I have been riding this area since 1968 and even though traffic has gotten worse there are still some great roads that very few people use.

It's pretty much over in the higher elevations but still plenty of color down lower.

I have been riding these roads since 1968 so I have a little advantage. I don't have the NT anymore but I did enjoy it. My old body needed a little more comfort.

Been there and done it. 215 and Charlie's Creek road over to Hwy 281 north is a blast. Then head south on 107 and take Walnut Creek road into Franklin N.C.

That's been so long ago I don't know the brand and Ebay will not go back that far. It was an easy fit. I do remember that. It was one of the better lights. I think back then I gave 45 dollars for it.

@@michaelbuxton9611 no I don't but i have rode all over the Mountain City area and the Back of the Dragon is just a short ride from there. We stayed in Mountain City for several days rode into Virginia and surrounding areas. Had a great time. I should have videos or at least I think I do.

The Parkway used to end at Hwy 325 at Townsend but now it goes on to bypass Townsend. We always ride to the end turn around and ride back. It is beautiful in both directions.

William Dailey cool, i see it on the map. looks good. getting the connie ready. new tires, oil change, coolant change. previous was driving it with no steering stem bolt! basically the upper fork pinch bolts was the only thing hold the front end together! gonna try evans waterless coolant this time.

@@michaelbuxton9611 That's going to be a big change for you. Randy has one and he can ride it at a pretty fast clip. I rode it and I just never came to grips with it but if I had rode it longer I would have figured it out. That's the way it is with most bikes. You have a learning curve.

@@triumphrider2002 little tired of gettin beat up ridin the motards. i still luv em though. the husky does good in mountains/deals gap. very nimble.

I loved the bike but I ended up selling it because of the crap plastic Honda used on the bodywork. I had to install after market latches on the luggage lids and the whole rear section starting cracking everywhere. I bought new lids but the inner section just started coming apart. I had a 1984 Honda that used that same engine. They are bullet proof.

@@triumphrider2002 I still have mine purchased in 2010, but I don't ride it much. I replaced the small pannier lids with large ones imported from the UK. I have not had any problems with the plastic cracking, but I live in a warm climate. It's really a unique bike, very practical, but most people consider it to be quite boring. Mine has ABS which is quite good. This bike's DNA is actually from the old Honda Pacific Coast.

There have been stories of problems with the lids of the 700s built in carriers, they are different from the 650, the rare problem lays in the latching mechanisms. It requires you to offer the lid up with a central gentle push. Then all’s good. However if you push it up hard with just pressing on one end it can cause only one catch to hold it. It’s rare, has to plastics I have never personally had any issues with Honda’s offerings and have had them sun bleached and frozen in winter. Ok. There will be people with negativity to say. When I said it’s a well sorted piece of kit. I was referring to the engine, brakes and handling. These bikes can go three times around the clock! Proven many times over. There will always be people who don’t like something, that’s the world we live in. If you want something with the reliability of the Honda Cub 90cc this is it x God Bless you all have a wonderful day xx

Ed in Florida hi yes I like his videos, I do agree that Honda could have put more robust hinges on the carriers but it’s no deal breaker to me. I’ve had so many bikes since 1976 and not one is perfect. I dare say 30 years ago I might have wanted a more sportier bike but I appreciate this engine and what they have done with it since the 80s. The old adage that there is no such thing as a boring bike but there are plenty of boring riders. Forever searching for something that doesn’t exist. Ride safe brother

@@triumphrider2002 i picked up a 2011 husky 630 sms. i put a preston petty headlight on the klr. i did hwy 28 from augusta all the way to deals gap in oct. stayed overnight at the lodge.

Bias ply tires have pretty much always sucked. I cannot remember the last year that I used them. I did not know the Cobras were not made anymore. I used them on the Victory and liked them but they were no better then the 890s and a lot more money.

@@triumphrider2002 The Cobra's have been replaced with the "Cobra Chrome" tires. They are very expensive, ~$430-50 for a set and from what I've read so far, don't perform as well as the old Cobras. I think the Journeys will do just fine, especially at $230 for the set.

@@triumphrider2002 I am currently looking for a Vic. Gearbox on my Triumph Rocket 3 Touring gave up a week ago. To reach the gearbox will cost me 1200 bucks. Construction of the bike is a bit complicated. Have to lift of the whole frame from the engine. Then additional money to figure out what is wrong with it. So after I've had it fixed I'm selling it. This week I'm going to try a Vic crossroads.

@@bbusigful Get a 2012 up or you might have the same issues with the Victory. Mine was a 2010 and the transmission went out. Victory did not offer an update to fix it but did change the transmission in 2012. Most Victory owners do no have trouble with the older bikes but I used mine like a sport bike changing the gears a lot. I got pissed off and sold my Victory and now I hate that I did. Could have bought a good used 2012 engine for 1200 dollars. I ride with a guy that has 120,000 miles on his Cross Roads with no problems. The big Victory is comfortable ,powerful ,more ground clearance then a Goldwing has. It will out handle a Goldwing. I screwed up letting it go. Hoping to be able to get another one now. They are getting cheaper every day.

I was told that you can cross the creek and go down towards the river and walk back up to the falls. Have not done it yet. If you go let me know how it is.I have rode across the creek before and it's not very deep.

I sold the Cross Roads but it was still working fine when I did. No reason for it not to work.
