Trekking to Everest Base Camp with No Training

Recovering from terrible food poisoning that I picked up in Thailand, I arrived in Nepal with the ambition to trek to Everest Base Camp. The problem is, I had very little training and had barely been over 1500 metres before... Watch along to see how it goes! There is more to Fife than meets the eye. A wee project I've been working on over the last year or so. Locations in order: - Inchcolm Island - Devilla Forest - Forest next to Lomond Hills - John Knox's Pulpit - Lomond Hills - Falkland - Maspie Den - Balgonie Castle - Forth Bridges - Tentsmuir Beach - Path to John Knox's Pulpit - Bonnet Stone (Bunnet Stane) - Pittencrieff Park - Dunfermline Abbe...
I just completed the Trek at 70 years old with no training, my wife as well. The last day was the best. Whoo Hoo My wife was amazing 😊
Hey.. which month have u done this trek ?? I am planning to go in April- May ; Can u suggest when can we have best views Sept to Nov / March to May ?
IT BOGLES MY MIOND:YOU PEOPLE HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THIS ONCE GREAT MOUNTAIN!SOONER OR LATER,YOU WILL BE PAYING THE PRICE?ALL THAT TRASH,ALL OVER THE MOUNTAINSIDE-UNREAL!YOU ALL HJAVE NO RESPECT WHATSOEVER FOR NATURE!SO,IF YOU HAVE THE MONEY,YOU CAN GO?UNBELIEVABLE?IT WOULDN,T SURPRISE ME THAT THEY BUILD A MCDONALDS AT BASECAMP?!THAT WOULD BE THE ULTIMATE DISRESPECT,OF THIS ONCE,GREAT MOUNTAIN,WHICH YOU ALL HAVE RUINED!
Just subscribed from california! Amazing photography and gorgeous nature shots (:
Did you book this trip through a company? Great video, and amazing memories made for a lifetime!!
My family & i are going end of sept.
Thank you for your kind information 🙏🏻
Glad you didn’t die. Keep up the adventures
Looks like Sancha & Manny were on your team? The real hero’s!
Great vlog! I really want to go, but those bridges scare the crap out of me! I don't want to let it stop me from EBC, but man they don't seem sturdy! It seems like you were walking at a faster pace than I would think for high altitude trekking. I did Kilimanjaro last year and it was pole pole- slowly slowly- all the way until summit push then it slowed way down. You didn't take diamox or altitude meds? What company did you go with, if you can say?
Awesome video. Just wow. Plan to do this trip next year, this video was great prep. Thank you so much 🙂
This deserves way more likes! I was shocked when I saw this only had 9k views
❤❤❤
0:44 woow💚 excellent 🔥
Beautiful location and top notch videography with so few views... the algorithm is sleeping on this one
@@Stevie-J Thank you very much Stevie! I really appreciate it mate 🙂
Really cool vid keep up good content
Did you have any difficulty arrive and leaving Lukla? I'm planning to go in late September, but a few people told me monsoon seasons are now extended until the end of September due to climate change, so the flights to Lukla get cancelled a lot.
Arriving was totally fine however we were delayed a little bit getting back. I'd definitely recommend booking flights home etc a couple days after to allow yourself time to get back to Kathmandu. I had an extra day so I wasn't too worried but a few people in my group were stressing. To be quite honest, I didn't research too much so I didn't realise the risk I was taking by doing it in September. But after seeing the hordes of people arriving as we were going down, I'm glad I did!
Sick
@@redrospa1590 Cheers Andy!!
class video mate, what a pilgrimage!
I felt like a wee peasant from stronghold on my way to the holy lands 🥲😂 Legend mate!
RUclips algorithm just show up this video. Exactly what I wanted as I plan to take a trip to Lukla and trek alone to Everest base camp, similar as you - a self organized trekking. Can't wait for more videos and more details! Maybe a video with how you planned the trip, what you put in the backpack, cash amount, insurances, tourist permit etc etc.
Already working on it! I'll try and include as much as I possibly can to help the likes of yourself 😄
Amazing place ❤
@@liyinchong4493 Couldn't agree more!!
Nice vlog. Did you take the Lukla flight from Kathmandu or Ramechap?
@@BKumar-Sargam Thanks dude! Glad you liked it.. I took the flight from Kathmandu... It was fine on the way in but bumpy on the way back 😬
Seriously impressive feat to have accomplished.. 🎉 I’m hoping to go next year 😅.. what 3 tips would you suggest? Edit: I really enjoyed your video, I found myself not wanting it to end!! New subscriber here
@@surfgorl9407 Thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it!! I was extremely under prepared for this trip as I had already been travelling to other places before Nepal so I'm maybe not the most qualified to answer but I'll try 😅 - Be careful where you eat meat. The further along the trail you go, the higher chance it's not going to be great. - My god, make sure you have tested your clothing/gear before. Get those boots broken into! - Take sunscreen, sun glasses, those thin snoods so you're less exposed to the sun, wind and dust. I hope you manage to make it and good luck!!
