔥
The videos caption is ambiguous and was the reason I came to watch. But the end result was definitely worth the watch. Congrats on rolling the golf #selfmade 😌👏🏾🙌🏾❤️
Nice work. My only change would be to use a bolt (caster pivot) with more smooth shank in shear. Should bolts are great for this or use a longer bolt to get more unthreaded section and trim it down. Result will be less compliance and more strength.
Really great work.
Cheers , glad you like it
Awesome stuff, looking really good... Would love this custom front suspension setup for my car, what would it cost?
amazing work i would love loger videos
20-30mins I feel 10mins is way to short for such a well thought out idea ! Make it seem so easy 😂 very impressive , should do some cad videos on making it 👀 , great work
It will be much better to use short mat as the first layer to have less imprinting and more ease to apply in small contours.
Would be willing 2 sell drawings for the spindle and front lower control arms?
i see you guys love audi's
Audi's are cool , VW's are better
This is my kind of build! First off, I’m happy with up to 30mins for an episode but will defer to the masses. I like your approach to the design but, have you done looked at the geometry yet? If you intend to run the car lower than std you can correct the roll centre within your upright design. Good decision on the bigger CV and Spline.
yes the geometry is a complete stuff up , aaai , gonna need to make some changes
nice work, looks great!
Definitely appreciate the longer videos. I'm enjoying the process so hit us with more step by step detail
Brilliant work. I wish your channel exponential growth. You deserve it.
Longer with more details of course
Longer videos please, you can make shorts for the ADD kids.
Longer videos definitely. 20 - 30 minutes. It’s great to see engineering work at its best.
Longer videos 20/30 min your build is epic I love the custom parts they are amazing
The longer thea's video is, the better it is very cool👍
make it half an hour please man and yes lets see the whole process all the intricacies
I’m in the middle of doing a MK3 golf conversion using the TT mk1 subframe etc. having these CAD files as a base to work into a mk3 chassis would be so helpful if you could provide a link.
not sure how its gonna help you , send me a email at carbonmk1@gmail.com
@@carbonmk1thanks, email sent
Great content
hope you enjoying
so can your share the file or sell it to us lol
for sure, i can upload it to grab cad
@@carbonmk1 please send me the link thanks in advance
If you could post the link that would be hugely appreciated !
How did you do in terms of registration of the car
@@DJ29-f7k got a few things still to do before it can be done 😂
Maybe blank out the number plates otherwise everyone is going to track you down.
Hope you end up keeping all the moulds and files. Could start a production line and a new VW mk1 carbon revolution.
Some great South African ingenuity. I like it.
Impressive work 👍
thanks mate , wish i had more time to put to this project
@@carbonmk1 i am following for the next videos
Great job i will be following your project
thanks , hopefully it wont be too long before i get the front suspension done
Cant believe wht SA guys are making these days 😂 trully outrageouse fabrication and designing❤ i look up to you and please frequently upload for us subscribers we are dying for your content u are the best in SA in this line keep up
Nice build, wow
I swear this is going to be an interesting project, I've fallen in love with the build
You just gained a subscriber, keep up with the good work
Lol...my friend, you always amaze me..wish I had a 5th of your intelligence... Miss Jbay and it's people...
Thats looking nice man Amazing. I'm converting my Corrado to 4motion and the way a got around this problem is to swap out the whole floor😂😂
and you not doing video of it for you tube ? im pretty sure thats illegal ... you got instagram ?
Amazing how this guy just decides to make a car in his garage :) Incredible. Pass some brains this way bruv.
Nice one Cliff... Putting that scanner to the test
sheesh dunno where id start without it , double the amount of time to get the same results
Great video. What is your workflow getting the scan into solidworks?
once you have completed the scan the last step is align it to the co ordinate system , this is done by drawing a plane , a line and a point onto the scan. using these references the scan will change orientation to align to XYZ in solidworks
@@carbonmk1are you importing as graphics body?
@@xxBOOSTYxx i import as an OBJ , as you can convert to mesh and work on it then.
@@carbonmk1 thanks for the info. Not long got the einstar and haven’t a chance to stuff around much. Downloaded a few scans online which all sent to make solidworks very laggy.
@@xxBOOSTYxx yes make sure you take visible lines off on the display , makes a massive difference
