    I'm old. I can remember being 8 years old and watching The Three Stooges with my little brother. One of the funniest episodes ever is titled, "Boobs in arms." That short was filmed on the very location in 1940 back when the ranch was owned by Colombia. I pass by it every day and never knew. As of today, most of that Friends backdrop has been taken down. So sad we in the States always choose profits over history.

    Seems like a great guy. Underused for sure. Tuned out after hearing the Covid support. I used to work in a Hollywood film union and left before 2020, and no chance! No way would I go along with an agenda disguised as 'safety'. Not for a 3 picture deal with the cast of my choice and final cut, and free mansion. No way. And I can really use the work and a nice place to stay. So few research the easy to find public information showing it was coming, in detail. Nobody looks beforehand. NOR after. Most just wait for their orders without the slightest discernment. Astonishing you STILL consider the creepy set protocols a "good idea". Still? Disheartening that all filmmakers are 100% conformists now. People who follow orders aren't the best storytellers, or artists. Not hard to see why movies are more forgettable and disposable than they ever have been. Some say the worst ever. Wouldn't argue that. Rambling on - Mr. Ashton mentioned shingles. Had them in the 30's and again recently at 45. Our ministry of information health system promotes shots and avoids identifying the symptom. Because I knew what shingle symptoms were the 2nd time, I stopped them quick with 1 cheap med and only had a 2 inch spot that went away in 10 days, instead of 5 weeks of pain. No jabs. Opted out of those 20+ years ago in my 20s. Not a cold in 5 years.

    That was a great interview and a bio of your life. I liked very much how you describe movies being raw, no signs of the director or anyone trying to show by the movie that it’s them, praising themselves, patting their own backs. We don’t have enough movies anymore that rely on just certain fundamentals as the writing, acting, cinematography, sound and music. I find that there is so much dependency on pyrotechnics and CGI, which is impressive visually, the substance or the ‘meat’ of great story telling through film is lost.

    • @poddywood
      @poddywood Год назад

      Very true. Stunt work and VFX have lost the weight they used to carry back in the 80s/90s in particular thanks to the advances in CGI. Saying that, a perfect marriage of them all produced Jurassic Park which still holds up mostly flawlessly 30 years later. Yeah. 30 years.