Nice … Bro whats your Camera Gear..??
The Camera I used in this video was the GoPro Hero 9!
@@JacksonMoyles… GoPro Still rocks … Anyways Nice Vlog mate … Safe travel brother
When was this done coz now they got a board next to that stone at EBC
@@arnprasad This was at the end of last year!
They have removed it pretty quickly because there were a lot of people that disliked it. It’s no longer there.
@@danicalawler ah..didnt know. Thx
At 17:55 the trail forks and you should have chosen the "Gokyo" trail, not the EBC one. This because the High Scenic Trail via Mong La - Phortse - Pangpoche also leading to EBC is much more impressive than the standard Tengboche low trail all lazy guides use. Takes the same amount of time on the way up, just come down via Tengboche monastery. Idiotic to hike the same trail twice. No training? I have never trained for trekking, or aerobic training in general in 50 years, but have been to Khumbu 5 times already.
I have watched over 30 videos of this base camp trip….. and somehow YOU seem to insert yourself in every one of them. These are all paid companies that use this same trek. If YOU think it’s so important to take all these “ other “ trails…. Then start your own company and just do it. Otherwise just stay in your lane. I’m beginning to think your just a bot to land on almost every trek video I watch.
@@DonnaRoushall Yes, I am on a mission from Gods! Gods of best views and most impressive routes. Tha sad fact is that (almost) all nepalese companies use the standard route because they are afraid to be different. Several western companies have started using the Phortse route on the way up because of me telling them to, and they are not changing back as both guides and the clients love the route; they are getting more for the same amount of time and money. Try it and you'll also like it.
@@karipintakivi9153 western companies…?…. Name them please..
@@DonnaRoushall NatGeo and REI used to go via Phortse until they stopped Nepal trips due to Covid-19. Besides the two Finnish operators Mandala and Aventura fast search [EBC itinerary phortse dates] brings up these as an example, now some more avant-garde Nepalese agencies seem also have heard about my recommendations: International Mountain Guides (Wa USA), Mountain Madness (Wa USA) Mission Summit (Nep), Nepal Vision (Nep), Mountain Monarch (Nep), Expedition Base (Nep), Himalayan Wonders (Nep). Those came up on first two pages. If one wonders why independent guides do not go via Phortse one should understand that many of the are not locals anymore but city boys form Kathmandu, and unfamiliar with the area actually, just walking the rut back and forth.
@@karipintakivi9153 can you point me into direction of companies that are using Phortse route?
Thank you algorithm for this video!
Just subbed, wishing you success with your channel, working on my fitness and then I'll tackle the EBC trek.
Thank you so much! I hope you make it there someday! It is a trek of a lifetime 😊
super ❤❤❤
Hey Jackson...loved yr vid on this epic trek. I am doing my EBC & 3 Passes trek in Nov. I was just wondering which camera did u use as the clarity is unreal.?
hey Domenic , doing the EBC 3 passes nov 2-23 this year as well !👍👍
That's Awesome! Are you all prepared for it? For the footage you see, I was using a GoPro Hero 9! I was super impressed with the quality too as I hadn't long bought it
Thanks mate. 3 yrs of research so hopefully I am prepared but u never know what the altitude will do to u which is why I am starting in Phaplu ( Nov 15th)..No porter or guide. We will be on the trail at the same time so I might see u heading down as I head up. I will keep an eye out for u. Am using 2 insta360 cameras so hopefully I can match the quality of yr Gopro which is why I asked the question. May I ask what insurance company you are using. I am struggling to find a company that can provide a sensible quote without a ridiculous excess charge especially with the reputation that Nepal has regarding all the scams regarding helicopter rescues. U did make a reference in this vid but for the 3 passes I am sure u will have insurance just for peace of mind.
@@domenicclohessy9684 I hope you know going CCW Kongma La - Cho La - Renjo La is safer what comes to altitude (slower approach and acclimatisation in more interesting places; real villages) and ease of passes (less climbing). Also if the big glacier conditions are iffy it is perfectly possible to go around the termini, which only adds a few km to the hike. You do not have to cross them to complete the 3 passes.
I understand. I am going ccw doing 4 acclimatisation stops at Namche..Pangboche ( Aba Dhablam base camp) Dingboche & Chukhung. I can only hope the weather dosent go against me especially on the high passes. Only time will tell...
