You Can Grow Your Flower Dream From the Ground UP! Natalie Geehr of The Farmer Florist
Starting small is perfectly okay! Every grand dream begins with a single step, and this week’s episode beautifully illustrates that journey. It’s a reminder that you don’t need vast resources to cultivate your passions and watch them bloom.
My guest this week is Natalie Geehr, owner of The Farmer Florist. Natalie began her journey right in her backyard in Fresno, CA. When she outgrew that space, she took a leap and leased a 1/4 acre-an old horse arena in her parents’ backyard. It took some convincing but perseverance won. Despite feeling a little imposter syndrome in such a thriving agricultural area, she’s fully embracing the journey toward her own flower farm.

Life in Bloom With J Schwanke on The Flower Podcast
I was definitely successful in growing sweet peas this last summer. They were the star of the show. I live in zone 3 in Canada. Her course was great and look forward to the book.
@@rosebud447 That’s wonderful!! I’m thrilled you had such great success!!
What about tropical weather in East Africa, kenya
Thank you for the video. Can you tell me how weather modification and cloud seeding fit into the almanac? And very, very sad that not everyone has the luxury of container gardening out on their deck, in an apartment. There are SO many toxic, scented, lab made disgusting, detergents and dryer sheets spewing out of people's dryer vents. I wouldn't dare grow anything in all that pollution! it's horrific how people are brainwashed by these evil manufacturers making these poisons., that ruin it for everyone not using this garbage😭Please wake up🙏☣️🤢🌎🌱
You are so right what you saying it's so tempting buy so many different FLOWERS seed bulb etc.I will be learning early spring flowers and fall planting in2025.I'm a gardener and work at farmer market this summer and I grew some Dahlia s and disbud mums I sold my blooms at the market. People responded very well. Thank you for your teaching Maybe I can take your class in future.Happy New Year!
@@myakyi8957 Sounds like you are on the right track!! All the best in 2025!!
That was the most heartfelt, touching and inspiring podcast. I wish everyone could have the chance to see the video or hear the podcast. It's the kind that can drastically change not just in their business but their heart. Thank you. Scott and Marryn. You can bet I will be growing sweet peas this coming season and can't wait to try fall planting for the next year.
Awesome set-up for the birds! 🎉 New subscriber here, thank you for sharing such a fun video 😊
PFAS contamination in Maine
Thank you. I’d love to take your course. Can I get a reminder please? Thanks
@@darlenemacdonald206 Hi!! I would reach out to The Farmhouse Flower Farm directly. Someone there should be able to assist you with that. Thanks for watching!!

What are the average wholesale price points for the various sizes?
Wow. So much humility and inspiration. I love Jean-Pascals story. It gives me hope as a small home studio floral designer who came late to the industry. I also take only small local weddings and events because it’s just me and whoever I can recruit when needed. Also I work pt at a local flower shop. I’m doing what I can for now at 66 and I love what I’m doing no matter how small the job is. Thank you for the great outlook and practical advice.
Love it! You're great attitude makes all the difference.
I live in an area similar to hers. Very hot summers. I would like to know what flowers she grows in the heat. Im a small flower farmer and its hard to find flower farmer’s who get hot temps in the summer months to share experiences. Im a newbie, 3rd year growing, still learning and experimenting. I live in South western Utah, right on the border with Arizona and Nevada. If you drew a line from Fresno, straight east to utah, you would hit where I live. We also have a small collective with great people to work with. Appreciated your comments.
Luv this😊
love it thanks!!
I just bought the cut flower field guide.. looking forward to it. Good winter read🎉
Your advice is incredibly helpful-thank you so much!
I'm so glad you enjoyed and found helpful this episode with Marryn!! 🥰
Sunshine series are amazing, never seen such stem length in other varieties :) but they never set seeds for me:(
I love adding seed pods to my bouquets after they go to seed. Though I only use them for friends/family with no little ones in the house. Then explain about them being non edible. Great guest.
That's great! Thanks for your comment!
I can’t get past that sweet peas are poisonous, I’m too scared to give them to someone.
I grew the most incredible sweet peas the last summer in the northwest territories, north of the 60th parallel. I'm fully addicted and bought 8 new varieties and seed saved from all my plants and especially my favorites 😊 I'm so looking forward to getting a copy of Marryn's book in February!
How exciting!! I'm thrilled that you're doing so well with them!
Great! You'll have all the good tips and tricks when it comes out!
I just received some of Marryn's sweet pea seeds today!
That's awesome.
Calendula was my first too
I definitely have a love / hate thing for calendula.
I already pre ordered Marryn's book!
That's great!!!
Poke leafs added to Kale or Spinich make it delicious. I used to freeze a cup of poke leafs that were blanched and add one cup to a cooking of other greens. I have deep fried poke stems. I have boiled the poke berries for arthritis. So many good uses.
I couldnt find Erica Penn on instagram. At least not her. 🤷♀️
@thebloomflowerfarm
Maybe terracotta pots can be wiped regular with watering, maybe initially before a good wash and then coating thinly the outside with a hydroscopic formula like rain-x?
Thank you
I loved this so much I listened to the podcast and watched the youtube episode! Although I do that with most of your episodes haha. Thanks for posting great content!
Thank you
Do you offer seeds at all? Or have info where to find some of these seeds?
Yes, Brenna does offer seeds although currently out of stock. threebrothersblooms.myshopify.com

A great shrub for pollinators and for the birds (so many birds go crazy for berries).
This has to be my favorite episode of the podcast. Thank you Jean-Pascal and Scott.
thank u, im still trying to get my hands on some seeds..
Love your passion Erin.
Seriously 😢 publix has great flowers at half the price so does trader joes
You are the best!! Thank you!!
This lady is so nice. I can’t wait until she has seeds for sale. I hope she does well.

@@RochdaleCowboyy Thank you so much!!🥰
Caryopteris “Sounds like a dinosaur “ Scott- too funny and true!
Love this. I ama hobby grower in northeast Florida, and the thing I find most challenging is the summer rainfall. Maybe that’s part of why you’re taking a summer production break. I find that I can grow some beautiful blooms but the daily rainfall makes mildew inevitable and the plants look like trash. Additionally, the heavy rain makes staking a challenge.
@@MamaFriday Thank you!! Another great point!🥰
Preciosas. Saludos desde Berlin
She is beautiful
Love and larvae! I cannot believe that flys are pollinators! 🤔 What a great interview! ❤
