Fyi, at 5:45 that's actually a llama, _Lama glama_ 😉 Alpacas are smaller & shorter, about half the height of llamas, and have more of a "poodle" or sheep appearance, with a dense and curly coat that gets sheared often for wool. Alpacas are the domestic variant of the vicuña, the smallest and rarest of the South American camelids, with the finest wool, too. Llamas are the largest though, and likely come from guanacos, which are wild llamas essentially. More common in Argentina and Chile. Llamas are known for being livestock & property guardians, hence why you see them everywhere around that area. They will alert everyone around and attack any fox, puma, ocelot, stray dog or even jaguar, I’d imagine. They’re fearless and will spit a stomach acid/saliva mixture in your face! 😂
Honestly had no clue the difference. Kept switching from calling them llamas to alpaca the whole time in Peru. Good to know for next time!