The last chopper out of ‘nam 🚁

Cool idea mate, would also be good to get some people reactions to when they find the pics
Cheers bro! Will definitely hang around to get some reactions at some point... This was at a train station so I could've been waiting awhile 😅
Such a good idea bro keep theses coming and you’ll blow up on shorts doing these types of vids
Ahhh thank you mate! Really appreciate it!!
I would subscribe but the foul language is obnoxious.
I agree there is no need for such foul language
Well, I don't think I have very many "fucks" to give...😅
I have a question while you're inside the mausoleum was there anyone else with you? Because as you are talking it look like a group of little candles went around behind you. It could be a lens flare but I seriously doubt it because it doesn't look like a flashlight shining into camera. It actually looks light a set of candles. Take a look at the video again and let me know if there was somebody else with you during filming. The only thing I can think it is it's a reflection somehow from the entrance of the crept onto the camera. The odd thing is it appears that you're not moving but it is. So unless the camera is getting a reflection from the entrance and it's bouncing around off the camera I'm not sure how it be moving. Let me know what you think
I dont understand why the coffins holding the remains are all warped and bent/twisted to the point that you can't even recognize them as coffins. If anything, they would be rusted or perhaps the wood gotten soft or rotten from the elements and age, but bent? Did the people who broke into the crypt previously take a sledgehammer to the coffins?
Sick people doing satanic rituals ?
The coffin and skeleton on the floor look like they were burned.
better than a horror movie ,i breathed a sigh of relief when you got out,i would have been terrified of getting stuck in there!
Your language defines you as immature.
Deja descansar a los muertos o te caera el karma y este año moriras
so these remains are being desecrated by people out of morbid curiosity these bodies deserve to be left in peace they have been moved pulled out onto the floor the lead lining of the coffins you can see has been ripped back ,i would imagine some one has gone in hoping to find funeral treasure which is rare ...but people do stupid things,,, that vault needs re sealing .to keep people out ,there also a very good chance of catching nasty diseases from corpses so,.keep out..
There a few crypts in Northumberland in the same state
Jackson what great work and keep the historical details love you efforts such trouble your fit as a trout theirs no harm in visiting a tomb as long as you have respect and treat it the same way as you would expect you own people to be respected Having said that precautions must be taken with old vaults and exposed coffins and bones as some people died from contagious diseases as small pox TB and even strains of other diseases that our modern bodies can have trouble with so anyone causing vandalism be aware it will come back But if you're there on the grounds of respect historical interest that's ok but ware a mask and ware disposable gloves And use prayers of protection st Michael prayer Or Jesus protect me with your precious blood And please do not use bad language they don't like it as I am at time fond of using it too The darker skull And bones are dying from the lead coffin the other skull is white called bleaching strange this is usual caused by been exposed to light or air now the vault seems very damp and the bigger coffin seems to have busted it's self as you comment that the coffin was large it body could have been big if buried during a hot summers day would have caused gas build up and it exploded as the timber remained on top and around the coffin i wound say it was not severely damaged as of the one on the floor it was sadly damaged and I would say the content was smaller the bones were black and dark brown and could have soaked in it own body juice for a while causing the dying of the remains there is very rarely gold or valuables left in coffins at any stage and it a myth the Christian church's would not support such waste and family's even at that time were not that soft people were put into shrouds like the old night dress of long ago with a simple bow or cross sewing in If Roman Catholic they have been buried in a black or heavy brown cowl like a monks habitat with hood and all with usually a rosary beads or cross in hands Even for the rich jewellery was rare and would have rented jewellery for big occasions even people would have put beds chairs and their clothing in their will Vaults were built to avoid body snatchers as their was not much pictures at the time a son could be gone on ship and on return he found out one of his parent died and would often be bought to the coffin waiting at the shelf the vault fell out of favour before world wars body snatchers were out of business the money was gone from the spice trade it was now cool to be cremated soldiers cemeteries where all men were buried together rich or poor military funerals required a simple coffin draped in a flag during the world wars material for coffins and lead was impossible to get that's why the uk has a simple flat lid coffin with little adornments compared to even Ireland where the coffin was raised lid with Catholic adornments attached And now as people are more educated and that 90% of the body is made of liquid so more of you will evaporate than stay in the grave mind changed where now we have environmental liquid cremation and burial is now more in the favour As the funeral we now have is quite a young concept and came about at the funeral of queen Victoria the coffin hearse and flowers became popular God Bless the work
Off your meds again, I see?🤔
They are after jewellery in the coffins.
